CHAPTER 5: Homecoming

Bella's POV:

Opening my eyes the morning sunlight shown bright through the pulled curtains looking around the empty room my heart began to race as I panicked. No,! He promised he wouldn't leave! We had talked the next day and he swore they weren't leaving! I tried calming myself with his words but my breathing started coming faster just as the door opened.

It wasn't the person I wanted to see! It wasn't Emmett or any of the others. It was what looked to be a male nurse pushing the vitals machine but I had never seen this man before, I didn't trust him. I pushed myself up on the bed sitting upright my back pushed to the bed as far as it could go as he walked over to me with a smile. No! I didn't like this at all something wasn't right. Reaching my his hand out to grab mine I lost it and started screaming at the top of my lungs causing multiple things to happen within seconds. The nurse stumbled back into the blood pressure machine causing it to crash to the ground a look of confusion on his face as he caught himself on my bed accidentally touching my leg which I pulled inward to my chest wrapping my arms around my legs rocking back and forth. I could still hear screaming. Emmett, Charlie and Carlisle all burst into the room, Emmett taking one look at me and then the nurse who was now standing just looking at me. Without warning Emmett grabbed the nurse by his shirt, you could hear the tearing fabric. "What did you do?!" he screamed in his face, every bit the picture of the vampire he was.

Closing my eyes tightly and holding my ears I couldn't handle it all the screaming the yelling the, men.

Emmett's POV:

I had stepped out for a moment as Charlie had news on that scum. I didn't want to but I needed to know so I could plan my next step. Bella was sleeping soundly so I wasn't worried, that was my mistake. Bells never did what we expected. When I heard her scream it took Carlisle's lightning speed grip on my arm to keep me from running at vampire speed. Damn the humans I needed to get to Bella! But I knew we didn't need the Volturi on our asses either so I followed behind Charlie as he ran to her room. Her screaming so piercing even for human ears that Charlie heard it and dashed out the door instantly. Thankfully because it kept him from seeing Carlisle and I's exchange. When we burst through the door I saw a young man mid 20s black hair and tanned complexion stumbling backwards. He almost looked as if he could be from the rez. What the hell did he do to her?! He was dressed in scrubs, the thought didn't register that he was a medical professional all I saw was the terror in Bella's face. I went to the man and grabbed him up by the collar of his shirt effortlessly lifting him an inch off the ground as if he weighed the amount of a grain of sand. "WHAT DID YOU DO?!" I screamed in his face. Sure my eyes were black as coal. As venom spewed from my mouth the man hands raised terror in his eyes. "I….I…..N….Nothing!" he stuttered. "Emmett!" I heard Carlisle yell grabbing my shoulder squeezing with vampire strength getting me to place the trembling heap of male flesh in front of me on his feet. This man better thank whatever God was on his side because if it wasn't for Carlisle and Charlie I would have killed this innocent human. I refused to let anyone hurt Bells again!

Charlie stood at the end of Bella's bed looking between the 4 of us with confusion and a bit of fear which likely kept him from getting in the middle. Which was a wise move. The Chief wasn't dumb that's for sure.

"Chase, Why are you in here?" Carlisle asked helping the boy to the door. "V..Vitals sir" he answered glancing back at me repeatedly as I sat by Bella pulling her into my side rubbing her hair trying to soothe her while giving this Chase guy death glares. "She is a Rape victim Chase, Nobody is to be handling her treatment besides I or a female nurse." Carlisle stated showing his disproval in Chases careless act all so he could get done quickly with his runs. He hadn't looked at her chart that much was clear as his scent was no where on it. Idiot boy!

Bella's pov:

2 Days Later:

Opening my eyes two days later I was going crazy. I had refused to talk to anyone since the nurse incident. I felt pathetic and I was sick of seeing the pitty in everyone's eyes when they spoke to me. So to solve that I just didn't talk to anyone, well besides Emmett. And Alice if she were alone. Emmett walked into the room just as I pushed the Horrible looking breakfast away. "Morning Bells, that looks disgusting!" he snorted pointing at the tray. Looking towards the closing door making sure nobody else was coming I gave him an evil look. "Can it Cullen or ill make you eat it!" I joked. Emmett being Emmett got a look of mock terror on his face! "Anything but that! Ill do whatever you want!" He joked. He really did know how to lighten a mood. I laughed quickly before catching myself and covering my mouth with my hand. Emmett's look turned into one of sadness and pain. "Ya know its ok to laugh bells" he said gently coming to sit next too me ruffling my hair. "Ugh Emmett!" I cried trying to straighten my already messed up hair with no luck since I didn't have a hairbrush. "you know, you said you would do anything to not have to eat this mush?" I asked him pointing at the discarded hospital breakfast. He quirked an eyebrow at me challenging. Waiting for my terms. "Break me out of here!" I demanded with a light stomp of my foot on the bed causing him to chuckle.

"Well…." He began with a smile. "What?" I asked impatient and curious. He smiled at me but didn't say anything, God I loved his smile. Ok, that was a weird thought about my brother! "Guess" he said bouncing a bit reminding me of my little pixie friend or at least I hoped she was my best friend still. She seemed to be but everyone just pitied me right now and would leave soon enough. Speak of the devil and she shall appear. Just as the thought had crossed my mind the door opening caused me to jump, I calmed instantly as my hyper little pixie friend came in the room with a dancers step so graceful, with Carlisle trailing behind. I smiled nervously at Alice but refused to make eye contact with Carlisle. She ran to me and wrapped me in her arms. "Hi Bella, I missed you!" She chirped in my ear squeezing me tight even for human standards and a little tighter then her tiny frame should have been able. I grunted. "Alice, the human!" Emmett joked, but successfully getting her to release me. I have missed her so. I missed them all so very much. But I refused to say it allowed. there were to many people in the room.

"I was just playing a little guessing game with her" Emmett said with a childish smile. I smiled at him as Alice looked between the two of us with a knowing smile. "Told you so" Alice said just loud enough I could hear. I looked at them confused. "Oh don't worry about it Bella, Your coming home today" She said excitedly. Emmett looked crestfallen as if someone had just took his lollipop, "ALI! I wanted to tell her!" He whined. Alice frowned. "She wouldn't have answered you with us here" She muttered. I looked down feeling bad.

Looking at me with a sad knowing smile she patted my shoulder. "Don't worry Bella, We don't blame you. after everything you have been through, those who hurt you will pay for what they did!" She said angrily at the end. I didn't know if I liked scary Alice or not, it kind of scared me causing me to grab Emmett's arms and held tightly. "You ready to kick this popsicle stand?" Em Asked me rubbing my shoulder soothingly trying to get me to stop being so tense. I nodded at him. Looking at him with questioning eyes pulling him close whispering in his ear. Carlisle and Alice looked questioningly. "She wants to know what house she is going to?" Emmett said with a shrug. "I myself think she would be better staying at our house until that scum is taken care of" he growled at the end. I could see and feel his muscles tense in anger and I let go of his arm shrinking back into the bed. Em looked down at me in pity or remorse "I'm sorry bells, that dude just pisses me off" he admitted sheepishly. Carlisle looked between us before coming closer causing me to shrink further into the bed. "Bella" he said gently reaching out a hand wanting to comfort me but not touching me which I was thankful for. "You are more then welcome to stay with us, Jasper is there and so is Esme" he said trying to soothe my worries.

Nodding I looked towards Emmett who was just staring at me in waiting. Waiting for me to break and start screaming or have some sort of episode it seemed. Alice smiled "Well then its settled you will stay with us for a while, I've already seen and Charlie will be a bit hesitant but will agree." She smiled plopping down on the bed wrapping her arms around mine causing me to tense up a bit. I wanted to be happy but so much had already happened in such a short time. What if this is all a dream?

Later in the car with Emmett and Alice

I rested peacefully in the backseat using Emmett as a pillow, starting to nod out. As I began to drift, I heard Alice switch on the radio, the song realize came on and my eyes shot open, my body trembling in fear. "Bella!?" Emmett asked worriedly grabbling my trembling shoulders "Bella what's wrong!" he asked me as my vision blurred with tears. I wasn't good enough before; I was damaged goods now. Nobody would ever want me now. I stared blurry eyed at the radio "Off please" I whimpered. "Turn that the fuck off!" Emmett yelled causing Alice to jump and swerve slightly looking at me with fear. "Bella I'm so sorry, I didn't see, I didn't know…." She trailed off, unshed tears filled her voice. She didn't know, none of them did, it was my fault. I was broken.

We sat in an uncomfortable silence for what felt like forever before I wiped the remaining tears from my eyes and snuggled my head into Emmett wrapping my arms around his arm as I buried my face. "Bella?" Alice questioned causing me to lift my gaze to her as she peered at me in the rearview mirror. "Hmm" I hummed sleepily. "I took the liberty to go shopping and get you new clothes and everything you need so you don't have to go home and get it" she said happily. Ugh! I groaned burying my face once again. She looked at me with an evil little glint in her eye and a smirk as she continued the drive to her home. I wasn't sure what to expect when we got there, it had been empty for months. The Cullen's had come back unexpectedly and as far as I knew had been at the hospital with me the entire time. Making me wonder what the house would look like. Abandoned? Just like me. A few minutes later we pulled into the long winding wooded drive, The Cullen mansion slowly coming into view. Everything looked lit and bright and just the same as the last time I had seen it. I wish I was still the same. Everyone was standing outside on the porch awaiting my arrival. Jasper looked to be in pain, Esme looked as if She wanted to rush to the car and pull me into a massive motherly hug. Carlisle was at work and Rosalie and E…Him, Were not present.

Alice started bouncing up and down in excitement as she parked the car. "Bella, you have got to try on your new clothes, how about we play Bella Barbie?!" She asked in excitement turning towards me in her seat. Emmett shook his head beside me, the normally most playful Cullen seemed to understand the most that I wasn't in any shape to 'play' anything. "Not today Alice" Em stated with finality as he opened his door and drug me out of the car with him. Jasper stayed on the porch looking down, possibly remembering the last time we had both been in this house. I didn't blame him; I would have to tell him that soon. He didn't deserve to be carrying that burden.

Walking into the house together everything looked unchanged. Minus the cake and decorations from my dreaded birthday party thankfully. I don't think I could have handled that. Emmett led me to their living room where a nice cozy sectional was placed. Sitting me down he walked towards a closet and pulled out a large white blanket that looked like sheep's wool. Coming back over and placing it comfortingly around my shoulders. I melted into its warmth. Laying my head against the arm of the sofa and closing my eyes. The warmth pulling me into a peaceful slumber. I just prayed this wasn't all a dream and I would awake in this exact spot surrounded by the people I love.
