Chapter 27
Izuku began his training at the HPSC. Mostly, he trained his maneuverability, how to activate his Juggernaut form, and getting him able to speak in public.
Izuku requested his hero outfit from the HSPC so they could incorporate the helmet and quirk-canceling cuffs into his outfit. His cuffs were adjusted to only shut off the barrier and juggernaut forms, and not the regeneration. Izuku's body had many scars from where he had been injured, but his cuffs hadn't deactivated quickly enough for his regeneration to register the injury.
The HSPC were hesitant when he asked for a kill switch to be placed in the helmet and cuffs, but eventually agreed, although they warned that it might not work due to his barrier being over his skin only.
They found that energy projection quirks were partially absorbed by his barrier. As a result, Izuku's base strength was increased from 100 tons to 125 tons, with his hardest punch now clocking in at 197 tons of force, enough to easily shatter bones, stone or anything that could stand in his way.
Izuku had filled out all forms for each exam for his support equipment and gotten permission to turn off the quirk cuffs when in the tests.
Shiketsu was the first Exam Izuku was there with Knuckleduster's recommendation. Inside a mock city there were 75 dummy victims as well as a number of robots ranging from 1-3 pointers. The participants would get points by saving the victims and destroying the robots with points being deducted if the victim got injured by the participant.
Izuku could see several prospective students. Each student was preparing in their own way. There was one student who was walking up to people and placing his hand on their shoulders. Once he did that the student became increasingly worried. Izuku theorised that the guy had a mental altering quirk so it couldn't help in the exam so instead decided to weaken everyone else to give themselves a chance.
As the gates opened most of the participants looked dazed, fearful or disoriented. They all looked up at the gate waiting for the hero Native to announce the start of the exam.
"There's no signal for real villains. go, go, go" as the hero shouted everyone rushed forward as Izuku ran into the testing zone he saw a guy with engines in his legs run into a wall then be carted off by the medical team failing the exam, before it really started.
Izuku smashed easily through the robots and got a good number of the civilians to the safe zone without incident. One of the other competitors had a wind quirk and had launched several large 3 point robots away. 2 of the robots were flying towards a victim dummy. Izuku barely managed to cover the dummy before 3 large robots buried him. As he pulled himself out of the robots he got the victim to the safe zone just as the alarm signalled the end of the exam.
When Izuku left the exam he saw the engine boy scolding the mental quirk users. Izuku knew he could relate. The feeling of not having control over your own body is scary and unpleasant. Izuku found himself walking towards the angry boy with glasses. "H-h-hey it's not his fault that the test is biased. The only way he had a chance against physical quirks is to sabotage a good strategy for real life."
The boy with the glasses turned around looking down intent on scolding Izuku. When he realised he looked up and started "It is not proper for someone to sabotage other participants in such a way those actions are outright villainous."
At this Izuku became less polite "y-y-you're calling someone villainous because you don't like their quirk. You're the villain here.
"They're using what their quirk allows. Your engines easily allow you to smash robots while you save people; their quirk would easily stop a person's movement and prevent villains from fighting back. It doesn't work on robots."
The engine quirk users looked aghast as the insinuation and proceeded to walk off talking of finding an official. The person who Izuku had spoken out for looked up to him like a small puppy. "Thank you. No one's ever said I would be a good hero before."
Izuku replied "people often say I'm a villain or a freak, they often say the same about mental quirks too. But could I ask you about your quirk please?"
At the other's nod Izuku began asking many questions, nearly overwhelming the other student.
The two left Shiketsu talking till they got to the train station. Izuku had a long way home as he lived on the opposite side of Japan.
Izuku had another month until Ketsubutsu's exam. Their exam was more open for human related quirks and had a number of actors with rubber blasters as well as victims. Izuku found the exam harder than Shiketsu as he actively had to control his strength to avoid harming the actors. Izuku gained roughly 50 villain points and 42 rescue points as the exam had 2 minutes left. The hero Fatgum broke through the exit with a number of henchmen to act as a distraction. Izuku immediately started to fight Fatgum his first punch launching him across the exam area. The henchmen's rubber guns were completely unable to affect Izuku, his barrier preventing any rubber sticking to his body. Izuku's second punch was blocked absorbed by Fatgum's stomach. The third punch was dodged by the hero only for Izuku to need to shield himself from a blow that was almost the same as his own punch; the force made shockwaves and Fatgum began raining punches onto Izuku.
As Fatgum went for his ultimate move punching Izuku with at least 150 tonnes of force making a large shockwave making the building next to them become unstable. Izuku had been holding back using only 20 tonnes of force behind his punches. The punch given, forced Izuku off the ground and launched him into the unstable building destroying the final support columns. The building began to collapse onto Izuku.
Fatgum stood in his fit form, arm outstretched as he released a breath. He rang through his earpiece to request a clean up crew to get Izuku from the building.
The building started to shake and it hadn't fully fallen. As the first floor collapsed to the ground Izuku caught a large metal beam holding the building up from falling. Izuku stood like Atlas holding up the building even as he saw Fatgum collapse and get taken away by the school medical team. He stood as the alarm blurred, signalling the end of the exam. Nearly an hour later he heard a voice shouting "Izuku Midoriya are you here? Are you alive?"
"I'm here!" Izuku replied just as loud.
A lady entered the building stepping over rubble.
When she saw Izuku she immediately rang through to the main school "I found Midoriya. The building fell on him… No he's okay he's holding the building up." Over the earphone Izuku could hear "he's what"
"Um kid are you okay?" Asked the teacher
"Yeah all good it's not that heavy. Could you clear the road so I can put the building down?" Asked Izuku
I'll get some robots to hold up the building so you can move" she replied
A few minutes later 10 bots moved around the building hosting the weight from Izuku's arms. As Izuku left the building he walked towards the teacher who'd found him. She had an orange bandana and immediately Izuku recognized her as the hero Ms Joke. Within a few seconds Izuku had a notebook and was asking for an autograph and asking a number of questions. Ms Joke answered all the questions and added at the end "you can also add that I'm engaged to Eraserhead."
"Really! That's amazing I always thought he was with Present Mic"
Ms Joke began to laugh. If you end up going to UA make sure you tell him his fiancé says hello"
Izuku was a bit confused but ended up agreeing.
Once Izuku got home he'd received his acceptance letter for Shiketsu. He'd contacted Fatgum and checked his sensei was okay, he was but would need a few days to get back to his usual weight.
Izuku got back to his training with Hawks after a day. Hawks would shoot several feathers at a time for Izuku to dodge. They worked on Izuku's ability to jump without destroying the ground. Using Izuku's gravity boots it allowed Izuku to bounce off a building's wall without instantly making the wall cave in.
