"Kate" Castle murmured, keeping his eyes glued to the ceiling while he rubbed small circles on her back "Where is this coming from?"

He felt his wife immediately withdraw from his grasp at the question. She sat up, nudging him to do the same and waited patiently for him to readjust. "I just… I mean… I didn't know if that was something you wanted?" Kate quickly got out, reaching her hand to grab ahold of the blanket, needing to fidget with something, needing to alleviate the anxiety that had started to rise. Rick intercepted her hand, clasping her fingers tightly through his and giving a comforting squeeze. "Kate, I would have 15 kids with you if you let me. You said your limit was two, so I'm just surprised. Is this something you really want?"

Kate let out a soft sigh and allowed herself to relax again, "Babe, you've been talking about "last" firsts for months now, and I…I can't see Lily being our last. Watching how Alexis and Lily interacted tonight. I swear the world could be burning around them and they wouldn't notice. I started thinking about Reese, and I know he loves his sisters more than anything, but what if he wanted a brother?"

Castle crashed his lips into hers. It was one of those kisses that still took her breath away. One that professed all of his love for her with one single action.

Kate pulled away, gently rubbing her hand over the stubble that had started to show on his cheeks again. "We're not exactly getting younger and I know that Lily is only six months old but if you do want this, if we want this, I think this is one of our last opportunities. With Election Day still being just a little over two years away, the timing would be perfect. Alexis said most candidates don't announce their bid until almost a year before. But Rick, I get it if you're done. It would put so much pressure on you. Three kids under five? I'm home now, but when the campaign starts? I'm sure I'll have more time than I did at the precinct, but I want you to be able to focus on your work too." Kate finished her ramble, pulled her bottom lip between her teeth and watched as the beautiful man in front of her took in every word she spoke.

"Kate, I would give up writing completely for our kids, for my life with you. This is what I've always wanted. You, Alexis, Reese, and Lily. I love being a dad, you know that. You wanting another baby? I am thrilled at the aspect of expanding our family. I just don't want this to be something you want just because you think it's our only opportunity." Kate could tell by the twinkle in his eye that he wasn't lying to her. However, the words he said weighed heavily on her mind. "I don't want you to have to give up anything. That's not how this works. We're partners. This is a decision we make together. So Castle, that means if at any point you feel overwhelmed or you start missing deadlines again, you need to tell me."

Castle grimaced at the reminder of missed deadlines but quickly replaced it with a smile. "So this is something you really want?"

Kate snuggled back down into the bed, motioning for her husband to follow. She sat there listening to the steady pounding of his heart before quietly whispering, "Yes. This is something I want."

A/N: Just a short chapter again. Again, I apologize for any mistakes I had planned on giving this a more thorough read over but I spent the day in the ER so I'll go back and edit once I feel better.

Also, I am not going to get big into the political accuracies, so if stuff is wrong, it's because I'm mainly focusing on how Kate's run for Senate affects the Castle Family.
