'I wouldn't mind really, if that's what you want.'
She had a lovely singing voice, and he could listen to her forever.
She was a woman Suguru would follow to the end of the world and still find peace.
But she was also a woman who was in love with someone else, and he couldn't believe his own damn luck that it was his best friend.
Suguru would place himself on the front lines for the sake of humanity. Yet, somehow, Gojo got to her first. So, how the hell did she slip from his hands, into his friend's?
Suguru couldn't find a proper way to reason with that. He loved his dear friend- more than anything, really- but he could see that not even Gojo was that into her. His efforts didn't align with the affection he showered with. At least, not to the extent Suguru would have if she were in his arms instead.
He held his friend in high regard, but this- this was a cruel twist of fate, and Suguru deserved the credit this time.
He slammed his fists against the table, his nerves wreathing in frustration; he demanded she be his.
Was it the room that was warm, or was he heated? Angry at the site of his friend leaning in towards the woman he cherished, tickling her senses and making her giggle- that should have been him. He was supposed to be the one to make her shamelessly laugh amidst a warm sunny afternoon like that. Not him. Not Gojo.
He wanted her. He needed her to be his.
He needed that win.
Suguru was conflicted. Could he really turn into the type of man who would steal a woman away from someone else?
He had the looks, the smarts- heck, he wouldn't deny it was possible.
But from his friend?
He cursed underneath his breath at the way things had turned out.
'It's just a date..' he thought.
Except he knew it wasn't. Suguru sighed; neither of them would see it coming.
Although he was determined to win over her heart no matter the cost, would it be at the cost of his friendship? Or better yet, his morals?
He sighed deeply once more, sinking into his bed sheets. The sun had just begun to set, and he stared at his phone, hopelessly daydreaming about her.
The screen lit up and there came a message that pulled him out of a miserable sulk.
She agreed to see him.
Gojo was out on a mission and wouldn't be back until next week.
This was his chance to turn the tables.
To speak his truth.
This was his moment to sing the song of his heart to her like she had done all this time.
Suguru smiled, then let go of the phone.
'Sorry. Rain check.'
He cursed himself again, and went to sleep.
