Bluestreak really hadn't thought this through. His job had been to keep an eye on the space bridge the Decepticons were building. He was supposed to report to base when or if he found any Decepticons near it. To Bluestreak, it looked as if the Cons had decided the space bridge was going to require too much work and had abandoned it, after all, it seemed to be only half finished and after two days of hiding out in the area, Bluestreak hadn't seen a trace of Decepticons.
Until now.
Bluestreak ducked behind a boulder as a laser shot nearly hit him in the leg. No, he really hadn't thought this through.
"Come on out and play, Auto-dolt!" Starscream mocked, continuing to fire shots in Bluestreak's direction. "You seem to be more quiet than usual. What's the matter? Cyber-cat got your tongue?"
Bluestreak fired a shot at the Seeker, who lazily dodged the blast. Bluestreak needed to get to a better vantage point, but with Starscream so close it wouldn't be easy staying out of the Seeker's range.
"I suppose you came out here to try and destroy the space bridge, didn't you?" Starscream asked, firing one shot after another at the boulder Bluestreak was hiding behind. "What if I offered you a deal? How would you like a spot on the winning team? You forget this whole space bridge thing, and I'll let you come back to the Nemesis with me. I won't let anyone hurt you. Much".
Bluestreak looked over at the space bridge. If he were to hide behind the control panel, it would buy him some time to call for backup. There was no way Starscream would fire at him there and risk damaging the controls. Bluestreak made a run for the space bridge just as the boulder he was taking cover behind was blown to bits by one of Starscream's missiles.
Bluestreak ducked down behind the control panel and began firing at Starscream, clipping one of his wings.
Yes!
"You'll pay for that, Autobot!" Starscream yelled, firing another missile at Bluestreak.
The Autobot rolled out of the way as the missile struck the control panel. The ground began to vibrate as the space bridge was activated.
"Oh, scrap…" Starscream mumbled.
The frame of the space bridge began to crumble, the falling debris being sucked into its vortex. Bluestreak transformed into vehicle mode to make an escape, but found he too was being pulled in by the space bridge. Starscream also transformed into his jet mode but was no match for the pull of the space bridge. Within seconds, the space bridge exploded.
Bluestreak opened his eyes to find a small Skitter looking at him. Bluestreak sat up and the little creature scurried away. Where was he? Bluestreak looked around, he appeared to be in some sort of swamp, but he had no idea where exactly.
Okay, Blue, don't panic…Bluestreak thought to himself. The Skitter could mean he was either on A'ovan, where they were native, or he was still on Cybertron, where Skitters were an invasive species. Bluestreak stood and walked over to the edge of the swamp water, finding a rock covered in glittermoss, a native Cybertronian plant. Good, that meant he was still on Cybertron. Bluestreak tried his commlink. Nothing. Great. Bluestreak tried to recall what areas of Cyberton were covered in swamp, but he couldn't recall the names or locations of any such places. His twin brother, Prowl, probably knew. Ever since they were younglings, Prowl had had his nose shoved in a datapad, reading about one subject or another. Bluestreak sighed and took in his surroundings, then caught sight of something a few feet away. As the Autobot walked closer, he realized it was Starscream, laying face down in the swampy water. Bluestreak considered turning and heading in the other direction, but he decided that if the situation were reversed, he'd like someone to come help him.
Bluestreak walked over to Starscream and used his foot to shove the Seeker. With a cough, Starscream moved onto his hands and knees then, coughing again, used his hands to wipe the sludge from his face.
"You okay?" Bluestreak asked.
"Naturally". Starscream said, standing up. "Not that you would really be concerned".
Bluestreak took a step back as Starscream attempted to transform into jet mode, but clearly the explosion had further damaged the wing Bluestreak had shot, resulting in the Seeker being unable to take flight. Starscream returned to robot mode and surveyed the damaged wing.
Starscream gave a snarl and turned his attention to Bluestreak. "This is all your fault, you know!"
"I'm not the one who shot that control panel!" Bluestreak said. "You did!"
"If you hadn't been a coward and hid behind it I wouldn't have had to shoot it, now would I?"
Bluestreak rolled his eyes. "Okay, whatever. Let's just figure out where we are and how we're going to get back home".
"I know exactly where I am and how to get home!" Starscream said, setting off further into the swamp. "You, on the other hand, will just have to stay out here. Alone".
"It could take days to get back to civilization, it would be better if we worked together, pooled our resources". Bluestreak said.
"What resources?" Starscream said, looking over his shoulder. "I don't see you packing a mess hall on your back".
"I'm just saying we'd have a better chance of getting out of here if we work together".
"You miserable Autobots and your sappy teamwork speeches". Starscream scoffed, disappearing into the forest.
Bluestreak stood thinking for a moment. Chances were good Starscream had absolutely no idea where he was going, but if he really did know a way out of the swamp, it might be a good idea to follow him. At a safe distance of course.
Good idea or not, Bluestreak set off after the Seeker.
