Chapter One
Amaya's mind was spinning as she tried to get away from her attackers. She was running as fast as the wind could take her but they were catching up quickly. Grabbing her side she could still feel the cold embrace from Frost stabbing her with an ice shard. Wind dashing through a park she found herself in the middle of Belltown. Typically she would head to the roof tops to avoid the patrolling D.U.P but right now she needed help, even if it meant putting herself in danger. As Amaya got closer she realized the D.U.P were preparing for a raid. She cursed at herself but still ran right up to an officer.
"Please, I need help! I'm being chased..." she stated. The officer looked her over and noticed she was wounded.
"Calm down miss..." he commented as he reached into his side pocket and pulled out a small device. Her eyes widened when she realized it was a mobile scanner. A gust of wind suddenly blew it out of his hands. She turned to run but he grabbed her arm, "Stop!"
Just as she was about to defend herself ice started to form at his feet.
"Shit." Amaya watched in shock as the officer turned into ice and within moments shattered at her feet.
"Nowhere to run now bitch!" she heard Frost's voice echo as they were running towards her. Luckily other D.U.P officers saw the incident and were approaching quickly. She ran straight into the center of the raid and avoided any officers trying to subdue her. She used her wind abilities to push the officers away—sending them flying into the air, there was no question that they were aware she was a conduit now. Still pushing through them, Amaya glanced over her shoulder to see Frost and the others stuck in the middle of the raid and trying to fight their way out as well. It was the perfect opportunity to escape but just as she was about to wind dash into a nearby vent, she was shot on the shoulder by a D.U.P officer. She stumbled for a few moments but pushed herself to get into the vent. Traveling through it she gasped as she launched herself out and swirled around in the air for a few moments. Soon the pain from her side and shoulder sent her tumbling down.
"Damnit," she cursed as she held her shoulder. She tried to remove the tranquilizer but it was out of her reach. She needed to get further away before she passed out. But she was losing too much blood and getting weak. Attempting to stand up, she suddenly heard a swishing sound come from another vent. Amaya turned to see a mess of smoke turn into a person in midair. She narrowed her eyes trying to identify the person; it wasn't D.U.P and none of her pursuers had the ability to travel through vents like her. She still prepared to defend herself as the person approached her.
"Hey, relax...I just want to help you." It was a young man; he was dressed in a red beanie, denim vest, white hoodie, light denim jeans and black sneakers.
It can't be him, she thought as her eyes landed on the chain around his hand. She quickly put her hand up ready to push him back. He slowly raised his hands as he continued to walk closer to her
"Stay back!" she yelled about to push him away but suddenly her vision started to get blurry. Soon she was too weak to stand anymore and was about to pass out but before she did, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her to catch her. The last thing she heard was the guy calling out to her before everything went black.
Delsin Rowe carefully wrapped his arms around the young woman as she lay motionless in his arms.
"Easy there, beautiful," he pulled the tranquilizer out of her shoulder and looked her over to see if she had any other darts on her. As he did he couldn't help but notice how beautiful she was; curly raven hair that turned purple at the ends, smooth caramel skin and piercings on her nose and lip. She was dressed in a black hoodie, white v-neck t-shirt, light blue distressed shorts, white knee high socks and tall black combat boots. A gust of wind blew a few strands of hair over her face and caused her to flinch in her sleep. Delsin was about to brush them away but didn't want to take the chance of absorbing her power. Just then he noticed the wound on her side.
What happened to you? Delsin thought. Luckily she would heal in her sleep. But wondered who did this to her.
"Delsin!", snapping out of his thoughts, he looked over his shoulder to find Fetch approaching him, "Are you okay? I lost you in the raid."
"I'm fine, Fetch. I saw someone get shot and dash into a vent; I followed to make sure they were okay and found her here." Delsin replied
"Is she okay?" Fetch asked looking her over
"Yeah, just knocked out from a tranq." he replied, "She'll heal in her sleep. We should get her to the reservation so she can rest unharmed."
"….Sure that's the only reason why you want to take her home Smokes?" Fetch teased
"Fetch, seriously this is not the time." Delsin sighed
"I caught you checking her out a few seconds ago." she commented with a smirk. Delsin's face turned slightly red at the statement as he was caught red handed.
"Did you and Eugene clear up the remaining Dups?" he quickly asked to change the subject
"Yeah, we took care of it, but in the middle of it we saw a few Cursed Children. They escaped of course." Fetch replied
"These guys are causing more trouble than needed. Ever since they showed up, Dups have been pushing back with more raids." Delsin stated as he stood up and fully held the young woman in his arms.
"Such a gentleman." Fetch smiled
"Enough Fetch," he sighed, "Let's head back before anything else happens." Fetch nodded and followed him back to the Akomish reservation
