Chapter 2 Mako Island

Kiara and Kovu were surprised, they had dried off but they were still in the form of mermaids.

"How did this happen?" asked Kovu, freaking out a bit. "Why do we still have our tails?"

"That is strange" agreed Bunga in amazement.

"This never happened when Clio, Rikki and Emma have gotten moon spelled" Tiifu jumped in.

"Indeed" agreed Ono.

"The moon did something to us last night," said Kiara. "I wish Cleo and the others were here, they'd know what to do."

"Maybe you can get to them," suggested Kion. Remembering when the mermaids were last visiting, they found a tunnel that led to the sea. "Remember that tunnel that leads to the sea when we discovered the moonpool like the one in Mako island? Maybe you can take it to the ocean and go to Australia."

"What?" exclaimed Simba. "Kion no, it'd be dangerous. We don't even know where Australia is."

"Simba," said Nala. "They might be right; we should let them go to Gold coast and find the mermaids and see if they can help."

"Maybe it's best if we go" Kovu agreed.

Kiara nodded.

"Besides dad," said Kiara grinning. "You know It wouldn't be the first time I've been in danger."

Simba sighed; he knew she was right.

"Alright," he said. "You can go to Australia and find Cleo, Emma, Rikki and Bella. But be careful."

"Don't worry dad," said Kiara nuzzling her father. "We'll be back soon."

Simba picked up Kiara and Kovu by the scruff and placed them in the pool.

Kiara and Kovu dove underwater and went through the tunnel. The tunnel was dark, but they were swimming through it alright. Suddenly they came to a light. Through the light was the ocean.

Kiara and Kovu had never been to the ocean before. They had only seen it in videos the mermaids/humans had shown them. It was beautiful.

They looked close at all the coral and fish for the first time. Fish of every color swum around. They saw starfish, jellyfish and seahorses. The two cubs swum through the ocean very fast.

After swimming through the ocean for a while, the two cubs surfaced and looked around.

"Hey Kovu," called Kiara. "Look."

Kovu turned to look and saw in the distance was an island.

"That looks just like the island Cleo, Emma, Rikki and the others showed us," cried Kiara excitedly. "That's got to be Mako island."

"We'd better be careful," said Kovu. "Remember Emma told us there's sharks around the island? Zane told us sharks are dangerous."

Kiara nodded and they swum towards the island.

JAW

Cleo's class at college was finishing up. Cleo was listening to the teacher's lesson when she suddenly saw a vision.

She could see Mako island and the scene then changed into the moonpool where she saw Kiara and Kovu.

Cleo snapped out of her thoughts as the bell rang. It seemed like a day dream, but it was so real and like a vision.

She gathered up her stuff and went to find Rikki, Bella and Emma. She found them and Will in the hallway.

"Guys," said Cleo softly. "I think I had a vision."

Will and the girls looked at each other in surprise.

"It was like I had a dream," explained Cleo. "I saw Mako island and Kiara and Kovu were in the moonpool."

"You don't think they would come all the way to Gold coast, do you?" asked Bella.

"I don't know," said Rikki. "That'd be crazy!"

"Maybe we should check it out" suggested Cleo.

"Good idea" agreed Emma.

"I'll call Zane and Lewis," said Will.

JAW

Meanwhile, Kiara and Kovu swum closer towards the island.

"Where do why find the moonpool?" asked Kovu.

"There's got to be a tunnel that leads into it," reminded Kiara.

The two dove underwater again and looked around for the tunnel. Kiara looked down and saw the tunnel. The two cubs swum threw it and rose up in the moonpool.

"We're here," said Kovu. "But where do we find Cleo and the others?"

Just then they heard the sound of something coming.

They looked up to see Cleo, Emma, Rikki and Bella coming inside the cave. They had swum off to the island. Not far behind them was Lewis, Zane and Will who had followed them on boat.

"Cleo, Rikki, Bella, Emma," Kiara cried happily. "We're so glad to see you."

"Cleo had a vision of seeing you in the moonpool" explained Rikki.

"What are you two doing here?" asked Zane.

"We need your help," explained Kovu. "Last night the moon was full, and Kiara and I got moonspelled. We fell into the moonpool and when we woke up this morning and dried off, our tails were still here."

The mermaids/humans all looked at each other in surprise.

"We didn't know where else to go," added Kiara.

"This is weird," said Bella.

"This has never happened with us" agreed Emma.

"Maybe we should go back to the pridelands" suggested Lewis.

Everyone turned to look at Lewis in surprise.

"Kiara and Kovu need help," explained Lewis. "And there might be even more questions about their powers."

The girls looked at each other.

"It would be nice to see the pridelanders again" admitted Rikki.

"But how are we going to do our studies while we're in the pridelands?" asked Emma.

"We'll just do online school while we're in Africa" declared Rikki.

Emma nodded.

"We'll meet you back at the moonpool" Cleo told the cubs.

Kiara and Kovu nodded and they dove down out of the pool.

Author's note; The mermaids are going to be heading back to the pridelands. Will they be able to solve the mystery of Kiara and Kovu's powers?
