My pov

Alan is warning me but somehow it is more like that he is helping me . I didn't say anything but nod at him. He walks away from me . I know that he is hiding something. I want to go grabs something to drink in the cafeteria .

I walk toward the cafeteria and there are no one inside it except few dauntless members. I spot ted sitting there alone . Maybe he is friend with Alan so he can tell me something about him

I don't know why I am so curious about Alan than ted or anyone else .

"Hey Delia， why are you here ?" Sam walks toward me ." are you looking for something?"

"I am looking for someone who can answer my questions ." I shrug.

"What is your questions" Sam folds his arms." Maybe we can talk. Go with me to grab something to drink."

We walk to the bar . I don't know what can I get

"Drink any alcohol!" Sam asks

"What mr Davis likes to drink?" I frown

"Beer." Sam answers." You want that?"

I nod at him . Sam orders me a beer so I start to drink

"What is your question?" Sam fumbles his fingers

"What is mr Davis's hiding for ? He looks tired and exhausted but when I asked him for anything， he didn't tell me ." I lower my head

"Why you care about him so much?" Sam giggles." You like him?"

I shake my head . I don't like him in that way but I feel different .

"I don't but somehow I don't know why I am worried about him." I sigh

"He is doing something that max asked him to do . Linda has a crush on him but he is tired of it." Sam explains

"What thing?" I frown

"I can't say that. That is a top secret . Maybe if he trusts you enough in the future ， then he will tell you." Sam pats me on my shoulder." I can see that you are special for him"

Special? How can I be special for a leader of dauntless?

"It must be a joke." I laugh

"Maybe but I know him for so long. He didn't do anything to protect anyone but you." Sam stands up." Be careful stiff . Especially around him"

Sam walks away . I sit there drinking my drink. It is bitter . Why Alan Davis likes it? Maybe alcohol will hide everything for him .

"What did he ever experienced before?" I talk to myself." I have to find out."

Alan Davis's pov

Delia is the first person ever care about me but she will be a mistake . If I tell her then she will know what divergent is . I have to talk to tori for her result because that is what I am worried about.

"Alan!" A female voice interrupts me.

"Yes?" I turn around and see Linda is standing right there

Even she is the daughter for Jeanine and I don't care.

"I don't want to see you right here anymore ." I shout." I don't like you."

"I know but I hear something interesting about you and a girl ." Linda walks toward me

"What?" I wander

Is that girl Delia! I start to feel nervous.

"I heard that you like her but she is someone your best friend likes." Linda brushes her hair

"Shut up Linda . Don't put your hand on her ." I clinch my teeth." Even a little"

"Alan you are strange. You never care about anyone this much" Linda shakes her head .

I know but I can't control myself . I want to leave

"You have feeling for her already." Linda calls me .

"I don't . I promise that I will never take Delia away from Ted." I say

"You will. You are already doing it." Linda laughs." Your love to her will destroy her"

She leaves and I turn around to start climbing. I reach the tattoo store . Tori is there

"Tori." I sit down

"Yes mr Davis ." She stands up.

"You can call me Alan. I have something to ask you." I say

Tori puts down her needles . She is staring at me

"You can ask." Tori lowers her voice

"I want to ask about delia's result. You ran her test. Tori I know that is secret but that is the matter of her life . Max wanted me to find out the divergent and rid of them. I have to find out about Delia. " I am in the state of hurry

"Why do you want to know about that. Even ted didn't ask me." Tori shakes her head

I don't know what to tell her . I need an answer .

"I just care about her . She is the first person ever care about me ." I say." Please I am begging you."

"Yes she is divergent Alan. She is more divergent than any other divergent. Other may only have two results but she has five ." Tori gives me a gesture." I am worried that you can't protect her unless she made to leadership."

My pov

It is soon that we start the first session of training. I get up early in the morning. My muscle are still hurting from jumping off and on a running train. Elizabeth and Elisa are brushing their teeth. I dressed up slowly and walk toward them.

"Four and Eric are fighting this morning. They woke us up except you." Elisa rolls her eyes." You have such good sleeping quality."

"Why are they fighting?" I ask

"I don't know . Maybe it is just because Eric was erudite so he hates four ." Elizabeth shrugs ." However he doesn't hate you."

Maybe just because i am friend with Abby so he sees me different way.

"Maybe I am a good friend with his ex girlfriend." I laugh.

"You mean Abby ?" Eric stands beside me." Oh yes that's because of her ."

"Oh I am ex girlfriend to your elder brother . " I giggle

Eric washed his face. His face is bruise . I think that is from four

"We haven't learn how to fight but why you guys are fighting." I touch his cheek

"Don't touch it. It is hurt." Eric snorts.

"You need to go to infirmary. Come with me." I grab his arm and yank him outside

Alan is now standing with max . He looks at us

"What's wrong with his face?" Alan walks toward us

"He hits his face by accident so I bring him to the infirmary ." I explain

"You aren't Candor aren't you? He was fighting with four." Alan smirks." He should get punished ."

I stand between Alan and Eric . I can see jealousy from his eyes but why?

"No he doesn't. You can't be this cruel to other mr Davis . He is my friends and I should help him." I drag Eric with me

"Delia, aren't you afraid that he will don something to you. He can kill someone like killing an ant." Eric stops me .

"No." I keep walking.

We walk to the nursing room. A nurse checks Eric out.

"He is fine . Are you his girlfriend?" Nurse smiles

"No please don't say that! He is just my friend ." I shake my head

They give Eric some medicine . Eric looks at me

"You know that I was fighting with Abby . So why you choose to help me ." Eric doesn't understand

"You are not an awful person but just don't know how to control yourself Eric. Sometime it is not only your fault but you know Abby's personality." I sigh." Let's go."

Alan Davis pov

I stand in the training room. Delia is standing beside Eric . Eric and Delia are friends but I know that erudite doesn't associate with abnegation. Maybe Eric is dauntless now so he doesn't care .

"So I will explain how the stage one go." Ted clears his throat." You will have three stages of training. The first stage mainly physical , you will combat your body to the last point. The second is emotional and keep yourself calm is important in the midst of the fear . The third stage is mental, either you defeat your fears or fears conquered you."

"Also at the end of each stage training , you will be ranked accordingly . The rank serves two purposes . One is the order you will choose your jobs. Leader ship, guarding the fence or stopping the Factionless from killing each other."

I know what he is about to say. I step up a little

"The rank also determines who gets cut."

"Cut?" Elizabeth groans

"At the end of each stage except stage two, the last three initiates will be leaving us . You will train separately with dauntless born but you will rank together with them. It can be all of you neither of them or all of them but neither of you. They are already better so I expect." I shrug

"So what do we do if we get cut?" Asked William

I raise my eyebrows . He is stupid for asking that question.

"You can't go home so you live factionless." I play with knife in my hand

I look at Amar . He looks at me .

"Were you from erudite before?" I ask

"Yes I was." Amar nods at me

"Do you know about Eric?" I frown

Amar nods his head . He knows about Eric

"However I think that you should worry about Delia and Eric's brother more than she and Eric." Amar smirks." You don't really know her that's well Alan."

"What?" I am shocked

Eric has a brother? What relationship he had with Delia? Ted is back very soon. Delia is standing behind him with her eyes wide .

"So time to go lunch. We will start the training this afternoon ." Ted coughs." What's wrong Alan?"

"Nothing." I shake my head

We all go to lunch. I am curious but I can't ask.

"Alan are you confused about something."

Damn it Delia , why are you asking me ?

"Yes but it's none of your business . Leave me alone ." I am frustrated

"No!" She folds her arms."I am unable to."
