HOKEY POKEY

"Hey Mr. and Mrs. Howell!" Gilligan replied as the Howells entered the clearing. "Watch out for the Boobies!"

"Oh dear!" Mrs. Howell replied as Mr. Howell covered his eyes with his hand. "Is Kahla'kekoa walking around naked after her shower again?"

"No!" Gilligan replied as Kahla'kekoa stepped out from behind him and shook her head. "The blue footed birds coming this way!"

Gilligan quickly pulled the Howells off to the side as a flock of birds with their wings spread open ran into the clearing. They all had black faces, brown and white spotted heads, brown wings and white stomachs. Half of them were small in size and had small pupils and the bigger ones had wider pupils. All of them had bright blue feet.

As they watched the smaller birds each extended a foot out to the bigger ones and waved them. They grunted and put their feet down and did the same with their other ones. Then they began flapping their wings and marching in place.

"Awe it looks like they're doing the Hokey Pokey!" Gilligan chuckled.

"The what!" Mr. Howell asked as he put his arm protectively around Mrs. Howell.

"You never did the Hokey Pokey dance at parties?" Gilligan asked confused.

"No we were more into the Waltz and ballroom dancing!" Mr. Howell asked as they continued watching the birds dance. "Just what is the Hokey Pokey?"

"I was just teaching it to Kahla'kekoa last night!" Gilligan replied smiling down at Kahla'kekoa. "We'll show you!"

Gilligan and Kahla'kekoa walked a few feet away and stood side by side. They both stuck their right feet out.

'Put your right foot in,' Gilligan began to sing then stuck their feet out behind them. 'Take your right foot out. Put your right foot in, and you shake it all about. Do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around, that's what it's all about!'

Kahla'kekoa smiled and waved at the Howell's to join them. They smiled and went and stood next to Gilligan. The birds grunted behind them and continued to march in place.

'Put your left foot in, take your left foot out!' Gilligan sang as Kahla'kekoa and the Howell's laughed. 'Put your left foot in, and you shake it all about!'

'Do the Hokey and Pokey and you turn yourself around!' Gilligan sang as Mr. Howell twirled Mrs. Howell.

'That's what it's all about!' Gilligan sang as he twirled Kahla'kekoa.

Kahla'kekoa motioned for Mrs. Howell to switch places with her.

'Put your right arm in!' Gilligan sang as everyone stuck out their arms. 'Take your right arm out. Put your right arm in, and you shake it all about. Do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around, that's what it's all about!'

'Put your left arm in!' Gilligan sang as everyone stuck out their arms. 'Take your left arm out. Put your left arm in, and you shake it all about.'

'Do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around!' Gilligan sang as he twirled Mrs. Howell.

'That's what it's all about!' Gilligan sang as Mr. Howell twirled Kahla'kekoa.

'Put your whole self in!' Gilligan sang as they lined back help, held hands and took a step forward.

'Take your whole self out!' Gilligan sang as they took a step back. 'Put your whole self in, and you shake it all a-bout.'

'Do the Hokey and Pokey and you turn yourself around!' Gilligan sang as they all turned around. 'That's what it's all about!'

Kahla'kekoa smiled up at Mr. Howell at stepped onto his feet and hugged his feet and hugged his waist. Gilligan placed a hand on Mrs. Howell's shoulder who took out her camera from her clutch and took a picture.

"Everybody!" Gilligan exclaimed as the rest of the castaways stepped into the clearing as Mr. Howell began to dance with Kahla'kekoa on his feet and they all began to sing.

'Do the Hokey Pokey, Do the Hokey Pokey, Do the Hokey Pokey, that's what it's all about!' Everyone sang as as tears ran down their faces.

"Thank you Kahla'kekoa!" Mr. Howell replied as he knelt down and hugged her. "That was fun!"

"Well Comb!" Kahla'kekoa replied as the birds cawed loudly and began flying off.

A couple of whistles caught their attention. Two birds remained in the clearing circling each other and bobbing their heads up and down. They faced each other and extended their wings. They marched in place for a few more minutes then the bigger one bent down, picked up a stick and gave it to the smaller one. He grunted and took the stick.

"Yay way to go Sky and Blue!" Gilligan replied as everyone clapped.

Sky whistled and they both flew off.

A.N. The Blue-Footed Booby is a marine bird found in tropical areas of the Pacific Ocean. They are mostly recognized by their bright blue feet which they get through their diet. They use their feet to attract mates along with dancing.

Females are bigger than the males. They have a wingspan of 5 feet. They dive fast from great heights to feed. Instead of a nest they use their feet to incubate their eggs.
