Summary: Some Angels are blessed with a Bonded, someone who might as well be their other half. For Asmo, that was Kagome. The bond is strong, and not even the fall into the Devildom was enough to sever it. The Exchange Program brings her down from the Celestial Realm, and the pull is stronger than ever, but things are far from how they once were.

Pairing: Asmo/Kagome

Disclaimer: I do not own either series. Each belongs to their rightful owners.

Prologue

The words spoken fell upon her dazed mind. Brilliant, shining garments donned her lithe frame, fabric shuffling ever so slightly when her posture straightened a bit more. Her eyes, a jewel-like hue of blue, sparkled just like gemstones as she gazed up at the marvelous figure in front of her. She was just about to ask for him to repeat when the younger angel at her side beat her to it.

Ever the excitable one, wasn't he?

"W-What did you say?" Luke's voice was painted clearly with the surprise she refused to show on her porcelain face.

"There's no need to sound so alarmed," Simeon chuckled from her other side. She glanced at him from the corner of her eye. He noticed, offering a kind smile her way that she was swift to ignore. "It's a wonderful chance to grow, don't you think, Kagome?"

"..." The sparkling jewel around her neck seemed to reflect light from an unidentified source. Michael looked at her, deep blue trained on her face. She didn't bother to meet his stare as she turned on her heel to depart from the room.

"Eh?" Luke turned to watch her, eyes wide at her departing figure. He wanted to follow his sister, but…- "Kagome?"

"She's excited, truly," Simeon stated with a laugh peppering his words.

The door closed behind her, and Kagome let out a sigh in the security of her own room. Colors like pastel cotton candy covered the walls, floor, and ceiling. She didn't bother locking the door- knowing perfectly well how the other two would only come after her- and she walked over to her bed. Without waiting, she fell face-first into the soft mattress. The pearly white dress she wore bunched at her thighs as she inched herself more into bed as if she were a worm. Her face reached one of the dozens of pillows, and she rolled over, gazing up at the ceiling that looked like clouds itself.

Her heart was beating a mile a minute. A knock echoed from her door, and she glanced over to the gold-lined frame. She knew perfectly well who it was, and the door opened as she sat up. She fixed her dress back down to cover her legs modestly.

Luke barreled in as he often did, running to her side and sitting on the edge of her bed. "I can't believe we're being sent to that place…" he mumbled, folding his arms over his chest and letting a concerned look paint his face. "Those devils… what if-!"

"It could always be worse," Kagome said as a reminder. "We could be going to the human realm and end up crossing paths with some shady sorcerer," she added, her expression going grim. They both looked at her, knowing she had a point to her claim.

"You're never going to forgive him for that, are you?" Simeon asked. Kagome looked at him.

"I got thrown into the past and stuck with a cursed jewel," she deadpanned. "What do you think, Sim?" He chuckled at her flat tone. "The next time I see him…-" He's gonna have it coming!

She pushed the thought far from her mind, ignoring the annoyance she felt at the memory. The inconvenience of it all had lasted longer than necessary, and it left a bad taste in her mouth the longer she dwelled on it.

"Simeon's right," Kagome said, glancing at Luke. "This is a wonderful chance for growth," she stated. He seemed to mull over it some more, and she leaned into him, letting her shoulder nudge his own. He responded by leaning into her, resting his head on her shoulder. "Anyone could've been chosen," she added with a hum. "It's a wonderful opportunity to experience a difference."

"Yeah, but…"

"Michael has high hopes for you," she continued. She didn't miss the way his eyes lit up at her claim. "Don't fret so much, Luke. It's very chihuahua-like, you know."

"Hey!" He bundled his hands into fists at her comment while Simeon chuckled. He glared at her, and she laughed.

"See?" she mused. "Be a bit bolder."

She backed off, not pushing too much, and she rose to her feet.

"I, at the very least, think this will be a divine chance," she stated as she paused in front of her large mirror.

Her reflection stared back at her. A light was present within her naturally brilliant eyes.

Still, even as she said that to convince herself, her heart still felt heavy within her chest. No matter how hard she worked to ignore it, the pull was still there. It was strong, never seeming to fade over the many years.

There was one thing she was worried about, but she didn't let it show. She didn't voice it. She didn't breathe life into her concerns.

No matter how hard she tried, it never faded.

It was almost smothering, but she liked to think she had decent self-control. Sure, other angels had better than her, but she certainly didn't lack in the skill. Still, that did nothing to erase the overwhelming tugging that flowed through her core. She ignored it.

However, that only really worked if the other person in question did the same. The moment their eyes met, she knew exactly what was about to happen. She could only take a step back before her personal space was invaded.

Her hands were taken in a gentle grip, and she looked up automatically. Her blue gaze met shimmering orange, and her heart felt full. His smile was contagious, or maybe it was her own happiness finally bubbling up. She couldn't be sure. Getting too close wouldn't go well, she knew, but still…

She was helpless to ignore it.

"Look at you!" Asmo cooed, hands leaving her own to cup the sides of her face. "Your hair's grown so long- how beautiful!"

For a moment, she forgot she'd gone ahead to Purgatory Hall to avoid this confrontation. It would seem he lacked the self-control she had, and he'd come to her on his own.

"Me?" she said with a faint laugh. She reached up to brush his hair from his face. "How about you?" she chimed. "Even in the Devildom, you're so beautiful, Asmo."

Her praise made him beam. The praises from others had nothing on hearing them from her. The pit inside him felt fuller than ever having her before him and hearing her praise him.

She glanced around him, spotting Simeon and Luke finally coming to join her. With them was someone else, and she froze. Her smile faded when a million memories rampaged through her mind.

A white-haired man stared back at her. A second later, he lifted a hand in a wave.

"Oh, imagine meeting you here like this, Angel."

"... you." The word was a sharp hiss. She easily tugged herself free from Asmo's hold, much to his chagrin, as she took a tentative step toward the human. Her expression didn't betray her emotions.

"Ah… right," Simeon rubbed the back of his neck with a wry smile. "You might want to run," he cautioned. "Fast, too. Kagome happens to be Michael's favorite, so it goes to say she's quite strong."

Solomon looked between them, catching on, and he backed up a step. "Now now… if you only let me explain-" he said with a faint laugh. A second later, he turned and ran off.

Kagome took off after him the moment he fled. "Get back here, you poor excuse for a sorcerer!"

Asmo glanced at Simeon, puzzled. He looked back at him with a smile on his face. "It's a long story, I'm afraid," he explained.

"Should someone stop her?" Luke asked after a few seconds.

"I will after she's run herself out a bit," Simeon offered. "If I try now, I'm worried I might get pulled into the mix."

Auroua-chan: I've wanted to do this for a long time!

Pairing is final.

A little bit of change to Kagome's feudal era adventure- with Solomon being the root cause for it in this story. More will come on that soon, but Kagome isn't exactly pleased with one of her new housemates.

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading and I hope you all enjoyed. Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.
