Minerva POV
"NO!"
I screamed before I had even processed it. It couldn't be true. That sweet caring brave boy! My eyes brimmed with tears, but I wouldn't let one other child, another of my children, fall to their hands.
"Come forward, and join us! Or die."
Evil, Sadistic, Monster! Did he really think any of us-
"Draco. Draco please-"
My heart stopped. I knew Draco would stay with us against his Father's pleading, but if Narcissa pled with him, he would join them. I knew I had to do something.
"Narcissa"
Narcissa POV
"Narcissa"
It had been so long since I heard Professor McGonagall's Scottish Brogue say my name. She had only used it once when I was in school, when she found me crying in the girls toilet after Rodolphus dumped me for Bella. Bella never understood how much that hurt me, but somehow McGonagall did. She comforted me, told me how a boy named Tom had done the same to her. Helped me dry my eyes, and then she gently said "Narcissa, dear, when boys are hurtful, that's how you know that they aren't the right one for you." she smiled thinly, patted my shoulder, and walked out.
I couldn't fight against Hogwarts, against children, and especially not against her. I took Lucius' arm, and whispered in his ear.
"We can't fight against Hogwarts, or against children."
He looked at me for a second, bewildered at first, then he nodded and we were aware of everyone looking at us. We simultaneously twisted, and apparated to stand behind Draco. Everyone was looking at us with shock, but McGonagall had pride in her eyes as well. I nodded at her and then whispered to Draco.
"We're with you, Draco. Wherever you need us."
He hugged me as his eyes filled with tears.
Then Harry jumped up from Hagrid's arms, momentarily distracting the Dark Lord. Draco yelled "Harry!" and threw his wand to the chosen one. Harry caught it, but the Dark Lord's attention was refocused on us.
"Avada-"
He was cut off as a spell hit him square in the chest. McGonagall looked furious, determined, and very, very scary. She then blocked three, no doubt deadly, curses with golden statues that looked strangely like the statues from the ministry fountain, and the last battle of Hogwarts was on. Lucius joined Flitwick to take out Dolohov, and I ran off to find my sister.
Minerva POV
He's good. That's the only thing I could think as I tried my best to land anything on him. Rabbits, birds, desks, and many, many rocks flew at him, but he always managed to block them and send several spells back at me. Thank God Albus's enchantment on the statues hadn't gone away yet, they had saved more lives tonight than anyone could have imagined. At least whatever feelings he had for me were gone. All that was in those snakelike eyes was hatred. There was room for nothing else. Then Harry joined in with us. His technical skill left something to be desired, but there was no denying the force and power behind every one of his spells. And he was young enough to dodge spells physically. Me and Horace didn't have that advantage, especially with his weight and me exhausted from fighting all night. Him going to get reinforcements was a stroke of genius, I would have to thank him for th- shzzzz! Phew, that was a little too close. Got to keep fighting. "Stupefy!"
Narcissa POV
I found Bella fighting three girls, one of them was the mud- muggle born from Easter. They were performing admirably, but they were ultimately no match for my battle-ax of a sister. A nasty curse came very close to the red-head, and they were all pushed aside by a woman I recognized instantly. Molly Weasley. The girl must be a Weasley then. Bella taunted her about losing her son, and I knew I had to stop her. I'm not the elite duelist my sister or husband are, but I can hold my own. Especially in a surprise attack. I cast a silent stunner from behind her, and down she fell. The girls looked at me in shock, as Molly narrowly sent her spell away from me. "Why?" The muggle-born looked at me with curiosity and disbelief as she asked. "For Draco, and Minerva, '' I said simply. Then I felt it, as the Dark Lord turned his full fury on his betrayer. Minerva and Harry ducked his wave of pure, raw, anger, while Professor Slughorn and Shacklebolt flew backwards in a red blast. Minerva flicked her wand towards me and the house elf from the fountain appeared in front of me, protecting me while Lucius, Draco, and I worked up a shield together. We all stood proudly behind it, and Voldemort's spells could not break it. It seemed easier to hold a shield than normal, though as to why I cannot guess.
Minerva POV
That blast of fury was something else. I sent the house elf to protect Narcissa, and then turned my attention back to him. I knew that, as far as magical power went, in this duel I was out of my league. I had to make sure I was at the top of my game otherwise, especially since my workload had doubled. The duel continued for at least a minute, though for me it felt like hours. Then Harry cried "STOP!". Me and Tom both turned to look at him in shock, since we both knew he would fight as long as he could. He was in my house, after all. Harry proceeded to tell everyone that Snape was a good guy? Because of Lily? I couldn't believe it! My last words to one of my closest colleagues (Just a Random Tuesday) was calling him a coward?! Towards the end of his speech, I saw Narcissa. She was raising her wand? Since Tom and I were facing each other, she was behind him. Harry winked at her, (I had kept myself in-between him and Tom,) and Tom only managed a half turn before a green light forced the last fragment of his soul from his body. At first, no-one could believe it, then I was hugging Harry, and we were running at the Malfoy's, and everyone was so happy that we had defeated our enemy.
20 hours later
It was morning, the first morning of the post-Voldemort era, and the first of many Cleanup mornings. I woke at 7am sharp, as per usual, and forced my hair into its customary tight bun. The gash on my face had healed nicely, but I knew the bruises would remain for quite some time, especially at my age. Why did there have to be so much ducking involved in dueling? I took a small pain-relieving potion, and walked out to the great hall. We had repaired this room only yesterday, as it was a massive room and we needed somewhere to eat. The Malfoy's had stayed and pledged their financial support wherever it was needed. Lucius had gone with the Aurors, to help round up some that were in secret hidey-holes that only death eaters knew about. I sat with Narcissa and Draco at breakfast, and she told me how she still remembered the time I found her in the bathroom. It would take work, but perhaps Slytherin house could regain its former honor and glory. Severus's story would help with that for sure.
Narcissa POV
I was surprised to know that she still remembered that one time all those years ago, but it was a welcome surprise. I hope I showed her that I am truly reformed, and I plan to help with the cleanup around the castle.
The End
I hope y'all enjoyed it! I have always had this idea in my mind, but decided to actually write it this time. This is my first fanfic, so any comments/feedback is greatly appreciated! Couple of notes: I stuck with the movie throughout the courtyard, then went to the book canon after the battle moved inside, aside from my changes 😄 I saw Minerva in the last duel as sort of a Count Dooku, very skilled, but not as powerful or as young as Harry or Voldemort. I'm not putting her down at all, I mean she hung in there the whole time, but Voldemort and Harry's power were beyond hers. I think she was far more skilled than harry, and maybe even a touch more skillful that Voldemort. Also, Harry's sacrifice is the reason the Malfoy's shield held. Again, any feedback is welcome!
