"So you say your quirk is…?" All Might is sitting in front of him at the table, sipping tea his mother lovingly prepared when a stranger showed up at the door with her son in his arms, saying he brought him after he was attacked by a villain.
"Copycat," Izuku supplies the name, "As I said it copies skills."
"But what exactly does that entail?" The blonde asks, still bewildered.
"Well, for one, it's passive, so I can't really control who I get it from. It's transferred by touch. Uh… It copies a person's entire skillset and transfers it to me. I don't really get memories unless they're absolutely key to understanding the skillset… And that's about it?" Izuku offers.
"I… still don't fully understand." All Might admits sheepishly, "But I'm starting to. So you're saying that you now have every single skill I've acquired in my life?"
Izuku nods, and sips his tea, not quite trusting his voice to not waver in the fear that his childhood idol might be mad.
"That's amazing. Have you ever tried transferring the skills to someone else?"
"No, I've never tried that… But I don't think I can do it. It would show up in my skillset…" Izuku squirms under All Might's gaze. He knows he did an incredibly stupid thing, throwing himself at a villain like that, but he also can't regret it. He saved Kacchan. That's a good enough reason to do anything.
"I have… an offer for you." All Might says gravely, and Izuku is instantly all ears as the hero's voice turns into whisper. "You asked me what One For All is… It is my quirk, and I can pass it on. I would like to pass it on to you."
It's a close thing, but Izuku barely ends up not passing out again. He just sits numbly as All Might explains the secrets of One For All to him, and then nods, still numb when All Might asks if he accepts the offer.
And then All Might starts drafting up a training plan for him and he almost passes out again just seeing how much effort he'll have to put into bulking up.
But it's alright. He'll finally stop being useless. It will be alright.
