Batman: Alice in Wonderland

*A little girl begins to come out of unconsciousness. After realizing she is now awake, she sits up rather quickly and takes in the shocking surroundings. She looks around and finds that she appears to be in a dark room. With only a small lamp turned on near the far right corner on a nightstand illuminating the room from being completely in the darkness.
The little girl looks to be around 10 or 11 years of age with shoulder length blonde hair. As the fear runs through her body at not knowing where she is, she discovers the clothes she is wearing. A blue Victorian dress, with white tights, and Mary Jane Shoes.
Her terror doubles at the sight of these clothes. She wasn't wearing these before. She didn't remember putting these on. How and when did she get in these? She felt so confused.
She now starts to whimper. She starts shaking like a leaf, and then starts crying softly. How did she get here? Where was her Mom and Dad? Why was she in this scary place, wherever it was?*
"H-h-helllo?" She quietly called out. "Hello?" A little louder this time. No answer. Tears run down the little girl's face as she starts to shake and whimper again.
"Hello, indeed." A sinister voice came from the shadows. The little girl felt her blood run cold through her body. The tone of that voice made her skin crawl.
*A door in the middle of the room opens. The shadow illuminating in the doorway shows a small figure. He appeared to be wearing a hat of some kind.
When she saw that dark figure standing there in the doorway, she began to think back. It only took a few seconds before she remembered what it was. She was sleeping in her room back at her home. While that happened, she was awoken by a small sound.
While groggy, she looked up at what the sound was, and saw that dark figure. Standing right next to her bed. She couldn't see his face, but before she could scream for her Mom and Dad, she was silenced. This black figure put a rag in her face. She could smell the toxic liquid that was on the rag. She couldn't breathe. Her nose and mouth were being forced closed by this black figure, who had somehow broken into her home. The world started to spin around her. She was starting to lose her equilibrium. Everything started to go black. She couldn't fight it.
That was the last thing she remembered before awakening in this dark room. Seeing this dark figure in the doorway. That very figure reached his hand into the room on the left and flipped a lightswitch.
The room flooded with lights now turned on. The little girl shields her eyes at first, due to the light hurting her eyes for a brief second. However, when she opens them, she sees a horrifying sight. She finally saw who this dark figure's face was.
There, standing at the entrance, was a short looking man. Looking about close to his mid 40's, He was wearing a dark green suit with matching dress pants. He had a dark blue bowtie and a black top hat. He had a single white glove on his left hand and a hideous looking face. And a terrifying smile that could send chills down the spine of anyone.
"Hello, Alice." The man said in a very creepy tone, folding his hands together.
The little girl was shaken when she took in the sight of this man. This….Boogeyman like person. This was the type of person that her parents would warn her about. The definition of Stranger Danger.
"My name is Jervis Tetch. Welcome…to Wonderland." He told her while he spun around the room with a little twirl. Showing how happy he appeared to look.
She took the opportunity to look around the room he called "Wonderland." The room was filled with a bunch of hats. Some like the one he was currently wearing. Some that looked like gallon hats, beanie hats, cowboy and cowgirl hats, and many others. Seemed Jervis was a hat collector.
What the room also had was a bunch of framed pictures. However, these pictures didn't have family members or wonderful memories from the past. No, these pictures showed this man's clear mental state. His obsession.
The pictures in this room were of a cheshire cat smiling that same demented looking smile that Jervis did. Pictures of a white rabbit with a clock, looking at it in a very worried expression. Pictures of a pair of grotesque looking twins, both with a bald head, matching clothes that had black pants with dark red suspenders, black and white striped t-shirts, and black dress shoes. Pictures of a hideous, short woman with bright red hair, blue eyeshadow and clothes that could only have been made in the 1800's. Maybe longer than that.
The little girl then looked at one picture in particular and felt her heart raise with fear. She saw a picture of a short man, wearing a green top hat, a light green suit with matching pants, and a yellow bowtie. He was serving tea to a little girl that had long blonde hair, a light blue Victorian dress with white tight, and Mary Jane shoes. Just like what she was wearing now. The short man in this picture, minus a few color differences, looked identical to the man, who apparently had abducted her from her home.
After a brief second of thoughts, she realized that these were all characters from the famous novel by Lewis Carrol, Alice in Wonderland. She was looking at, what appeared to be, The Mad Hatter. The real life Mad Hatter.
Jervis Tetch, or The Mad Hatter, smiled his sadistic looking smile at her, trying to come across as sincere to her. However, the little girl wasn't having any of it. This wasn't the same funny and loveable character from the Disney film she loved to watch. She could see right through this guy. He was a complete psycho. Then, she remembered something. The name he just called her.
Alice. But that's not her name.
"M-m-m-My name's not Alice. It's Sarah."
"NO! NO, IT'S NOT!" Jervis Tetch screamed in a sudden rage, stamping his feet like a child throwing a tantrum. That caused the girl to shut up and whimper again. More tears fell down her face.
She then felt his hideous hand, which didn't have the glove on it, touch her face. She pulled away from him, not wanting to feel his hands anywhere on her body. Who knows where they might've been.
"It's okay, Alice. I didn't mean to raise my voice." He said, still caressing her face, while speaking in a voice, trying to sound comforting, but only came across more sinister and untrusting.
"W-Where are my parents? I want my Mom and Dad! P-Please, mister. I promise I won't tell anyone. Just, please let me go. Please." She cried, more tears falling down her face, while still not looking at the hideous, ugly little man.
He pulled her face toward his to make him look at her. Looking at him from further away was bad, but now up close? It was like looking at the face of a truly evil man. That's all she saw here in this man's face. Pure evil. That, or a complete psychopath. Maybe both.
"Don't cry, Alice. My dear, sweet Alice. We have rescued you. We have found you. We finally found our Alice." He said, now taking his hand away from her, and walking backwards toward the door.
Sarah looked confused. "We?" She asked.
When she asked that, a few more figures came into the room, frightening her even more than she already was.
The first one was a woman of short to slightly medium height. She looked to be about in her late 20's. She had long, and admittedly, very pretty looking white hair that flowed down to her shoulders. She wore a piece of white lingerie that covered her breasts and midsection, a small and fluffy tail on her pink panties, and long white boots on her legs. She had a half eaten carrot in one hand(of which she was munching on), and in the other hand, she had a roque mallet that had blood and hair on the hard part.
The second one was a very large and tall looking woman. She had a very poofy looking, ruby red hairstyle, an old fashioned looking black and red dress, black dress shoes, and wore blue eyeshadow on her very grotesque looking face. Speaking of eyes, hers looked as if they pierced your soul with. Eyes terrifying to look at. Dead eyes. And a smile that appeared just as psychotic as Mr. Tetch. She also had a large ax in her hand. What made it scarier for the little girl was that there also appeared to be blood on it as well. Whose blood was it?
The other two were medium height bald men. Identical twins from the look of it. They both wore red suspenders, blue beanie hats, and black and white striped shirts underneath the suspenders. The little girl also saw that the two men had guns in their pockets. She wasn't an expert on guns, but she just had a sinking feeling that those guns were fired not too long ago.
Sarah looked around the room again and saw that all the people in this room resembled what the characters in the photos looked like. 5 very disturbing looking people that could kill her in a split second if they chose to do so.
"Welcome to your NEW family, my dear sweet Alice." Jervis Tetch said, presenting his gang of psychos to her.
She knew it now. She was trapped. Trapped with these psychopaths who wanted her for some reason. She was never gonna see her parents again. Was she gonna be seen by anybody again?
If there was a slight hint of hope out there, she hoped somebody would find her and get her away from these psycho's.
-/- Crime Scene -/-
*The next scene cuts to a small house somewhere on the outer parts of Gotham City. The GCPD were parked outside. Police cars with their lights on, surrounding the property. We see Commissioner Jim Gordon, smoking a cigarette, enter the home with Renee Montoya, fellow GCPD officer. Walking through the hallway, they are followed by two of their closest allies in Gotham City. Two people he trusts with his life. Granted, maybe not all of the officers on the force do, but he was in charge. So that's all that mattered.
Batman, who was Playboy Billionaire Bruce Wayne, under the cape and cowl, and Robin, who was his biological son, 12 year old Damian Wayne, under the mask and cape.
"Certainly a good time to interrupt our nightly patrol, isn't it Batman?" Robin sarcastically asked, while following behind Batman, Gordon and Montoya into the living room.
"This is what we do, Robin. Don't complain." Batman said, causing Robin to roll his eyes at his father's comment.
"Sorry for the interruption, Robin." Renee Montoya said. "But, when we got the call, we knew we needed you two."
"Yeah. I'm gonna warn ya now, Batman: Your little friend here may be too young to see this horrific crime. If I were you, I'd tell him to wait in the Batmobile." Gordon said, blowing a puff of smoke from his nostrils.
"I would. But, he knows how to drive. And how to hack. So, I'm not taking any chances." Batman said, looking at Robin, who turned his head with a "Hmph" sound.
"You're just mad, because your plan for me to stay put didn't work last time, now did it?" Robin said with an arrogant grin. Batman gave him that glare that he would give to other members of the Justice League to let them know he ain't messing around.
Robin looked away from his gaze. He hated when his father looked at him like that. He knew he wouldn't win when he saw that gaze. It was impossible to even try. Now, by this point, they had walked past the kitchen. They were now standing in front of a door that led to the living room.
"Don't say I didn't warn ya. Well, here we go." Gordon said, taking a deep breath. Opening the door, they were greeted with a horrible sight.
A married couple, man and woman, and another person, were lying dead in the living room. Blood was everywhere. On the rugs, the couch, the white walls, even on the television screen. One victim looked to be around his late thirties. He had a simple checkered, working shirt on with black jeans. There were 5 bullet holes in his body. One to the forehead(clean through), two to the chest, one to the abdomen, and one to his left shoulder. His eyes were still open with shock.
It appeared to Batman that this guy never had a chance to react. He must've been surprised by someone or something. Question was: how did he get surprised?
The next victim was a blond haired woman, also in her late 30's. She had a blue dress shirt on with tan dress pants. Blunt force trauma to the head. She appeared to have had the back of her head bashed in repeatedly by some heavy object.
When Robin saw that, it was clear to him that someone got her from behind. Probably snuck up behind her and did the deed. The poor woman never stood a chance. Question for him was: How did the attacker get her from behind without the victim noticing her?
However, if that wasn't enough, then the next one would certainly do it for all of them. There was another man, who looked about in his mid 30's. He wore a black t-shirt and had black and white sweatpants. What was worse for him?
His head appeared to be missing from his body. Thankfully, it was only a few feet away from him, but the pool of blood was just frightening to look at. They noticed that this victim appeared to have put up a fight. There was blood underneath his fingernails. And his t-shirt looked to be torn from his body.
Both Batman and Robin suspected that, judging from the bruises on the guy's forearms, he must've fought back against these attackers, only for the numbers game to be too much for him. Because, it appeared that he had been held down by some people. Then, as that was happening, the other guy literally chopped his head off with an ax.
What a disgusting sight to see.
"This was done by more than one person." Batman replied instantly.
"I figured that." Gordon replied cynically, taking another puff of smoke.
"By about 4 or 5 people to be exact." Robin chimed in, trying not to look at the guy with the chopped off head. Even though he was a trained assassin, raised by the League of Assassins at that, he still couldn't deny that this scene was disgusting to look at.
Renee pulled out a notepad and read her notes out loud for everyone to hear. "The victims' names are Bob, Sherri and Daniel McNeil. Bob and Sherri have been married for about 14 years now. Daniel is Bob's younger brother. Bob and Sherri both used to work for Ace Chemical's, while Bob was employed as a bouncer at a few nightclubs in Gotham." She said to them.
"Anything else?" Batman asked her.
Renee nodded. "This is where you and Robin come in. Bob and Sherri have a daughter named Sarah. She's about 10 or 11 years old. We searched the perimeter before you two came and couldn't find her anywhere."
"So, the attackers abducted the daughter, huh?" Robin asked.
"What can you tell me about Sarach McNeil?" Batman asked them.
"Not much." Renee said. "All we have is that she goes to Gotham Elementary School."
"Maybe one of her teacher's will have something on her." Gordon said, puffing his smoke again.
Batman nodded at Gordon's comment, showing his agreement with him. He then looked over to where Bob McNeil was. Sitting in an E Z Chair, he appeared to have been shot while he was sitting down. Whoever it was that barged in here took him by surprise. Seems Bob never stood a chance.
Robin walked over to Sherri. She was face down on the carpet. The back of her head caved in, looking like a watermelon was torn apart. He saw that there appeared to be a cooking tray knocked over toward the hallway. He took a smell. Biscuits. Original flavor. Store bought from a canister. So, Sherri was walking into the living room, when her attacker got her from behind. What a cowardice act. If you were going to kill someone, then at least have the decency to do it face to face.
Batman then walked over toward Daniel. Robin walked over toward him, while Batman looked to the left. Only a few feet away was the bathroom. By his estimation, Daniel must've heard the commotion. He ran out to what was happening, saw everything, and proceeded to fight these intruders with all that he had. He tried to fight them all off, but 1 man against 4 or 5 assailants was just too much for Daniel McNeil.
Robin then looked further down the hallway. He walked away from Batman and toward a room with the door open. When he made it, he took in the surroundings. There was a bed with pink sheets and a light blue blanket. There were stuffed animals on her bed, and a framed picture of a little blonde haired girl with Bob and Sherri McNeil on her nightstand with a lampshade broken on the floor next to the bed.
He then looked toward the window. It was open. He deduced that one of two reasons were why it was open. One, the girl left it open. It was a hot night last night in Gotham City. So, she probably wanted a nice breeze coming in. Or two, one of the intruders managed to get the window open, proving how skillful he was at breaking and entering.
Robin took in a smell again. He smelled something awful. Something he recognized.
"Ether." He heard Batman say to him, causing him to turn around and look at him. "The intruder used a chloroform rag to silence Sarah McNeil from alerting her parents and uncle. Must've been sleeping before he drugged her."
"What do they want with the girl though?" Robin asked, thinking intently.
"Good question." Batman said, now leaving the bedroom. Robin followed him, before looking back again. Something really bad happened in this house. And now there was an innocent young girl out there, probably being tortured by these intruders.
Robin knew that he would find this girl. Dead or Alive, he wouldn't stop with this investigation until this girl was found. He turned back and followed his father back to the living room.
Batman explained everything to Gordon and Montoya.
"I'm gonna put an APB out for Sarah McNeil right now." Montoya said, rushing outside to her car. Gordon, Batman and Robin followed.
"I'm gonna get every cop in Gotham to look for this little girl. Any information I find, I'll let you two know." Gordon said, now outside with all the other officers.
"And we'll do everything we can to find these bastards." Robin said.
"You can count on us Jim." Batman said.
"Good." Gordon said, now taking his cigarette out of his mouth, throwing it to the ground and stomping out the ashes.
"Anyway, I also–" He started to say, before realizing that Batman and Robin were now already in the Batmobile, driving off to wherever it is they go after an investigation.
Gordon rolled his eyes. "Every damn time." He said in a sarcastic voice, before walking toward Renee Montoya's car.
-/- The Batmobile -/-
"What do you think?" Damian asked his father, who was in the driver seat.
"Whoever these people were, they must've known who the victims are. This doesn't look like a random break in. They probably have been stalking this family for weeks now. Maybe months." Bruce said.
"These criminals probably wanted the girl the most. There wasn't any stuff taken. Not that I saw at least." Damian said.
"You're right. Sarah McNeil was the target for this break-in. Question is: Why?"
"Hopefully, it's not some sick, twisted pedophile."
Bruce gave Damian that cross look.
"What?" He asked. "Am I wrong?"
"No." Bruce said, now giving a shuttering sigh. "No you're not. But, let's not jump to conclusions just yet. We only just started this investigation."
"I don't know, Father. I have a bad feeling for Sarah McNeil." Damian said, looking kind of worried for the abducted victim.
"I am too, son. I am too." Bruce said, as he continued to drive toward the Batcave.
Both of them were right. Sarah McNeil was targeted. And now her family is gone. When they find her, even if she ends up being fine physically, they both knew she wouldn't be the same again. They knew that they needed to get to work. Hopefully, they were fast enough to find her alive. Hopefully.
Author's Note: Hi everyone. I hope you like this chapter. Now, I'm gonna admit something right now: I don't know too much about the character's of The White Rabbit or Tweedledum and Tweedledee from the Batman comics. I hope I don't piss some people off for how I characterize them. Know that this is just a story I came up with in my head, and I wanted to bring it to life for everyone to read. So, anyway, if you do like this chapter, make sure to comment, like, follow and favorite for a future update. Thank you all and goodnight everybody.
