Disclaimer: don't own Power Rangers
A Father's Truth
Elsa entered the lab her face lit with a huge smile.
"What has you so cheerful?" Mesogog asked.
"I think I found black ranger's true weakness." She said triumphantly as she worked on the computer pulling up a video of Tommy driving his jeep with a small child in the back seat.
"And what might that be?" Mesogog asked
"His seven year old daughter, Peyton Oliver." She replied in wicked glee. "She was with him at the high school today because he hasn't finished registering her at the elementary school."
"Sounds like Dr. Oliver has a massive chink in his armor for us to exploit… bring me the girl."
"Wait… we don't want to blow my cover… if we capture her too quickly it will throw suspicion on me as Randal. He already doesn't like Randal but what can I do you can't win them all."
"True…"
The next day Peyton started at Reefside Elementary school, but found being the new kid a little intimidating.
Tanya Brentwood had been teaching for about 3 years. Her first was a Tanya Sloane the rest as Brentwood.
She was getting ready to take attendance when one of the office aids escorted a new girl into her classroom.
"You must be Peyton Oliver." She smiled welcomingly. She had gotten a memo that morning about a new student and remembered what it was like to be new herself
"Everyone this is our new friend Peyton, let's make her feel welcome." Tanya directed Peyton to an empty desk then went back to business as usual.
As the day progressed Tanya began to feel odd. She had a friend in high school with the last name 'Oliver' and Peyton did look like him but she was certain it was coincidence there was no way he had a daughter Peyton's age.
After school Tommy picked Peyton up and was worried when she wasn't talking.
"Is everything okay?"
"Yes dad, Mrs. Brentwood sent a note home. She wants to have a conference with you because she says you're the only parent she hasn't spoken to yet." Peyton explained.
"That's okay," he replied.
Tommy would set the meeting up for later that week when his free period and her conference period matched up, that Friday.
The time came and Tommy couldn't explain why he was nervous. He had been to several parent teacher conferences, but until this time he was always the teacher. This was his first time as a parent.
He just had to show his Reefside High school badge and he got through security easily. Mrs. Brentwood's room wasn't difficult to find either.
"Mrs. Brentwood…" he said as he entered the room. He saw her but only from the back. She would hear him but not see him.
"Dr. Oliver… please close the door and we can get… started…"
She trailed off as she recognized his voice and turned to see if her suspicions we're right.
Tommy closed the door then turned and realized what Tanya already did.
"Tanya Sloane…" he said in surprise.
"Tommy Oliver… I… I didn't realize that was you…" she said in surprise giving him a hug that he returned.
"Yeah I don't think you ever heard anyone call me by my full name.
"Not that I recall" she said " So is Peyton…"
"Yes Tanya she is my daughter, her mother is Kimberly." He sighed " It's a long story. I'll give you my address and I'll fill you in Saturday… we have a lot to discuss."
"Okay… that sounds good." Tanya replied. They caught up for a few minutes before Tommy went back to work and Tanya went to get her students from PE.
To be continued…
