Chapter Four
Jessica woke before George and quietly slipped from bed and showered. Since they were going out for the day, she decided they could eat breakfast in town. She nudged George awake and kissed his cheek good morning. He sat up and stretched before going into the bathroom. This gave Jessica time to dress in solitude. She chose a pretty sundress, with a matching short sleeved white jacket and sandals. Liberally applying sunscreen, she added it to her purse and made sure her sunglasses were inside. She went into the living room to wait for George.
He joined her within half an hour. He dressed in cargo shorts and a polo shirt with leather sandals on his feet. They looked like tourists. He buttoned his wallet into one of his many pockets. "We will be back late. Do you have everything?"
She assured him she was ready and they slipped out of the RV. George locked the door securely and walked around the RV making sure everything was fine before assisting Jessica into the car and off they went. They kept the conversation light, something they had previously agreed to do when inside the car.
They breakfasted at a diner in town that had the best flapjacks Jessica had eaten in a long time. The coffee was hot, the bacon crisp, and her melon mix of honeydew, cantaloupe, and watermelon was just the right amount of tart and sweet. They strolled around town walking off breakfast before entering a sporting goods shop. George was looking at fishing poles while Jessica was looking at knives. She needed to get gifts for friends back home.
George placed their packages in the trunk of the car and they walked away. They visited the botanical gardens before heading to one of the museums nearby. Jessica was thrilled to get a first hand account of the city of Cheyenne. Downtown Cheyenne was filled with things to do and see. They visited the courthouse and the capitol buildings. They had a light lunch at a burger joint that boasted about their beer offerings so they had to give it a try. Jessica wasn't a beer drinker but George had a pint of something dark that he claimed was very good.
She leaned over and whispered in his ear, "I am so happy it tastes better than dog piss." George nearly choked and Jessica had to pound his back.
They left the restaurant holding hands. They spent the afternoon walking around, enjoying the weather and the sites. Returning to the car, George explained he wanted to go one more place.
"You've been before but I never have and always wanted so I thought you might be able to explain things to me," he suggested. He turned into a large lot and she saw the signs announcing a rodeo.
"Oh George, rodeos are so much fun!"
George parked and they entered the arena and found their seats. "I didn't want to sit in the general seating area. I want to see everything." George explained. The VIP area was shaded so it wasn't as hot as other areas in the arena. They spent a couple of hours watching the bull riding. Jessica explained how rodeos worked to George and he marveled at how dangerous it seemed and how professional the cowboys were. A couple of hours later they left the rodeo in good spirits. Jessica had realized how tense they had become watching their neighbors at the campsite. It felt good to relax and just enjoy the day.
At the car, she paused before getting in and gave him a kiss. "Thank you, George. It's been a wonderful day."
He smiled down at her and gave her a hug. He closed the door once she was inside and walked around to the other side.
"Ready for dinner? There's a steakhouse that looks promising." George started the car.
"Are we dressed appropriately?" asked Jessica.
"It seems more westernly than formal," said George.
Two hours later, they were stuffed. Steak, potatoes, veggies, and dessert settled in their stomachs and refused to budge.
Jessica groaned once they entered the RV and locked the door. "I may never eat again."
"We can't sleep like this," announced George. "Go get dressed for bed and we can stay up for a while. It's only ten o'clock."
Jessica decided to shower before dressing for bed. When she came out George was in his boxers waiting to take a shower. She must be getting used to him, she mused. She didn't even blush upon seeing him. It was too warm to wear a robe so she decided to wear pajamas. She sat in the recliner and turned on the television. She turned off all the lights except the light over the stove so George wouldn't bump into anything.
"The Sound of Music is starting soon," called out Jessica when she heard the water in the shower turn off.
George came out of the bedroom wearing pajama pants. "I've always wanted to see it," he admitted.
"You've never seen it?" exclaimed Jessica. She patted the seat beside her and pulled an afghan out of the ottoman. By the time the movie started, she was snuggled into him and laid her head on his chest. She enjoyed the movie although she had seen it many times before.
"You have a lovely voice," he murmured while kissing her. The movie ended and Jessica was entertaining him with various songs sung during the movie. "Still stuffed?"
"We'll have to get up early and walk," declared Jessica.
George was kissing her neck now and feeling amorous. "I can think of a way to burn off those calories and expend some energy."
"Somehow that doesn't surprise me," remarked Jessica with a smile.
George let out a laugh. "I was thinking of a proper workout of stretches, push ups, and sit ups."
"I have seen you doing those in the morning," admitted Jessica. "But I just showered and I don't want to get sweaty."
George laughed. "Women never want to get sweaty."
Jessica smiled. "Well, not from exercising anyway."
George laughed again. He loved flirting with Jessica, the give and take was so natural with her. "We better watch another movie before I start thinking of other ways to get sweaty." He found a suspenseful thriller on one of the channels. Jessica found herself drifting off and stretched out against George.
"Jessie, love, lying on top of me probably isn't a good idea." He rubbed her back and tried to ease from beneath her but she responded by squirming against him so he stopped. He watched the movie until he could tell she had fallen into a deep sleep. He stretched out, taking her with him, and covered her with the afghan. Hopefully she wouldn't move too much or she'd have a surprise when she woke up. He turned the tv off when the movie ended and fell asleep as well.
Jessica slowly became aware of her surroundings. She felt George beneath her. His body heat was keeping her warm and toasty. His arm was across her back and she admitted to herself that she enjoyed moments like this with George. She missed being physically close with someone, feeling safe in their arms, feeling cherished. She could practically feel his heartbeat since her ear was on his chest. She smiled realizing he still wasn't wearing a shirt. She trailed her hand up his chest and began rubbing it. The sparse hairs felt softer than she imagined. She circled his nipple and began moving her fingers downward.
George awakened when he felt her hand move on his chest. Feeling her exploring caused his mind to become hopeful. He loved holding her in his arms and wished she wouldn't stop. He let his hand drift from her back and he cupped her bottom. She moved her hip against him and he enjoyed the sensation. He turned them so they were on their sides facing each other.
He lifted her chin with his fingers and kissed her. "What a wonderful way to wake up," he breathed.
Jessica savored the feel of him. She knew not to pull a tiger by the tail nor to tease a man too much but she wanted to be close to him, closer than they currently were. She pressed deeper into him. He responded by pressing her even closer, close enough for her to feel how much he wanted her. His hand moved underneath her pajama top and caressed her. She was so warm, so soft. His fingers deftly unbuttoned her top and his mouth replaced his hand. Jessica moaned gently in his ear. George slowly backed off.
"Don't stop," begged Jessica. "Please."
"If I don't…" he shook his head regretfully. "Darling, making love to you would be exquisite. There's nothing I'd love more."
She let her hand drift downward and pressed it against him. "I know you want me."
He kissed her, hard. "Darling, I love you. I don't want to pressure you. I can wait."
"I don't want to wait any longer. I love you, George." She pulled back a little and removed her pajama top. She pressed closer again and George groaned. Believing she knew what she wanted, he made love to her slowly, bringing her to the pinnacle of ecstasy before finding it for himself. Almost as soon as they finished, they began again. This time the coupling was fast and frenzied.
Afterward he wrapped them in the afghan and held her. He drifted back to sleep but Jessica lay there thinking and reliving the past hour. She eventually climbed off the sectional and headed for the shower after stopping to take a couple of pain relievers. Since the water heater was only 10 gallons she turned off the water while soaping up and washing and turned it back on to rinse off. She didn't want George to end up with a cold shower. She wished she had a tub she could soak in. She had aches that made walking difficult.
She dressed in a pair of denim shorts that went to her knees and a tank top with a short sleeve blouse over it. She pulled on a pair of socks and tennis shoes and sat on the bed. Booting up the laptop she checked the activity of their neighbors and not seeing anything suspicious, she sat on the bed and thought about George.
"Jessie?"
Jessica turned to the doorway where George stood. She smiled reassuringly at him. He went over and sat beside her giving her a hug. "Do you want to go for a hike? Or a walk?"
Jessica shook her head no.
"Is something wrong?" A frisson of fear struck him. Did she have regrets?
She blushed and said no.
He stared at her. She took his hand and gave it a squeeze. "Breakfast?"
"What's wrong, Jessie." He had learned so much about her since they began sharing the RV, her nuances were easy to read.
She looked down at her hands. It was silly but somehow she found it difficult to speak about some things.
George sighed. Getting her to talk when she didn't want to talk and given her stubborn nature, things were going to become problematic and he wanted smooth sailing ahead, not bumpy roads.
"Are you disappointed, lass?"
"No, oh definitely not, George." She stood. "Why don't I make breakfast while you get cleaned up?"
He stood as well and stopped her from leaving.
"Let's talk, Jessica."
Oh no, he called her by her full name. "Later, George. I'm famished." She couldn't look him in the eye though.
He moved and let her pass but called after her. "We'll be talking after breakfast."
Jessica moved slowly and was grateful the kitchen was small. She made oatmeal and sliced fruit. She started the coffeemaker for George and filled a kettle to make tea for herself. He had a hearty appetite so she cooked sausage and made toast as well. She brought the meal to the table and waited for him to appear.
She sat and poured a cup of tea for herself. She needed to do some research on how to relieve her aches and pain without the ability to soak in a tub and without taking so many pain relievers. She didn't notice George until he sat down. They ate in silence and when finished she let him clean up while she turned on her computer. She didn't start searching though.
"Come here, Jessie." George was sitting on the sectional.
"I'd rather sit here," she said looking out the window.
George thought she didn't want to sit beside him and it hurt a little but he would sit across from her.
"Just tell me, Jessie. What's wrong?"
Jessica looked at him pleadingly. Doesn't he know there are things you just don't discuss?
"I have to think you didn't enjoy our lovemaking." He began.
"No, George. I did enjoy it." she winced. "I…I…"
George waited.
"Please George…"
George's expression turned sad. She obviously didn't want to hurt his feelings. He loved her deeply and thought expressing it physically would be wonderful for both of them.
"It's embarrassing, George. Please let it be."
He nodded his head. "As you wish, Jessie."
Jessica turned to her computer and when he moved away, she began looking up things.
George went into the bedroom and started watching the neighbors.
Jessica was uncomfortable sitting so long but walking was painful as well. She rose and got some more pain reliever just as George came out of the bedroom.
"Headache?" he asked her.
"George, I haven't had sex since before Frank died," she admitted bluntly.
George nodded his head. He was pretty certain of that fact before she mentioned it.
"I'm sore," she burst out. "There isn't a tub I can soak in." She covered her face with her hands not wanting to see him.
"You poor thing," he said. He reached for her and pulled her into a hug. "I think maybe engaging twice was too much since you haven't had sex in nearly ten years. I should have thought that lubrication might be necessary given our ages and those muscles that aren't used to so much exercise." He squeezed her tighter. "Come in the bedroom with me."
He had her remove her shorts then lie on the bed. "First we're going to stretch a little." He put her through a few stretches. He reached up and slowly removed her underwear. She stared at the ceiling, blushing. He smiled and shook his head at her. She was just one of those people that blushed easily.
He began massaging her, lightly. After a few minutes of exploration and feeling her relax, he began arousing her.
"George!" she exclaimed. She felt an orgasm building and she was certain he was aware because he increased his pressure on her. Minutes later she climaxed. His ministrations continued until she climaxed again. His fingers slowed and her heart rate returned to normal. He went into the bathroom and came back with a warm, wet washcloth and placed it on her. The warmth was soothing and she relaxed. He covered her with the quilt, kissed her, and watched as she drifted off to sleep.
Jessica woke up an hour later. She moved her legs gingerly but she wasn't very sore. A twinge but she could bear it. George was watching the monitor but looked up as she moved.
"How are you feeling?" he asked solicitously. She stood and blushed as she was naked below the waist and George's eyes dropped as well. She flushed knowing he was looking until she found her underwear and shorts and put them on.
"I feel much better, thank you."
"I remembered something my mother told my sister before she married." He pulled her onto his lap. "Lass, there shouldn't be anything we can't discuss."
"I agree, in theory, but some things can be difficult…" she blushed again. "Maybe it's because we married young but I don't remember this problem with Frank and I don't want to know how you know about it."
George looked out the window for a moment. "After my wife died I didn't want to be with anyone. Eventually the urges and desires returned but I wasn't one for casual flings. As a young lad, romps with the girls were normal but once I had an actual deeply intimate relationship with someone, I didn't want a shallow encounter." He gave her a squeeze. "Then I met you and over the years I may have read a few things."
"You read things?" asked Jessica.
"I hadn't dated recently and thought things had changed and I needed to catch up." He kissed the side of her head. "Thankfully we have similar outlooks on life because I wouldn't have been comfortable sleeping with you after knowing you for just a short while. I wanted more with you."
"Thank you," Jessica returned his kiss. "George, I meant to ask you, are those G-men using listening devices? Can they hear us?" It was an abrupt change of subject but she didn't want anyone overhearing them right now.
"I installed a scrambler so they don't get actual conversations, just garbled sounds that can't be unscrambled," remarked George. "I installed it so Jason and the gang couldn't overhear us, not because of our stiff, too-clean-to-be camping friends blocking our view."
"Did they pick up the two men that tried escaping yesterday?"
"They have them under surveillance but won't pick them up yet. The men made contact with Jason and I think we're letting them think they got away," replied George. "Thanks to you, this probably won't last as long as September. I may have some free time before I go home." He hugged her closer. "We're making it harder on ourselves to separate."
"I don't want to think about it," declared Jessica. "It looks like a wonderful day, not too hot. Let's go to the lake."
"Good idea. We have to do more activities." agreed George. "I can't wait to see your swimsuit."
Jessica laughed. "It's a modest one piece with a skirt."
They gathered up everything they would need for a few hours at the small
Lake. She packed two inflatable chairs along with an automatic inflater in her tote bag. George packed a few drinks, some fruit, and grabbed sun hats for them. He loaded everything into the trunk of the car and they drove off.
