Transformers War for Cybertron: An Old War.
Chapter 14: Superion and Brightwing vs. Menasor.
(Metroplex City, Outseek's POV...)
We stood ready in the chamber as Silverbolt, Air Raid, Slingshot, Skydive, Fireflight, Sonicshot, Razorsonic, Shotrazor, Sonicrazor, and Stakecap emerged from the Combiner Maker machines.
Optimus then asks, "Silverbolt, how do you and the others feel?"
Silverbolt and the other Aerialbots replied that aside from feeling their combiner cores, they don't feel any additional changes that would be worrisome.
Optimus then says, "Then let's get started. Aerialbots, combine into Superion and Brightwing."
Skydive and Air Raid transformed into Superion's legs while Silverbolt formed the torso unit and Fireflight and Slingshot formed the arms.
The other 5 Aerialbots formed Brightwing in the same combination arrangement as Superion.
Superion remarks, "Superion online."
Brightwing states as well, "Brightwing online."
Optimus remarks, "Now, this is something that I wouldn't ordinarily say since it isn't part of my programming, but this is truly awesome to see."
I replied, "Yes, and I'm gonna pretend I didn't hear it."
Optimus made a face that made me realize he agreed.
Superion and Brightwing decombined and the Aerialbots left for their quarters to recharge.
The next solar cycle, we received word that the Stunticons were leading a Decepticon attack on one of our minor Autobot territories.
We led the Wreckers and Aerialbots to intercept them.
At the battle, Silverbolt and Motormaster were going hard in this fight, partially because Silverbolt has a sword and also because of the fact that Silverbolt is a Flier and Motormaster is a Grounder.
Eventually, Motormaster calls out, "Stunticons, combine into Menasor!"
The Stunticons combined into Menasor.
Silverbolt then calls out, "Aerialbots, combine into Superion and Brightwing!"
The Aerialbot groups combined into Superion and Brightwing.
Menasor roars, charging right towards our two new combiners.
Silverbolt brings out a shield and deflects Menasor's sword once he tried to take a swing.
Menasor gawks, and that leaves him vulnerable to a powerful sniper shot in the gearbox and a slash in his chestplate, where his Decepticon symbol is.
Menasor and Superion clashed swords, and this is what confused me.
Tailpunch says that Superion's counterparts from across the multiverse that Vector Prime protects from Unicron didn't have any swords whatsoever.
But anyway, Superion and Menasor went all out with their blades.
Brightwing was added to the mix and it was no more than a no-brainer rather than a toss up of who would win. It was obvious that Superion and Brightwing would win.
But before that could happen, another Decepticon combiner eerily similar to Bruticus but with his hands and feet looking like they were made out of some kinds of Energon weapons came up and started shooting at Superion and Brightwing as Menasor was recovering.
Tailpunch had notified me that this was an entirely different Bruticus called Bruticus Maximus, formed by a Destruction Team formed by Barblock, Tripfuse, Boundcoil, Cursemold, and Stormwarning.
The Soldierbots combined into Legionnaire, and the superior numbers that formed our first combiner allowed them to overpower Bruticus Maximus.
Menasor roars as he decombines and Motormaster orders, "Decepticons, retreat! This battle is lost and these Autobots are too hero-programmed to know when to quit!"
The Decepticons retreated and we celebrated before returning to base while making sure that lots of additional fortresses and soldiers and so forth were left to guard our now heavy security territory.
When we reported to Optimus and Ultra Magnus, we were given orders to make sure that Jetfire and Starscream among other Aerialbot scientists started producing enough Synthetic Energon to accelerate the war effort in secret, then download the formula into a Cybertronian data cylinder, and then launch it into space.
We complied, and we got a lot of Energon to not only fuel ourselves more than sufficiently, but also to power our equipment, nurture any sparklings we rescued alongside their parents, and to create new inventions to use against the Decepticons without letting them see or hear about anything that they could potentially use to countermand our advantages.
So far, things are looking good. But I have a feeling that this kind of good feeling won't last forever.
We need to finish building the Ark, and we need to finish building it quickly.
The End.
(Author's notes: In the next chapter after chapter 15, the start of the final days of the Great War will commence, starting with Megatron raiding Trypticon Orbital Station to acquire the artificial Dark Energon.
See you all in chapter 15: Tailpunch's Contingency Plans.)
