Amaria kept quiet. She was still processing the news from last night. She knew she wouldn't be talking to Amber about this. Even though, for years, they had waited together for the bus. Amber didn't think much of Amaria's silence until they reached the school.
"Amaria, is everything alright?",asked Amber.
She followed Amaria to her locker and stood waiting while Amaria opened her locker to organize her stuff.
"Yeah, Sai has been diagnosed with autism." ,shared Amaria finally.
"Really?",said Amber.
"Yeah. Things are going to be different in my house. I always knew something was up with Sai. It is not surprising to me.",continued Amaria.
"Yeah, you have a point.",agreed Amber.
Amaria continued organizing her locker. She accidentally dropped one of her binders onto the floor. Mac appeared and picked it up! The two of them locked eyes for a second.
"Here's your binder.",he said.
He handed the binder to Amaria.
"Thanks.",she said.
She watchesd Mac leave and waved "bye" to him. Amber was curious.
"Well, that was unexpected.",she said.
Amaria turned around .
"What?",she asked.
"You being friendly to Mac. That was new.",said Amber.
Amaria grew silent. She was unsure whether or not to tell Amber what really happened yesterday.
"Guys!",shouted Chloe from a distance.
She ran up to them with the speed of lightening. Amaria and Amber's ears perked up once they heard Chloe shouting.
"What?", the both of them asked.
.Chloe reached them with a serious look on her face.
"Our gym couch, Couch Nelson,is having an affair.",revealed Chloe triumphantly.
"What.. with who!?",shouted Amaria.
"I don't know?!? It's a rumor I've been hearing around this school ! Amaria, you know how big it is!., shrugged Chloe.
Sabrina arrived in the small circle next.
"Ew. Couch Nelson isn't he like 50?",asked Sabrina.
"I know! Right? That's the whole crazy part.",laughed Chloe.
"Remember when he made us do sit ups without even teaching us how to do one?",reminded Amber.
"Yeah, that was in 9th grade.",said Amaria, "Well Chloe, that is crazy! Especially if you don't know if someone is making it up.."
"Well, if you say so,Amaria.",mumbled Chloe.
Philip arrived and put an arm around Amaria.
"Hey class is starting soon, let's go.",said Philip to Amaria.
"Okay Philip.",said Amaria with a smile.
As the bell rangs the time, Amaria and her friends left for their first period of class.
