Silverpaw was in a meadow clearing, it was so bright, it almost blinded her. All she could make out were two cats looking onto a lake. They turned around and looked at her. They blinked and then faded away, turning into the blinding light. She heard one of them say, "Silverpa-" and was cut off as the cat faded into nothing.

She suddenly woke up, she was in her nest in the apprentice's den. This den is giving me weird dreams, she thought. By the sound of her clanmates talking outside, she could tell it was time to wake up. Silverpaw prodded Twigpaw and Fawnpaw awake, "Come on, its time to wake up, it's our first day as apprentices today!" Silverpaw meowed. Thornleaf suddenly came in to the apprentice's den. Silverpaw fur stuck out in surprise, she didn't expect her to come in right as she woke up! Twigpaw and Fawnpaw didn't seem as surprised though, they probably weren't fully awake. "Come out, we're going to give you a tour of the territory," Thornleaf meowed. Fawnpaw suddenly didn't look sleepy anymore, as she meowed "REALLY?!" Thornleaf's only response was gesturing them out of the den.

As Silverpaw walked out of the den, she saw Dewclaw and Ivyheart talking at the camp entrance. Ivyheart looked at them, "you're here! Finally!" she started walking towards them, "Now that you are awake," she glanced at Twigpaw, "most of you are awake" she corrected, "we can go out of camp now."

Dewclaw walked towards the entrance. "I need you to listen carefully, I need to tell you the rules of being outside camp, these could save your life." He looked at the apprentices sternly, "Don't go near any mud. It could be the dark mud, it will sink you in and it's really hard to get you out. The second rule is to not wander into the mist, or go out when there's fog. When there's fog, the shadows start hunting. Try to get back as quickly as possible when you see any sign of fog they aren't dumb enough to walk into our camp, so you'll be safe here. The ;ast rule is the most important, never go alone." He concluded.

Silverpaw had heard of the shadow monsters, they gave Oaktail that big scar across his pelt. She shivered, if they were strong enough to give the deputy a scar, then they must be scary.

"Now we have that over with, let's go" Thornleaf meowed

The cats started to walk outside of camp. They started walking towards a wall of mist. "This is the mist you should never walk into. Cats who try, don't come back." Thornleaf mewed.

Silverpaw saw Ivyheart look away sadly, she remembered Ivyheart's mother and a few others wander into the mist to try to find a way out, and no cat had ever seen them again. She barely remembered the queen who had helped take care of Silverpaw when she was younger.

They started to walk to a giant tree that seemed to be in the middle of the territory. Dewclaw then explained that this was where they did most of their battle training. They then walked toward a big, flat, grey path, "this is the abandoned thunderpath. The elders said that when the sky was blue, creatures called twolegs and monsters roamed this path." Ivyheart explained. The sky was blue?! Silverpaw thought, weird.

"What's that weird smell? Is it the old smell of the twolegs and monsters?" Twigpaw asked, Fawnpaw nodding beside him. Dewclaw stepped up, "It's the smell of Thunderclan, they're the clan that's most like us, but they don't jump high or climb trees as much as we do." he meowed.

They started exploring the other parts of the territory, though Silverpaw couldn't clearly remember all of it. By the time she got back into her den, she was practically asleep on her paws! She slowly walked toward her nest and when she touched it, she immediately fell asleep.
