Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter.

Let's get to it.

MR11: Answer to both of your questions is maybe.

Chapter 54- Come to Mortis

(February 13, 2051)

In the cockpit of the Falcon, Ben carefully monitors his instruments while Rey continues her meditating in the co-pilot's seat. Right now, he's just waiting for Rey to give the signal for him to bring the ship out of hyperspace.

After Rey's experience hearing the voice of Qui Gon Jinn, Ben and Rey had made ready to leave Dromund Kaas. After first meditating for some time, they had taken off and made their way up into orbit over the planet. There, they had meditated again before Rey said she had begun to feel something through the Force. After getting a general direction, she gave Ben bearings to program into the navicomputer. And, at last, they had set off for Mortis.

The journey had been difficult. For hours, Rey had remained in an almost constant state of meditation while Ben monitored the navigation systems. Rey constantly gave Ben course corrections to make, guiding them around obstacles in their path while heading towards what Ben hoped was the location of Mortis. Their course had taken them to a far region of the Outer Rim and into Wild Space. Ben is hoping that they'll reach the spot soon, but so far, Rey has not told him anything.

However, his faith is soon rewarded. Rey suddenly speaks as she says, "Alright, Ben. Hold this course for the next 10 or so seconds, then come out of hyperspace on my signal." Ben reaches forward and places his hands on the hyperspace throttles, ready to pull them back to idle at Rey's word.

Rey keeps her eyes closed for a few seconds longer before she finally opens them and says, "Come out of hyperspace in three, two, one, now!"

Ben yanks back on the hyperspace throttles, and with the usual decelerating sound, the Falcon comes out of hyperspace. As the ship settles into cruising flight, Ben and Rey scan the view out of the viewport. At first, they can see nothing but empty space and stars glittering in the distance.

"Are you sure this is where we were supposed to stop?" Ben asks Rey.

"I'm fairly sure," Rey says. She had come far in her ability to touch the Force in the year and a half since she had begun training with Luke, but she still had her insecurities and was not always sure of herself. She's hoping that she didn't just lead them to a random spot in space.

Suddenly, without warning, a small whine is heard in the cockpit as all systems shut down at once. Ben and Rey are stunned into silence before they start checking over the controls. "I've got nothing. Everything's down, even life support," Ben mutters.

However, almost as soon as he's finished saying that, everything powers back up. Ben and Rey look at each other in extreme confusion, wondering what just happened. "Well, that happened," Ben mutters.

Rey glances out the window, then freezes before she slowly points and says, "Umm, that wasn't there before, was it?"

Ben looks out of the viewport, and up ahead, right where he knew he looked a minute ago, is a massive octahedral monolith that looks like two massive pyramids stuck together bottom to bottom. The monolith is massive, miles in size. It is also colored an extremely dark red, so dark it's almost black, with more pronounced red edges.

Ben pears closer at it. "What is that? I've never seen something like that before," he mutters.

Right then, they feel something. Like a powerful tractor beam has seized hold of their ship. Ben tries manuevering the ship, but the controls are no longer responding. He looks at Rey and mutters, "Well, I guess we're going for a ride."

The Falcon moves slowly towards the monolith. As it approaches, an opening begins to open in the monolith, and opening that shines with blinding white light. And the ship moves straight towards the opening. As they enter the monolith, the light is overwhelming, yet somehow both of them are able to keep their eyes open. However, as the light grows brighter, a feeling of drowsiness comes over them. As the light finally grows bright enough that they cannot see anything else, drowsiness overcomes them, and they find themselves unable to remain conscious, and they finally pass out.

(Unknown time later)

Ben slowly begins to stir as he feels consciousness returning to him. Slowly, he opens his eyes. At first, he can't see anything through light, but his vision slowly clears. Glancing out of the viewport, he can see outside the viewport. It looks like he is resting in some kind of clearing, filled with vegetation he doesn't recognize.

Ben groans and rubs his head a bit as he feels his senses returning. A moment later, he hears a groan and looks to the co-pilot's seat, where Rey is just beginning to wake. Rey slowly opens her eyes and regains her senses before she turns to look at Ben. "Ugh. Where are we?" she asks.

Ben looks out of the viewport. "I'm not certain…but I'm guessing this is Mortis," he says.

Rey also looks out of the viewport, examining the sight visible to them. After a moment she says, "Well, perhaps we should go outside and explore a bit. See if this place is indeed Mortis."

"Agreed. But be wary. We don't know what this place is like," Ben says.

The two slowly stand up from their seats and head back towards the boarding ramp. They find R2 waiting for them next to the ramp. "Stay with the ship, R2. But be careful. We don't know what this place is like," Ben says. R2 trills a bit in response.

Ben flips the switch to lower the boarding ramp. As it touches the ground outside, Ben and Rey slowly make their way down the ramp.

As they leave the ship, they look carefully around the clearing. They can see a few pathways out of the clearing leading along a cliff, as well as a cave a few meters away from the ship.

The two are quiet for a few moments before Rey mutters, "So, is this Mortis?"

"It is indeed."

The two quickly turn to their right, and sure enough, standing a few yards from them is the Force spirit of Qui Gon Jinn. He is wearing the same clothing he was wearing when he was killed, standing with his arms held behind his back, smiling slightly at the two young Jedi.

Ben is the first to move, bowing slightly in respect to the old Jedi Master. Rey follows his example, bowing slightly. "Master Qui Gon," Ben addresses the ghost.

"It took you long enough to come here," Qui Gon says in amusement.

"Master, why are we here? How can we see you?" Ben asks.

"I am a part of the Living Force. My training was less complete when I died, so I cannot usually project my image to those I wish to speak to, only my voice. But in this place, the Force is strong enough that I can project my likeness to you," Qui Gon replies.

"What is this place?" Rey asks.

"It is a conduit. A place through which the Force of the entire universe flows. A place beyond time and space," Qui Gon replies. Both of them can sense the truth in this. Neither of them have ever felt the Force so incredibly strongly.

Qui Gon is quiet before he speaks again, "You are here to learn what happened here many years ago, when your grandfather, Ben, came here with his master and apprentice. You are here to learn from that experience. And you are here to learn the secrets of the Force, and to discover the true extent of your powers in the Force."

Qui Gon pauses for a moment before he says, "I will be your guide for now. Come. Follow me."

Qui Gon's spirit turns and begins to walk away. Ben and Rey are quiet for a moment, looking at each other, before they both begin to follow Qui Gon.

Qui Gon leads the pair out of the clearing and onto a pathway along the edge of a cliff. Ben and Rey carefully watch their step as they move along the pathway.

"Can you tell us anymore about this place, Master Qui Gon?" Ben asks.

"This planet has existed since the beginning of time. It is not the birthplace of the Force, but it is the place through which the Force flows through the universe, where all the Force is concentrated. It is here that the Force is in its purest form and strength," Qui Gon says.

He pauses, then speaks again, "Many millenia ago, three beings discovered this place. Ancient beings known only as the Ones, some of the most powerful Force wielders to have ever existed. The Father, the Daughter, and the Son. The Son embodied the dark side, and the Daughter, the light, while the Father kept balance between the two. The power of the siblings grew great beyond measure, and so too did their conflict. In order to keep the galaxy safe, the Father brought his children here in order to keep balance between them, and keep the universe in balance. Here, he could control them, and the children could not tear about the fabric of the universe with their squabbling."

"What happened then?" Ben asks.

"That is something I will leave to someone more acquainted with the situation," Qui Gon says.

"What do you mean?" Ben asks.

"You will see," Qui Gon responds simply. Ben waits for something more, but Qui Gon says nothing more.

As they come over a ridge, Ben and Rey catch sight of something up ahead. A distant ruined monastery.

"That is your destination," Qui Gon informs the pair. He then turns to them and says, "There, you will learn the story of this place, and begin your training here." He pauses, then says, "I would advise you get there before dark. Night on this planet can be dangerous." It is then that his spirit fades away.

"Master Qui Gon!" Rey cries out, but it's too late. Qui Gon has vanished.

Ben and Rey turn their attention to the distant monastery. "Well. I suppose we better get moving if we want to get there before nightfall," Ben says. Rey nods in response, and together, they set off towards the monastery.

And, I'll end there. Hope you liked this one.

Next chapter will mostly be about them learning exactly what happened with the Ones. It should be up soon. Until it is, please leave a review, and stay tuned!
