February 2nd/Age 749

Waking up with a yawn and a stretch is a young woman named Mina Cam. Mina has fair skin with shoulder length brown hair and green eyes. Mina has an athletic frame due to her time as a baseball player and is currently dressed in a grey tank top and boxer shorts.

Most people think about Mina and consider her a tomboy; Mina took it in stride and took pride in it, not because she enjoyed the taunts, but because she was different from most girls who gossiped about celebrities and make up. Mina enjoyed sports honestly and she enjoyed a few nerdy things just as much.

Her room is decorated with posters from videogames and comics and what not. However, a little over a week ago, Mina had encountered a strange change to her life and her destiny, and that change appeared in front of her face.

You have fully recovered 100% of your HP, MP and Ki!

"Thanks game AI." Mina said back to the green floating text box. Mina knew about the game system because she spent enough time with it to figure it out, and her knowledge of videogames and their systems helped as well.

It was early in the morning and Mina saw that her mother and father had left for work, which gave her freedom for the time being. In a movie she would have random friends over to throw a party or something, but instead, Mina went into the kitchen and made some toast with jam and got a glass of orange juice before sitting down in the living room as she cut on the tv.

"Time to get to work." Mina said to herself before she finished her toast and juice before taking some space in the living room before she started her morning exercises. Pushups, sit-ups, squats, V-ups and the list went on for the next hour and a half before Mina worked up a good sweat and felt a bit winded.

You have gained the exhausted Debuff!

Mina simply stretched a bit and popped a few knuckles and bones in her body before sitting back down on the couch.

"This debuff slows my Ki regen, which basically means I'm bone dry on stamina for a while." Mina said to herself with heavy breaths. This power of hers was bizarre and something straight out of one of her comics.

During the first day she already gained a series of skills, granted they weren't terribly good skills, but they were actual game-like skills. She also noticed that she had perks, which she pulled up and looked at.

[Name: Batter Up

Rank: 2

You are a heavy hitter or at least you're trying to become one and as a result, any two-handed weapon you use will deal 50% more damage to opponents.

Stacks with STR stat.]

[Name: Athletic

Rank: 2

You have trained yourself to become an athlete and now you're comparable to them. Your STR, VIT, CON and DEX gain a permanent 50% increase.]

[Name: Toughness

Rank: 1

You have been hit and abused quite a bit and now developed a resistance to all incoming damage. You now permanently gain 13 DT]

"These three skills are what I got from my time on the baseball team. Batting practice, exercise and conditioning, getting hit with stray balls every now and then." Mina said with herself with a sigh before she flexed her fingers and moved the screen away.

"My life actually became a videogame. It's nuts." Mina said with a small chuckle before she leaned her head back over the edge of the couch. "If I was a videogame or comic book hero; I would run off and achieve my destiny in the wide-open world, but things don't really work like that." Mina said to herself before she got up from the couch and went back into the kitchen for more food.

Later in the day, Mina got dressed in a green T-shirt and jeans with sneakers before she made her way outside of her home and walked towards the nearby park.

When she made it to the park, Mina saw an interesting sight, the sight was several teens in martial arts uniforms training and sparring with each other.

"Wow." Mina said in response; Mina knew about martial arts and thought they were awesome, but in truth she knew little about any martial arts at all. So, Mina simply sat down at a nearby park bench and watched the fighters as they sparred, however they also seemed to be celebrating and having a picnic area and some games like horseshoes and stuff.

"Enjoying the view?" A man asked Mina, making her turn to the side and see the man standing near the bench.

Benji Leez, Level: 22

Mantis Martial Art Teacher

Benji looked to be at least middle aged with dark skin and hair cut low to his head and is dressed in a white long sleeved gi and trousers with a black belt around his waist, with gold kanji written on the belt.

The kanji said Mantis as well as master.

"I am. Martial arts is cool and its good exercise. I'd love to learn it eventually." Mina said honestly as Benji chuckled.

"Well, we are always looking for new students. The Mantis dojo prides itself on being a supportive and empowering environment, where students can learn and train without judgement or ridicule." Benji said before he reached into his gi and took out a pamphlet. "Think about it."

Mina took the pamphlet and looked it over as the guy walked away. She thought about the choice in front of her for a moment before a strange and terrifying quest appeared in front of her.

[Quest Alert!

Other objectives will appear later down the road.

Rewards: 100,000,000 EXP

Failure: Physical, mental and spiritual annihilation, the annihilation of your universe.

Do you accept this quest? Y/N?]

Mina's eyes widened in shock and awe at what she saw and suddenly she felt her breath catch in her throat and a weight in her stomach.

"Ok maybe this superpower isn't all fun and games." Mina said to herself before she raised her finger and hit the yes button. She couldn't say no to a quest like that, and she didn't think her weird powers would lie about something this important. Besides, she couldn't just sit back and let the universe be destroyed.

The problem was that she didn't know if she could even do anything about this on her own. Also, she needed to learn more about Ki, because she assumed that it was another word for her stamina, but apparently it was something different. Learning magic might be easier to understand since she knew what her MP bar was. She didn't know magic but with all sorts of books in stores and libraries, she had a feeling that she could at least learn one spell or two.

"Looks like becoming a baseball star might have to be put on the back burner for a bit." Mina said to herself before she felt a wave of calmness wash over her mind and body.

The skill [Gamers Mind] has been activated!

"This skill again." Mina said in a mix of gratefulness and mild annoyance. The skill kept her calm, but the problem was that it impeded any strong emotions.

Being overly happy, sad, angry, stressed or anything would be suppressed in order to grant Mina a calm state of mind.

"I guess I can talk to my mom and dad and tell them that I want to take an interest in martial arts. The problem is that I can't outright tell them why. So, I guess I'll just say that my interest in sports has changed a bit." Mina said to herself before she jogged home.

Mina's mind was calm but just because it was calm doesn't mean that her thoughts weren't in a jumble. So, Mina decided to blow off some steam and have a jog. Exercise is a good stress reliever after all.

When Mina went home, she spoke to her parents, who just arrived at their home, her parents are Saul and Hinata. Both fair skinned and average adults across the board. Saul has brown hair and Hinata has black hair. Both work in business and are loving parents to their daughter. That didn't mean that Mina's conversation topic didn't catch them by surprise.

"You want to quit baseball? Why? Did something happen?" Saul asked after putting his newspaper down, as he sat in his favorite chair in the living room.

"No dad. I just thought that I could pick it back up in college and I really want to learn martial arts. It's good exercise and can teach me to handle myself if something bad happens." Mina replied before Saul and Hinata glanced over at each other for a moment.

"Well…If that's what you want Mina, but you have to take it seriously and keep up your grades in school." Hinata said back in a caring yet stern voice.

"I will mom." Mina replied with a head nod as Hinata looked over the pamphlet that Mina gave her, before she handed it over to Saul.

"Mantis martial arts huh?" Saul asked his daughter.

"Yup. I saw a demonstration today and it really inspired me."

"Whatever you say dear. But I agree with your mother. If your grades slip up, you can kiss martial arts goodbye." Saul said back, trying to be stern as well, but Saul wasn't the stern parent. He was the parent that loved spoiling Mina when she was a baby.

"I promise my grades will be good. I won't slip up or anything." Mina promised her parents before she went into her room and laid down onto her bed with a sigh. "That went over pretty well."

April 14th/Age 749

It has been a little more than two months since Mina started learning martial arts. She was a proud student of the mantis style and learned how to defend herself as well as meditate and focus more intently.

Through her training period, Mina didn't slack in her studies which granted her a few more points in her INT and WIS stats; she also spent time in the local library and read a few books about magic and learned two things. She learned how to manipulate mana a bit and she learned that she can't automatically absorb knowledge through books like in a regular game.

So, by learning how to harness her inner energies, Mina learned two basic, but decent skills for herself.

[Mana Ward, Active Level: 2

You can generate a protective ward around yourself to protect yourself from damage.

Cost: 20 MP with a 10 MP upkeep cost per minute.]

[Power Strike, Active Level: 2

You have learned to infuse your strikes with Ki energy to enhance your attack damage. This technique can be used in any form of attacking strike, including weapons you use.

Cost: 30 Ki]

Those two skills plus her Ki Manipulation and Mana Manipulation had proved to Mina that her training was paying off, but she knew that she was still not anywhere near strong enough to accomplish her mission. And she still needs to learn from a legendary hermit.

Mina thought she came close to learning from a hermit once, but the guy was a jerk, or more specifically a dojo destroyer. He was the teacher at the crane school, with three students and they basically beat up the students before leaving. Mina suppressed a scowl when she thought of the cocky three eyed teen who beat her up.

That Tien guy was crazy strong and hardly even broke a sweat when Mina fought him. After he had finished fighting the other ten students in a row.

Right now, Mina is meditating in the backyard lawn of her home and focused inward on her Ki and Mana energies. She heard the noise of the world around her and simply breathed in and out through breathing exercises that she learned from the internet.

Breathing a certain way helped her focus on manipulating her energies as well as focusing her mind. Also, meditation did more than help her skills, it helped her mind calm down without the need of Gamers Mind to activate. Her thoughts from school and her weird powers seemed to lessen when she meditated and focused on letting go of such thoughts.

She was going with the flow instead of trying to fight the current like most teenagers.

"All of this feels unreal." Mina said as she opened her eyes and looked herself over, as she was dressed in her white martial arts gi and trousers, with her yellow belt around her waist. Her belt also had two stripes on it already. Her teacher Benji told her that he hasn't seen any other teen learn as fast as she did.

Her Mantis Style Martial Arts skill was to thank for that. It also showed her that different types of martial arts might be separate skills since her martial art skill was specific to the mantis style itself instead of being a general skill on its own.

"My body and mind are crazy sharp, but at the same time I know I'm not too strong. If anything, I'd say that I could be compared to a college athlete at this point. Also, the fact that I can perform magic and use Ki makes me different. Ki is inner energy and mana is magical energy. They are two different things, but both are spiritual in nature." Mina said to herself; thinking about the studies she focused on during her training.

"I feel like I've hardly tapped into my potential and my powers basically act like a shortcut, so I can get stronger. The million Zeni question is just how powerful can I become. I've already levelled up twice and got stat and perk points saved up. The issue is figuring out what I should spend them on." Mina said before taking another breath and calmed her mind before she started overthinking.

"Mina, can you come here for a moment?" Hinata asked from the back door of the home.

"What's up mom?" Mina asked as she stood up and dusted herself off, before entering the house and saw her father Saul and her teacher Benji in the living room. "What are you doing her master Benji?"

"You can just call me Benji. I came here to tell you that your time in my dojo is over." Benji said bluntly, shocking the family.

"Did Mina do something wrong?" Saul asked in concern as Benji shook his head.

"Nothing of the sort. It's just that your daughter has learned everything so fast that I have nothing left to teach her. She's outpaced my other students and I've been teaching them advanced lessons just to keep Mina herself on her toes and it's been a bit of a struggle for the rest of them." Benji explained calmly. "There isn't any bad blood between the students either. Mina is a welcomed sight in the dojo, but again she is simply advancing beyond my teaching ability."

"Correct me if I'm wrong. But aren't martial arts supposed to be a lifelong dedication or something?" Hinata asked with clear confusion.

"To most people it is, but to prodigies like your daughter, it can be a bit different. Which is why I believe she should go out and learn under other masters." Benji said bluntly.

"Can you elaborate a bit?" Saul asked.

"Certainly. I believe that your daughter is talented in martial arts. Similar to many great fighters throughout history and I believe that she could travel the earth on a pilgrimage to learning and mastering the art of combat."

"Absolutely not. I'm not sending my child into the cold and cruel world alone." Hinata quickly said in a bit of anger before Mina spoke up.

"Mom…Master…I mean Benji is right. I need to learn more martial arts." Mina said back to her mother.

"No way! You're a teenager with no survival skills and what if the worst happens? There won't be anyone to help you at all!" Hinata shouted before Benji spoke up.

"I believe I offended you all. I'll see myself out and please forgive me for the trouble." Benji said before he left.

"Mom and dad. There is something seriously important that I have to do, and I can't do it, without getting more training." Mina said in an almost whispering tone.

"Mina listen to your mother. You aren't-" Saul was cutoff mid-sentence when Mina activated her mana ward spell and generated a mana ward around herself in the form of a perfect circle that was a light bluish white color.

"Mom and dad. I know this is a lot but please let me explain everything to you and you'll understand why I need to train like Benji said." Mina said before deactivating her shield and told her parents everything.

She talked about her powers, her mana and Ki, her quest to save the universe and everything in between. Needless to say, Saul and Hinata were in a state of shock and disbelief, but after seeing Mina create a magical shield, they knew she was being honest with them both.

"You…Have the power of a videogame hero? And you had this power for months?" Hinata asked as she took a seat in one of the chairs in the living room.

"Yes." Mina said back as Saul and Hinata were at a loss for words.

"You need to train under different masters and find someone named Muten Roshi and learn from him?" Saul asked.

"Yes. But if I learn from other masters along the way, that will make things easier for me and it will give me more experience in the long term." Mina said to her parents.

"It sounds like you put a lot of thought into this." Hinata said to her daughter who nodded her head.

"I've had a lot of time to think about how I should tell the both of you, but when Benji spoke up about me training across the world…I guess things didn't turn out like I thought they would."

"Even if we let you go, you can't just quit school." Saul said back.

"I thought about that too and I figured out that I can take the school graduation exams early under certain conditions and if I pass, then I'm not obligated to go to school anymore."

"Mina…You're asking too much from us. It's not fair." Hinata said back with tears in her eyes, which made Mina feel like a knife was twisting in her gut.

"I know…I'm sorry." Mina said back as the room was silent for a moment as Mina walked over and gave her mother a big hug. "Please don't cry mom."

"Mina…give us time. You can't expect us to rush into this kind of decision. Even with your powers, your still our child and you can't just expect us to give you an answer to something like this right away." Saul said before he got up and gave his daughter and wife a hug as well.

May 1st/Age 749

It was the first of May when Mina's parents finally decided on what Mina could do. They gave her a task. She has to pass several online high school tests along with her school's graduation exams and take several classes on survival training for the wilderness, study various plants and fauna, take CPR classes and other such things.

Mina didn't object and took all the classes and studies she needed to. She didn't complain about the stress because she didn't want to worry her parents and after a nap or sleep, she was able to rest her mind a bit. Mina not only had to prove to her parents that she would be okay, but she had to prove to herself that she was ready for such a journey as this.

If she even had a chance at helping to save the universe, she needed to gain more power and train herself physically and mentally. Mina had doubts about if she was ready, but she wasn't about to fail a quest with all of reality on the line. Not if she could help it.

A/N: Okay I've been gone for a while, and I came back to make another DBZ story. Why? Because I enjoy the challenge and I'm not ready to give up yet. Besides, I've got to make a story with SS4 that isn't cringy and yes ladies and gents. SS4 is taking the place of Super Saiyan God.

Dragon Ball is based on Journey to the West and that story is effing crazy. But a consistent thing in it is transformations and insane powers. SS4 is insane and based in terms of power and abilities and personally I like GT more than Super.

Not because of the style but because of how Super handles things. It could have been better, but I don't want to ramble.

Anyway, please fav, follow and review.
