New American Werewolf in U.A.

Chapter 1: A Wedding Gift

So much had happened since Marie had first entered U.A. The incredible battles she had fought alongside the rest of the students of Japan's prestigious UA Academy were even now the stuff of legend among civilians. The battles they fought against the Paranormal Liberation Front, Shigaraki Tomura, All For One, and many lesser villains since then were nothing short of unforgettable. And yet, together, the new generation of Heroes had finally triumphed, and enjoyed a hard-won Peace in Japan. It made all of them realize how precious seemingly mundane things truly were, and all of the Heroes of Classes A and B enjoyed their lives to their fullest when they could. And today they would enjoy another mundane and precious thing, the marriage of their two former classmates, Kaminari Denki and Marie Freeman.

Marie had butterflies in her stomach as she rode in the limousine with her mother, Kayama Nemuri, younger half-brother Joey, aka Joseph Freeman Jr., and his best friend Aizawa Eri. She and Denki had been boyfriend and girlfriend in U.A., miraculously they had defied the odds and kept their relationship after high school and were shortly going to be married. "I still can't believe this is happening," the blind twenty-three-year-old Marie said. Nemuri, aka the retired Eighteen Plus Only Heroine Midnight laughed and said, "Believe it, dear, you earned this." Nemuri had nearly been killed fighting the Paranormal Liberation Front, she was knocked out by a projectile while trying to knock out Gigantomachia with her Quirk. She survived the fall, barely, but it left her back broken and brain partially damaged so she could no longer work as a Pro-Hero. She would have died that day if Marie hadn't protected her from other Villains and carried her to safety.

"Just relax," the retired Heroine told her daughter, "It'll be over before you know it, and then the real fun starts." Marie nodded and thought about hers and Denki's plans; after they were married, they would take an entire week touring various sites in Japan, and then they would leave the country and take a plane to America to start new careers there. Even with All For One and Shigaraki Tomura defeated, crime in America was still a problem, they needed all the Heroes they could get to maintain order and keep the peace there. They had decided on a traditional Japanese style wedding, and the ceremony they would have a reception at The Super Cave, one of the best clubs in Japan.

"Still though, I'm still nervous, are you sure I look alright?" Marie couldn't get the butterflies out of her stomach. "You're fine, Sis," Joey assured her. He had grown up in the last seven years, he was now six feet tall and was almost the spitting image of their Father, the late Hero Wolfheart aka Joseph Freeman Sr., the only real physical difference was that Joey had inherited his Mother Mysa's pure white hair and he was thinner than Joseph's 250 muscular pounds, Joey was roughly 190 pounds, but very athletically built. Throughout this talk, the last person in the limousine, Eri, was quiet. Eri had also grown up, many students in her middle school had confessed their love to her, but Eri wasn't interested in such serious things; she had been focused on learning how to become a Hero, like her adopted Father, Aizawa Shoto, and all the students who were as good as family for her.

"What's wrong, Eri?" Nemuri asked, "You've been awfully quiet the whole ride." Eri looked at Nemuri, the woman had been like a favorite aunt for her ever since she came to U.A., the closest thing to a mother figure she had had. Ever since the woman had been injured, Eri had wanted to heal her, but she hadn't mastered her dangerous Rewind Quirk. Eri had a serious look in her eyes and said, "Kayama-sensei, I want to do something for you and Marie-nee-chan." This got everyone's attention, Eri was never this formal with Nemuri. "What is it?" Marie asked her. Eri took a breath and said, "I'm ready to heal you both now. I've mastered my Quirk, I can target certain parts of your bodies now, I can give you back your sight, Marie-nee-chan, and heal Kayama-sensei's back as well." Marie swallowed nervously at this.

Eri had wanted to try this same thing years ago, before the battle against the Paranormal Liberation Front, after she had given Togata Mirio back his Quirk. Eri offered to help Marie then, but Marie had turned her down. Eri could only heal entire bodies then, and Marie had grown much stronger since she came to U.A., if Eri had rewound her body then Marie would have been left weaker overall, so she had refused at the time.

Nemuri took Marie's hand and said, "This is your choice, Marie. I can't make it for you. I admit, the thought of being able to walk again is tempting, and I will accept, but you've never seen many of the people at your wedding. You may be in for a surprise. It will be like you've met all your friends all over again." Marie's hand was trembling as she said, "Do it, Eri. Give me back my eyes." Eri nodded, and her horn started to glow. "I'm going to do Kayama-sensei first, because hers is the more serious injury," she said as she moved closer to Nemuri and took her hand.

Nemuri was surrounded by yellow light, and then it focused on her spine. Nemuri started breathing heavily, and then gave what could only be described as a cross between a cry of pain and pleasure, and then Eri stopped. "Try to stand," Eri said after taking a minute to catch her breath, using her Quirk like that had taken an amazing effort of will. Nemuri gripped her wheelchair, and pushed against it, and stood up! She wobbled slightly, it had been years since she had last stood up on her own, but she managed to stay standing for a minute before she sat back down. "It worked!" Nemuri cried joyously.

Eri turned to Marie then and again her horn glowed, and she reached out her hands like a saint making a blessing as she gently touched Marie's eyes. The skin around Marie's eyes went through a strange process, like watching the reverse of aging, and the opposite of burning. It looked and felt like watching a piece of meat burn in reverse. Eri finally stopped, but Marie didn't open her eyes. She said, "Mom, get in front of me. I…I want you to be the first thing I see."

Nemuri slowly stood up and took Marie's hands and said, "I'm here." Marie slowly opened her eyes, and looked at the smiling face of her Mother, for the first time in her life. Her Mother was older than she imagined, and some grey was starting to show on her face. Yet, it was almost like looking at another version of her own face, aside from her darker skin tone Marie had slightly thicker lips and a flatter nose than Nemuri. Marie broke down in happy tears and said, "Mom…I've wanted this for so many years…" Mother and daughter hugged each other tightly, and then Eri and Joey hugged them both as well, and the first of many happy tears were shed that day.

When they arrived at the shrine, they saw that everyone was already there, all of the now grown-up Classes 1-A and 1-B, all dressed up in their finest kimono and yukata along with the teachers that could arrive and the Kaminari family as well to greet their new in-laws. All of them smiled as Marie and Midnight emerged, only for their smiles to become expressions of shock to see their teacher was once again walking! "Midnight-sensei! You can walk again!" Mina yelled. Marie saw her and was amazed at her pink skin and black sclera. "Mina, you're so pink!" Marie declared, and then everyone started yelling in shock, "SHE CAN SEE!"

"How!?" Midoriya yelled. Marie saw him now, he had had a growth spurt since they had first met, and was now a very tall and muscular 6 ft 2 in. Yet, he still had a boyish look in his face, and his large green eyes were full of earnestness and excitement. "Eri-chan healed us both," Midnight explained, and Eri emerged with Joey supporting her, she was very tired from using her Quirk to heal the two of them. "Boy will Kaminari be surprised," said Kirishima. Marie was surprised at how sharp his teeth looked, but he nonetheless had an honest face and smile that was extremely endearing. "Yeah," Marie agreed as everyone started to walk up the stairs of the shrine, and the wedding they were all waiting for.
