Izuku recalled his experience diving into the human sub-consciousness. Mementos was a strange place, its expression of people's thoughts, in particular their desire to let heroes do all the work in society, had always unnerved him. But there was one part of Mementos that made him feel safe, it was rare, but sometimes a golden light in the shape of a towering man would shoot through a group of shadows, annihilating them.
That was how the public had always viewed All Might, but just once, deep within the tunnels, the Phantom Thieves had glimpsed what villain's viewed All Might as. The monster was too large for the tunnels it inhabited, its mere presence enough to chase the Thieves from Mementos for an entire week. That was all to say, Izuku thought he wouldn't be sacred of All Might in the real world.
He was wrong.
The Shadow had been a monstrous, inhumane creature, but now, the smile- no, smirk- upon his mentor's face was all too real. "We need to run!"
"Fuck off!" Bakugou blasted towards the hero, but he was quickly caught out of the air, and sent tumbling down the street. The explosive boy drew All Might's attention for but a second, before the giant turned his attention back to a fleeing Izuku.
The teen turned to see a burst of wind shoot towards him, though he reacted fast enough to increase his resistance with a shout of "Hell Biker!" The Persona moved in front of him to resist the blow, before releasing a burst of fire towards the number one.
"Is that all you have, hero?" Toshinori shot through the inferno, his fist shooting out, but stopping short of Izuku. His successor's body was covered by black energy, sparking green, his fist was outstretched, meeting All Might's own. Izuku's estimate put All Might's max at around 80% of his 100%, the weights brought that down to around 60%. Midoriya's current max was 30%, but Blackwhip brought that up to 35. That meant All Might's blow was twice the power of Izuku's, but the boy could just barely catch the attack.
"Izanagi!" All Might glanced up in time to catch the blade that sped towards him between his palms, but that left his lower body open. A punch to his weak spot send him stumbling backwards, straight into the path of a colossal explosion. The noise disturbed his senses, but he could just barely make out the two teens in front of him, engaged in some form of argument.
"Foolish heroes! Don't take your eyes off your opponent." His fists raised into the air, before coming down on the concrete in front of him: "Alaska SMASH!" The street shook as bits of tarmac flew into the air, the buildings creaked and lent forwards, the man made earthquake soon sending them toppling onto the road.
"Get off me!" Bakugou scrambled away from Izuku as they touched down on one of the intact roofs. Float and Blackwhip were the only quirks he had any real control over, allowing Izuku to grab Bakugou during the chaos of All Might's attack. "I'm not letting you make me a coward!"
"Bak-"
"Don't try to bullshit me!" The blond pointed an accusing finger: "You assault some asshat, get whisked off to some shithole and come back with some insane power! Now you've got a bunch of extras following you around, who can do the same stupid stuff as you..." He stood there panting for a few seconds, staring in rage at the green haired boy before him. "You... you just think because you've got some fancy crime group- cause I know it was you in that video- you think you get to try to be anything but a useless villain!"
"That's-" Izuku was interrupted again as the world faded to black, leaving only Bakugou standing before him, only now, the boy was dressed in a strange amalgamation of his and All Might's costumes, his now yellow eyes staring forth in outrage.
"You're not better than me- Deku! I'm the best, I'll always be the best." It wasn't really much of a surprise to Izuku that Katsuki had a palace, the boy's view had been warped ever since he got his power. Not that Izuku could change that now. What was a surprise, however, was when Bakugou lunged straight for him.
Just as All Might found the building his opponents were hiding upon, the automated voice rang up, confirming what Nezu had predicted near minutes earlier: "Katsuki Bakugou is out!" Toshinori's eyes darted around the city, finding Izuku flying straight for the exit. His student was fast, but All Might would easily catch him. The man dashed between buildings, before making a straight jump towards Izuku.
What he didn't expect was several green orbs to be thrown towards him, the same kind kept on Katsuki's belt. The grenades surrounded him, forcing him straight into the path of Izuku' second pilfered weapon. The first grenade gauntlet had merely disoriented Yagi but now, combined with the explosives surrounding him, it was enough to send him straight into the floor.
The hero smiled as his successor flew through the exit gates, he knew he had made the right choice.
"It was a logical ruse. Everyone will be going to the training camp." The usual round of cheers. "Those who failed will be required to take extra remedial classes." The usual round of booing, he was surprised the class hadn't gotten used to Aizawa's routine. "Quite down and get on the bus, Midoriya, your taking different transport." Izuku stayed next to his teacher as the bus took off, quickly replaced by another vehicle that took its place.
"Morgana!" Aizawa wasn't even surprised that Nezu wasn't joking when he said that SEES's transport was a cat. Izuku greeted his friends alongside the principal who sat within the van, leaving Aizawa to board last.
"I decided to bring the team along with your trip, not only to increase their capabilities, but with everything that's been happening recently, I need maximum security. Aizawa, naturally, you'll be in charge of making sure they get on with your class." Great, now he had several new problem children and a problem cat to take care of, fantastic. Shōta could just tell this summer camp would be the worst yet.
"-that's why we'll be doing a test of courage!" Ragdoll spoke excitedly, Aizawa trusted the Wild Wild pussscats, they improved the students drastically, but they were always too energetic. So far, the camp had been reasonable, the students were above average in the starting endurance test and were determined enough to keep going for the last few days. Still, that didn't mean all of them could slack off today.
"Those who failed their exams will come with me." Ignoring Ashido's protests, Eraser dragged the students towards the main building, leaving Vlad to deal with the true problem children. At least he would have, if halfway into the lesson Mandalay's quirk didn't speak into their minds.
"Villains are attacking the camp! They are after Izuku Midoriya, if you know his location, get him to the main building immediately!"
"I'm not paid enough for this shit."
"It's a shame really." The villain- Muscular- who he had confronted, pressed a button on his belt. "I'd have loved to beat the hell out of you and the kid, but I was told if I found you I'd get to have the rest. Good enough for me. I'd wish you luck kid, but I reckon you'd die anyway."
The man stepped back into the portal that had appeared and the evening air of the hill side went silent, before something new flew from the portal, glowing sword aimed to spear Izuku. His dagger rose and locked with the blade, granting him a full view of the creature that now stood before him.
"Akechi?"
ANs:
I was contemplating splitting this in half, but I'd like next chapter to be as long as possible because well, it's kind of important.
Next chapter: Justice, The World and The Hunger.
