Her Protection

In every major town and city, there is a house where no official record exists, and its windows have been boarded up for longer than anyone around could remember. The previous occupants, if there were any, are untraceable. And no organization or individual will ever lay claim to the plot as it stands. This is perfect for someone like Espio the Chameleon, as his job of being a ninja has become increasingly difficult due to somehow and some way people noticing all the enemies he's taken out, and his job of being a ninja was in jeopardy because of this, and he will no longer obtain the money he always gets for a job well done.

Despite the obvious dangers in front of him, Espio would nevertheless break into the house through a back ground-floor window and never touch any of the outer doors. Espio would see amongst the dust of inhabitants long gone. A flattened cardboard box, an overturned child's cot, and blading patches on a capret where the pile has been worn away Invariably, there will be an orphaned double bedroom in the master bedroom. What Espio wouldn't see, however, are rats, cockroaches, or animal waste. Vermin knows better than to come into this abandoned house.

These are Her sacred spaces.

The first time Espio would visit the house, he would bring only what he needed to help him enter. He would locate the master bedroom, draw an unbreakable circle of dust around his feet, and make it a meter in diameter to be safe. Espio would then face the doorway and say this aloud.

"I wish to make a sacrifice. Will you welcome the offering?"

Espio would then leave as quickly as possible and would not return until night had fallen. Once night did fall, Espio had brung nails, a hammer, an empty liter bottle, a sharp and sturdy knife, and a torch. Espio would enter the house the same way he did before. Espio would remember the master bedroom and walk to it, and he would see someone sleeping there. Espio would remind himself not to worry about waking them up; She already took care of that for him. Espio would turn the sleeper over and see the sleeping woman as an older woman. Sighing in guilt, he would cut the older woman's jugular vein and make sure to collect as much blood as possible.

Espio would pour a little bit of the woman's blood into every room of the house, including the master bedroom, but also make sure to have some blood left upon finishing. Espio would leave the house the same way he broke in and close up the boards again. This is what the hammer and nails are for. Espio would walk home and not speak to anybody on his way. When he had reached his home, Espio would tip some of the blood onto his right hand and smear it over the door handle before he entered his house. Espio would then go to bed right after, but he needed to remind himself that he'd done every task of the ritual correctly.

If there was any blood left, Espio would pour it onto any pavement in the city, but not down the drain. The knife Espio had would never be used again, and he buried it somewhere that no one would ever be able to find it. Espio knows not to trouble himself by covering his tracks. When Espio next leaves his house, the blood on his door handle will be gone, and the murder he committed will have no repercussions whatsoever. From the moment Espio left her temple, DNA evidence will never again implicate him; law enforcement will creep around your footsteps without even touching them. And on cameras, his face will only be seen as a blur.

Espio is under Her protection now. And for those willing to do any of this, just make sure to find the right house...
