My Hero Academia: Two Minds, One Body
Gemini: Switch! Hurt and Heal

[Aldera Junior High (Morning)
POV: Midoriya Izuku]

The good mood that Izuku had from waking up with his new Quirk and saving that bird with it was quickly giving away to apprehension and fear as he approached the school.

As he walked through the school entrance, Izuku temporarily forgot about his Quirk and how happy he was. Instead, that familiar feeling of weakness and terror crept through his body.

He had to go into that school and his classroom to deal with Katsuki and his goons. He had to go through another day of being bullied into submission.

Feeling sick to his stomach, the trembling Izuku rushed into the school, ran into the bathroom, ran into a stall, and violently threw up into the toilet.

Because of the intense bullying he had to face every day for the last couple of years, this had become his daily routine. He would come to school, head straight to the bathroom, and throw up due to the stress and fear that would swallow him whole, shiver on the floor, and then fix himself up for class.

"You know, this is not healthy," Uzuki told him with a sigh.

Izuku heard him but remained silent as he threw up again.

"I'll be shocked if we didn't have stress ulcers," Uzuki continued as Izuku continued to throw up. After another minute of stress vomiting, Izuki sat on the floor and shivered, his legs pressed against his chest as he wrapped his arms around them.

'S-Sorry,' Izuku apologized.

"Don't sweat it," Uzuki told him. "At least you have your spare toothbrush and toothpaste In your bag."

Izuku nodded.

"You don't want to face them, do you?" Uzuki gently asked.

Izuku shook his head and then feebly replied, 'N-No…'

"What if I told you that you didn't have to face them?" Uzuki asked.

'I-I'm not skipping school…' Izuku instantly responded.

Uzuki chuckled and replied, "Who said anything about skipping school?"

'I j-just thought since it s-sounds like you don't l-like school as much, that y-you would skip,' Izuku explained.

"I despise this place," Uzuki admitted. "But we both know why I do, right?"

Izuku nodded.

"There is one more thing you should know about our Quirk. I'm not here just to be a pretty voice, Izu," Uzuki told him. "It's hard to explain. So, I want you to say the words, "Gemini: Switch" for me, please."

Izuku blinked.

'Gemini: Switch?' Izuku repeated.

The moment Izuku thought those words, Izuku felt a hard tug in the back of his skull, which caused him to fly back, his vision darkening temporarily, only to return through a white fog.

But what alarmed Izuku was that he was staring over the shoulder of his own body.

"What i-in the world?!" Izuku exclaimed.

The body of Izuku began to stand up as Izuku started to panic.

"Calm down," Uzuki told him.

Izuku blinked.

He didn't hear the voice in his head.

"U-Uzu-kun?" Izuku stammered.

[Aldera Junior High (Morning)
POV: Mirā Ukuzi]

"Yeah, it's me," Uzuki replied as he walked out of the stall on shaky legs.

This was the first time Uzuki had been in a human body in his entire life, and it felt heavier than he expected.

"What h-happened? W-Why can I see my o-own body?!" Izuku exclaimed.

"Give me a minute," Uzuki told him as he stumbled to the bathroom counter, hunched over it, and panted. He slowly looked at his reflection, and the first thing he caught was his hunter-green-hued irises, which seemed to pulsate with dark energy.

The second thing he noticed was a trembling, faint, wispy white mist that outlined his body. Uzuki shook his head, reached into his bag, pulled out the toothbrush and toothpaste, and thoroughly brushed his teeth.

'Okay, Izu,' Uzuki thought. 'Sorry about that. I needed a second to get used to this. This is the ultimate technique of our Quirk. It allows us to switch who controls this body.'

"I-I see…" Izuku murmured. "So t-that means that there is more t-that you are hiding in terms of s-skills, right? T-That would be the o-only reason why that a-ability is t-there."

'Just two more things actually,' Uzuki thought as he rinsed out his water and spat it out. 'And one more thing for you, but I'm not sure when those things will come into effect yet. But I will.'

"So, was t-that white mist always around us?" Izuku asked.

Uzuki shook his head. 'No, that mist is your consciousness. I don't know much more about it. Did you not notice the black mist that was around you?"

The mist seemed to shrink as Uzuki felt embarrassment flowing from Izuku.

"N-No…" Izuku replied.

Uzuki chuckled and said, 'Don't sweat it. Now just sit back. Today, you don't have to worry about facing Katsuki.'

The white mist seemed to grow again as a relieved Izuku chirped out, "Thank you."

Having gotten used to being in a body, Uzuki walked out of the bathroom and down the hall. Thanks to his time as Izuku's shadow, he knew where Izuku's classroom was. As he walked, Izuku muttered, "This is such a-a strange e-experience…"

'I know. It's freaking weird, isn't it?' Uzuki replied.

"It's like I'm p-playing Skyrim in the t-third person," Izuku told him. "E-Except I'm not controlling the body."

'I wonder if we'll be able to do more with this. This mist can't just be there due to our consciousness…' Uzuki thought as he reached his classroom door.

"It's t-time. G-Good luck," Izuku told him.

Uzuki gave a confident smirk as he turned the doorknob and opened the door, only to see the entire classroom and teacher turn to look at him. "W-Why are they a-all staring?" Izuku whispered in pain as the white mist shrunk again at his discomfort.

"Midoriya-san. You're late," The teacher said with a disapproving tone.

"Sorry about that," Uzuki said with a grin. "I ate something wrong, and my stomach made me pay for it."

The classroom began to whisper in confusion, which made Uzuki raise his eyebrow.

Was it something he said?

The teacher seemed confused by something as well, but they shook their head and said, "Since this is a one-time occurrence, I won't punish you. Besides, you only missed five minutes. Get to your seat."

"Thanks," Uzuki said with a salute before he walked down the row of students towards his seat. "Uzu-kun! Be careful. Kacchan and his friends m-might have s-sabotaged my d-desk again," Izuku warned.

Uzuki got to his desk and paused when he saw a dozen thumb-tacks on the seat, with the needles pointing up. "Real mature, people," he said out loud as he tilted his chair to the side, causing the thumb-tacks to fall to the floor. Uzuki looked to the teacher and said, "Is there a broom or something around here?"

Once again, the classroom exploded into whispers as the teacher said, "U-Um, yes. Let me retrieve them, Midoriya-san."

The teacher rushed out of the classroom, leaving the students in the clear.

"I'm shocked you managed to notice that, Deku: The Quirkless Wonder," One of Bakugou's friends said with a sneer.

"Well, I'm not blind," Uzuki said as he turned to the long-fingered youth. "So, Finger anyone lately, Yubi?" Uzuki joked, which caused the class to gasp in shock.

"O-Oh my," a flustered Izuku muttered.

"What did you say, Quirkless?!" The brown-haired boy, now known as Yubi, exclaimed as he stood up at his desk.

"Did you not hear me?" Uzuki asked before he laughed. "I didn't know being deaf was part of your Quirk too."

Yubi reached over, grabbed Uzuki by his collar and shouted, "You wanna say that to my face?!"

"Take your hands off of me," Uzuki warned with a soft but cold edge to his voice as Uzuki's dark eyes glared at long-fingered youth.

Yubi opened his mouth to respond but paled and immediately took his hands off of him.

"H-He actually listened?" Izuku asked with shock.

'It's one of my passive abilities,' Uzuki answered. 'Anyone that has a weaker will than me is instantly petrified with terror. I think that's due to my original state as a Shadow. Shadows are typically antagonistic, due to the owners of the Shadows actively denying our existence as their true selves.'

"A-And since you're the other half of me, I should h-have something s-similar?" Izuku asked.

'You do. But, I'll let you figure out what that is on your own,' Uzuki teased.

"Good boy," Uzuki said as he patted Yubi on the cheek with a patronizing smile. "Now, seeing as you're the only one here trying to start shit, I'm guessing Jūdan and Bakugou are not here?" Uzuki asked.

"T-They are," Yubi answered as he looked to the side. "Jūdan wasn't feeling well, so Bakugou took him to the nurse's office."

"T-That's really s-sweet of Kacchan," Izuku muttered, a hint of bitterness in his voice.

Just then, the doors opened, and Bakugou walked in with a scowl, causing both Uzuki and Yubi to turn their attention to him.

"Damn Extra. Getting sick and making me miss these stupid lessons," Bakugou growled, then paused when he noticed Uzuki and Yubi. "Getting him all warmed up for me, Yubi?" Bakugou asked with a smirk as Yubi took a step away from Uzuki.

"N-Not exactly, Boss," Yubi replied.

"You need to get better goons, Katsuki. This one seems pretty shaken up," Uzuki taunted.

The class gasped, and Bakugou looked amused. "Well, well, well. The Driftwood seems to have grown a pair since yesterday."

"Well, when you tell someone to swan-dive off of a roof, they tend to do that," Uzuki responded, the cold edge returning to his voice.

"Well, we can't have that, can we?" Bakugou growled out with narrowed his eyes as he marched over to Uzuki.

"U-Um, Uzu-kun?" Izuku fearfully stammered out.

'Relax, Izu,' Uzuki gently said before he stood face to face with Bakugou.

"If you wanted to get a close-up of my beautiful face, I could have sent you a picture," Uzuki said before Bakugou grabbed his collar and hoisted him close, causing their foreheads to scrape against each other.

"I don't know what caused this change in you, but you have no right to act like your hot shit when you're not," Bakugou growled out with anger in his eyes. "You're still just a Quirkless, pathetic, gutless loser!"

Uzuki smirked as he dug his fingernails into his left palm hard enough to break the skin, causing blood to spill from the self-made wound. "So…Two things," Uzuki began calmly as his left palm began to glow with a moss-green light.

"One, you must have taken lessons to be this stupid. And two, you need to keep your hands to yourself," Uzuki hissed out as he shoved Bakugou back into two empty desks, which caused them to skid, but this caused an unfortunate tear in Uzuki's school jacket, revealing his dark green undershirt.

The other students, along with Yubi, quickly moved away from the oncoming carnage, leaving a large section between them and the duo empty.

Bakugou looked stunned for a moment, most likely due to being pushed by the person he tormented for years. "You did grow a pair…" Bakugou whispered, more to himself than to Uzuki, before he smirked. "Too bad I'm going to rip them off of you!" Bakugou screamed as he launched himself towards Uzuki.

"Uzu-kun!" Izuku exclaimed in horror.

With a flash of moss-green light, a field of black energy formed around Uzuki's left arm and past his fingertips, with an aura of moss-green surrounding it. Bakugou stopped his charge at the sight of the weapon Uzuki created with stunned silence.

"W-What?" Izuku whispered in shock.

"What the fuck is that? Some trick?!" Bakugou yelled.

"I have to thank you. Because of you and your goons' intense bullying all these years, you allowed me to activate my Quirk finally."Uzuki taunted darkly.

Bakugou stared in a mix of shock and horror at this reveal. "I want to introduce you to Necrotic Edge. If I slice you with this, not only does it damage your physical body, it hurts your spirit as well, and who knows for how long it could be," Uzuki taunted.

"You think that terrifies me?!" Bakugou barked.

"I'm starting to think you took lessons in buffoonery, Katsuki," Uzuki said with a laugh. "If you still want to fight, even when knowing what I can do, then come on and hit me."

Bakugou scowled as explosions flew from his hand while Uzuki smirked, his eyes gleaming with madness. "What are you waiting for?" Uzuki taunted as he lifted his left arm to cross his chest, the glow of his blade lighting his face. "Hit me. Fight me," Uzuki goaded. "But trust me, if you do it, you will not be walking away with anything intact."

"Uzu-kun, y-you must calm down," Izuku told him. "T-This isn't the way."

Just then, the teacher came in with the broom with a, "Sorry that took so long. I had to go to the other side of the…"

The teacher drifted off, seeing the tense standoff, and asked, "Bakugou, Midoriya, what is going on here?"

"Yeah, Bakugou, what is going on here?" Uzuki taunted, his smirk widening enough to reveal his teeth.

"This loser just won't shut the fuck up, so I'm going to make him," Bakugou responded.

"Enough of this. Everyone settle down and get back to your seats this instant!" The teacher exclaimed.

Bakugou snarled out, "This ain't over, Deku," as he eased his body.

"I think it is. Because this is the last day that you, or your pathetic friends, put their hands on me," Uzuki warned. "And if you or anyone else tries to start something, I will finish it, and I will be taking something from you that you will sorely miss," Uzuki hissed out, his eyes locked on Bakugou.

"To your seats!" The teacher yelled.

Uzuki swung his left arm, dismissing Necrotic Edge, and sat down at his desk, ignoring the looks of both fear and admiration from the students around him.

"W-Wow, I've never seen look at me t-that way before," Izuku murmured.

'Sorry I lost my cool like that,' Uzuki said after a moment. 'I just saw red when he appeared.'

"I-It's okay…Admittedly, I-I kind of enjoyed seeing that," Izuku admitted shamefully. "I-Is that bad?"

'Not in the slightest, Izu,' Uzuki replied.

"G-Good," Izuku said. "So, I have Healing Bullet, and you have Necrotic Edge….I heal, you destroy…."

Uzuki nodded.

"It seems balanced, I g-guess…" Izuku murmured. "Can you add that m-my Hero Analysis recording notebook?"

'I can add it for you. If you want, I can switch with you,' Uzuki told him.

Uzuki felt happiness from Izuki, which felt like a warming sensation around him. "I think I'll stay like f-for a little b-bit longer. I k-kind of like it."

Uzuki smiled.

[Aldera Junior High (Afternoon)
POV: Mirā Ukuzi]

After the explosive confrontation between Uzuki and Bakugou, Uzuki and Izuku found themselves in the middle of the school's rumor mill.

"T-This is strange," Izuku muttered as Uzuki walked down the halls, ignoring the appraising looks from the various students. "Everyone is p-paying more a-attention to us, Uzu-kun. I-I do not like it," Izuku said, the white mist shrinking around Uzuki, causing the various students to gasp.

Uzuki frowned and replied, 'I know Izu. I just don't think they were expecting us to face down Bakugou the way we did. I'm sure it'll die down by tomorrow.'

'I-I hope so,' Izuku murmured.

"Midoriya-san!" A voice shouted from behind Uzuki. Uzuki turned around to see a 6'ft humanoid fox girl with long blonde hair, emerald-green eyes, and two tails swaying behind her.

'U-um….S-She's really tall…' Uzuki stammered.

Uzuki heard Izuku giggle before he asked, "I've n-never heard you s-stammer before."

'I wasn't expecting to talk to her a girl today,' Uzuki replied.

"H-Hey," Uzuki said.

"I know this is out of the blue, but the school is buzzing about you standing up to Bakugou, and I wanted to say see you," the girl happily said. "Bakugou has been such a jerk since school started. It was nice to see someone stand up to him and take him down a peg, especially you."

"He bullied me for many years. It took a while to summon up the courage. But now that I have, I hope everyone finds the courage to stand up to their bully or bullies," Uzuki replied.

The girl nodded, her expression becoming thoughtful before a smile graced her muzzle. "You're right. Maybe It's time I stand up to my bullies too. Thank you, Midoriya-san."

Uzuki gave her a small smile and said, "Glad to have inspired you."

Flustered, The foxy girl let out a shy giggle and then said, "W-Well, that's all I wanted to tell you. U-um, you have a good day, Midoriya-san!"

The girl quickly ran off, leaving the befuddled Uzuki behind.

"You s-sure did inspire her," Izuku murmured. "But I w-wish she knew that it w-wasn't me that i-inspired her…It was you."

'Let's stop that,' Uzuki said. 'We're two halves of the same coin, Izu. Your accomplishments are mine and vice versa. Besides, I wouldn't have been able to inspire her if you hadn't done the brave thing and accepted the dark truths about yourself. We both inspired that girl. Not me. Got it?'

"H-How can you be confident with m-me, b-but be shy with that girl?" Izuku questioned.

Uzuki grumbled, 'Shuddap…'

Izuku giggled again and said, "T-Thank you, Uzu-kun…"

'Anytime, Izu,' Uzuki replied as he continued to walk outside.

"N-Now, we should go over our Quirk. J-Just to make sure I have it right," Izuku began. "Quirk: Gemini. Description: Gemini is a Quirk that allows the user to combine with their Shadow. A Shadow is the true self suppressed by the user or, the Shadow is a semi-mirror version of the user. "

'Semi-Mirror?' Uzuki asked as he sat down on a bench outside, focusing on Izuku instead of the various noises and sounds of all the other kids at recess.

"Y-Yes," Izuku said. "I-If you were a complete mirror version of me, you would be pure evil. Our personalities are different, but the core of us remains the same. We both want to help people and become heroes. You're prone to anger, confident, sarcastic, and laid back while I…."

'While you are Humble, kind, selfless, caring, and timid,' Uzuki said.

"R-Right. There is a lot of overlap between us, but we are two sides of the same coin. That is why I say "Semi-mirror" instead of a complete one," Izuku said with a happy tone. "W-Where was I? Oh yes. Once the user accepts the Shadow, the Shadow becomes one with them, granting them not only their "mind" as a council to the user but grants them special abilities that suit each 'mind.'"

"Main Ability: Switch," Izuku continued. "It allows the two personalities or "minds" to switch control over their singular body. Side Ability One: Healing Bullet. Healing Bullet is the unique ability of the Midoriya Izuku "mind." It allows Izuku to-"

'D-Did you just refer to yourself in the third person?' Uzuki asked.

"S-Shush," Izuku said. "It allows Izuku to fire a shard of healing energy from his fingertips. There is a second ability, potentially a passive ability, but it is unknown at this time. For the unique ability of the Mirā Ukuzi "mind," he possesses Side Ability Two: Necrotic Edge."

"Necrotic Edge grants Uzuki the ability to harness a blade made of poisonous energy that can not only damage the physical body but harm the spirit of that body as well. He also possesses the passive ability: Shadow's Will. Anyone who holds a will weaker than his will succumb to a fear effect," Izuku explained.

"End Note: The ceiling of this Quirk is unknown, as the Shadow only knows its beginning but not how far it can go, but I hypothesize that it has a vast amount of hidden potential and that it can evolve," Izuku finished.

'Very good,' Uzuki proudly said. 'But that's not all. There is one crucial thing you need to know regarding Healing Bullet and Necrotic Edge.'

"T-There is?" Izuku asked.

'Yeah. I was hoping you could think about the two things for me. One: What were the emotions we had when using the abilities, and Two: What type of pain were we feeling?' Uzuki asked.

Izuku was silent for a moment before he said, "You were very angry with Kaccha….Bakugou," Izuku corrected. "And you seemed to hurt your palm…And as for me, I was feeling distraught about the bird being in pain. It wanted to be the one in pain instead of the bird…"

Uzuki felt a feeling of realization come from Izuku.

"Pain and emotion…." Izuku muttered.

'That is the crucial piece of our Quirk. When I first appeared, you were at your lowest. Your confidence was destroyed, your self-worth was crushed, and you despised who you were for so many years. You shaped how this Quirk works,' Uzuki explained.

'You're over-emotional, so our power works on that emotion. The stronger we feel it, the stronger our ability is. The anger and bitterness that built up from all these years are what fuels me. The guilt and sorrow you feel are what fuels you. And it is those emotions that fuel the Healing Bullet and Necrotic Edge,' Uzuki finished.

"O-Oh…" Izuku murmured.

'As for the pain, We need the pain to release our respective abilities. You, emotional pain because that is what you dealt with all of your life. For me, physical pain is what helps,' Uzuki said.

"Why?" Izuku asked.

'I am your Shadow, Izu. We both know why I need the physical pain…' Uzuki answered with a soft chuckle.

"I-I'm sorry…." Izuku whispered as Uzuki felt both guilt and sorrow coming from Izuku. "I-I'm messed up, aren't I-I?"

'We better get back inside. Recess is over,' Uzuki replied softly.

"Uzu-kun! A-Answer me!" Izuku yelled.

Uzuki sighed.

'Izuku…This is who we are. Yeah, what happened to you shaped how our Quirk works, and yes, it's fucked up, but we can change,' Uzuki told him.

Uzuki stood up from the bench at the sound of the ringing bell and said, 'Remember, I can see where our Quirk comes from, but you will determine where it goes from here.'
