Okay, so, this is basically an alternate version of my other story 'Bloodspell' (reason why the prologue for this story is very similar to the one from 'Bloodspell' and why the self-insert is called Blair); like 'Bloodspell', this is a story about a girl from our world wishing to be in the TVD world and this girl becomes a siphoner. This story will have many similarities but also many differences from 'Bloodspell'; for example, in 'Bloodspell' Blair is an untriggered werewolf as well as a siphoner so she'll become a tribrid eventually, in this one she's just a siphoner and she'll turn into a heretic pretty quickly into the story (probably by the second or third chapter); moreover, in 'Bloodspell' Blair won't remember that she's in a TV show while in this one she will – although she won't remember who she used to be and most of the future events of the show will be blocked, though she'll be aware of a lot of past events, like who the Salvatore brothers are, about Katherine, the tomb (though she won't be aware that Katherine is not in the tomb) and even about Elena being a doppelgänger, the curse and the Originals. And sometimes she'll have flashes of knowledge of future events (premonitions), about things she's supposed to change. Also, this Blair as a character will be different from Blair Gilbert of 'Bloodspell' in personality, less of a mean girl and more of a free spirit. Like 'Bloodspell', this story will start with Damon and Blair being friends with benefits before turning into love.
I hope you like this story. Tell me what you think!
Prologue
Sometimes–when she had nothing better to do–Blair liked to imagine ways in which she could change her favorite tv shows, movies or books. There was nothing particularly wrong with them (except for the last season of Game of Thrones, of course, which was despised by everyone with a brain and common sense), but she enjoyed the idea of the what if.
One of her favorite TV shows was the Vampire Diaries. It had its fair share of problems, no doubt, especially in the later seasons, but it remained–at least, in her opinion–one of the best of its genre (not to the level of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, of course, but which was?). It was certainly iconic.
What Blair liked best was the vast and varied world they had created, with its own set of rules and lore. Well, and Damon, obviously. She loved the Originals–well, not Finn, but definitely all the others–but her favorite character has always been and will always be Damon.
While Blair had loved the relationship between Damon and Elena, sometimes she wondered what would have happened if Damon had fallen for someone else instead. Especially since Damon had spent 3 entire seasons pining after Elena while she was with his brother. It was miserable watching him being so...well, miserable. What would have happened if, instead, Damon had fallen for another girl and not Elena?
But that wasn't all. Since she was pathetic like that, she had actually written a list of the things she would change or add to the Vampire Diaries.
She liked to imagine what it would be like to be a part of that world, spending hours thinking about what kind of character she would be. Like in a video game–what would her avatar be like and look like?
Her appearance, first of all. Her avatar couldn't look like herself. No, her avatar would look like Barbara Palvin, but with bigger boobs, like Sophie Mudd.
Her name would be Blair, like her own name. But what about her surname? After some thinking, she decided on the surname Fell, because the Fells were one of the founding families but there was no major character in the show who was a Fell except for Meredith and she wasn't even all that relevant. She remembered that there were two very minor characters in the show who were among the girls who had entered the Miss Mystic Falls pageant, one was Blair Fell and another was Tina Fell, the blonde one. So, Blair would replace this Blair Fell character.
She wanted Blair – her avatar – to be the witch of the story but not a normal witch. She wanted her to be a siphoner and part of the Gemini Coven. Therefore, she would replace Bonnie as the witch of the story and as Elena's best friend. Blair would be a Bennett witch from her maternal grandmother's side and a Parker witch from her maternal grandfather's side (perhaps Blair's grandfather could be an uncle of Joshua Parker). And the Bennetts wouldn't be black, obviously.
Blair's maternal grandmother – Sheila (who would look like Sigourney Weaver) – would be the one who taught her magic, like Bonnie's grandmother was the one who taught Bonnie in canon (but she would die when Blair is sixteen), while her grandfather would have died while Blair was very little. Her mother Abby (who she imagined as looking like Carice van Houten) would have been the one to desiccate Mikael and therefore she would have lost her magic and then left Mystic Falls like in canon.
Blair's father, on the other hand, would be a Fell and the older brother of Meredith Fell (who was terribly unutilized in the show). Her father would be aware of the vampires but he wouldn't be part of the Council (and neither would be Meredith part of the Council, she'd just work as a doctor at Mystic Falls Hospital). In fact, her father would be out of town for business a lot; he would be an absentee father and Blair would be left at home alone (or with her grandmother, when she was younger) most of the time. He would make sure to leave her plenty of money to take care of herself and her needs, as a way to buy her forgiveness, but it would be more the time that he would spend away from Mystic Falls than the time he would spend with his daughter. That would cause Blair to resent her father and have a strained relationship with him.
Blair would be descended from Emily Bennet – who would look like Ruth Wilson. For the rest, Emily would be the same as canon Emily, except for posing as Katherine's paid handmaiden and not her slave.
Damon would need a Bennett witch specifically to open the tomb, not just any witch. So, he would enlist her help. But Blair wouldn't know how to open the tomb only with the crystal so she would need to find Emily's grimoire and use the crystal as a source of power. (She could technically open the tomb by just siphoning the spell that kept the tomb locked but she would decide against doing that because she wouldn't want to free all the other vampires in the tomb).
Also, Blair would be aware of the existence of vampires, of who the Salvatore Brothers are, about Katherine and the tomb (but she wouldn't be aware of Katherine not being in it) and even about Elena being a doppelganger, about the curse and Klaus and the Originals. Therefore, she would want to do everything she could to protect Elena – perhaps even decide to turn into a heretic to be stronger so to better protect Elena when the time comes.
Damon, in exchange, would turn her (as she would ask him to do), he would help her with vampire stuff, and he would also swear to leave the people Blair cared about alone; Blair would literally make him a list of the people that would be off-limits: Elena, Elena's aunt Jenna, Jeremy, Caroline, Caroline's mum (unless directly threatening him), Tyler, Matt and Matt's sister Vicki (specifically because she's Matt's sister and not because Blair cares about her). And, of course, Blair would also want to get her hands on Emily's grimoire once they find it.
Damon would also swear not to feed or kill in town unless absolutely necessary.
Also, what if the comet doesn't pass over Mystic Falls until December instead of September of 2009? Enough time for Blair and Damon to get ahold of the Crystal and then find Emily's grimoire while getting to know each other in the meantime. Damon would still make his presence known in town in September because of Stefan, to torment Stefan.
Of course, the thing she wanted the most after coming up with such a list, would be to become her avatar – Blair Fell herself. Though, of course, Blair wouldn't want to remember being anyone other than Blair Fell; she wouldn't want to remember that the life she would be living as Blair Fell was, in truth, a TV show. She wouldn't know what was going to happen before it happened. Otherwise, where would be the fun in that? But such a thing wasn't possible so she tried to banish the thought from her mind.
Blair decided to get ready for bed, not noticing the shooting star passing through the night sky outside her window. She went to sleep, not knowing everything would be different for her tomorrow (not that she would realize that anyway).
