Prologue

Summary of past events

A/N Hi, welcome back to the WWS again, I don't know how many times I'm gonna end up writing that but still. This is the Buffy installment of what happens after my rewrite of season 8, this will be a collection of little chapters from the different characters rather than a series of episodes. Less demony more settling down family stuff. Thought I'd recap season 8 before continuing though. Reading order and explanation of WWS can be found on my profile page. The aim is to update every Monday with whatever I've got done that week.

The year is 2005...

To start back with our tale, first of all where shall we set this piece. As it left off, Buffy and Dawn had moved to San Francisco following a year living in Somerset, England because Buffy deserved a well earnt rest. The newly activated slayers formed a team at the Giles' mansion in England, eventually splitting into three divisions. One in Rome, lead by trained watcher Andrew Wells, another in Cleveland, Ohio (the other hellmouth) lead by dark slayer Faith, and finally one left behind in England trained by Buffy but now dispersed to their own ends.

In our time away, the Watcher's Council was also restored to its former glory, it's principal Helen Jamison-Smythe (widow of Merrick Jamison-Smythe and first watcher of Buffy herself) and vice-principal our very own Rupert Giles. Who is thinking of moving himself back to California now Buffy is residing there. He tried being alone, but the memories he most cherishes are in the golden state.

Last year, Dawn was accepted into the University of California at Berkeley, hence the move to San Francisco. But is also training part time with the newly deployed California Watcher's Council department and is training beside fellow watcher and English country boy Leo Silvera. Buffy herself is back to the slaying, keeping herself busy with the creatures of the night. Especially one bleached blonde, who happened to be stalking her. After his stint at Wolfram and Hart in LA, Spike decided he needed a change and has taken to a very nice crypt (how he missed the old one so, despite his soul) which happens, funnily enough, to be located around five hundred yards from Buffy and Dawn's apartment block. The two are seeing each other on and off.

Xander and Anya committed themselves to marriage last year, and are now living quite happily on the building site of New Sunnydale, a town being rebuilt, and headed up by the one and only Alexander Harris. Which by the time it's finished should contain: a new town hall, high school, museum of Buffy Summers, an original Hellmouth site exhibit, twelve cemeteries and a magic shop, along with housing and a new high street. It shall be almost an exact replica of the old one, one people can visit as they learn more of how Buffy has saved the world.

In fact the rebuilding of the town after such destruction - unbeknownst to Buffy - has caused quite a stirring amongst the population of California. When everyone evacuated they took with them, the tales of the slayer and her friends have been spreading through the newspapers, making Buffy somewhat of a celebrity and heroine to the people. Of which she is now finding out.

After Willow and Tara spent almost a year living with the Devon coven in England, a nasty rumour was spreading around the country about witches so they decided to move back home. And now are living two doors down from Buffy, Dawn and just across the street from Spike, who likes hanging around after dark. But they are very much happy, they finished their college education from the coven and Tara is now training to be a teacher, and Willow is doing as much magic to avoid getting a job as possible; writing her grimoire for example which she hopes to publish for the aid of young witches.

Amy Madison returned to the fold last year, appearing at the coven and then disappearing again. She was poisoned by a demon insect species, known as 'the Wigs' and paralysed. But she soon recovered due to growing powers and is still out there.

After averting the latest apocalypse everything - it seems - has settled back into its rightful place. Everyone is happy, everyone is settling but demons are just around the corner and being a celebrity slayer is only the beginning...
