Lying in her rack Kate sighed as a there was a loud knock at her door, it felt like she had only just got to sleep after a very long and chaotic day dealing with FFV's who they could only send back across the invisible line and out of the EEZ, and who no doubt would be back as soon as Hammersley was over the horizon.

Hearing a second knock at the door she sighed turning her alarm clock around to see the time. It was just gone 03:00.

"Kate" Nav called softly opening the door and poking her head around the gap

"Yeah" Kate yawned turning herself over so she could see the door

"Sorry to wake you" Nav winced "but the boss wants you on the bridge" she said

"Did he say why" Kate said pushing herself up switching on the lamp next to her bed.

"no just he wants you on the bridge ASAP" Nav said "I'll see if I can sort a coffee out"

"Thanks Nik" Kate called climbing from her rack grabbing her uniform.

Walking up on to the Bridge Kate quickly pulled her hair in to a messy bun

"Sir" she yawned

"X" Mike smiled "there is something in the water. Take a look" he said showing her the EOD screen.

Looking at the darkened screen she could see something rectangular floating on the water.

"Could this not have waited till first light. It looks like an Esky. Just a simple normal esky it probably fell off a fishing boat in the storms a few days ago" Kate sighed feeling slightly annoyed to be dragged from her rack at 3am

"True but we should still take a closer look and take it out of the water in case it causes some issues. Or we can monitor it and see if it is contraband and apprehend anyone trying to take it"

"Right well we best get out there" Kate sighed heading down off the bridge.

Grabbing her boarding jacket and life vest she pulled them on, as well as grabbing a torch. climbing in to the RHIB along with Buffer and 2-dads.

"X if there are beers in there can we keep it and drink it" 2-dads grinned taking his seat as the crane lifted them into the water

"2-dads" Kate sighed "shut up and keep your eyes open" she said fixing the search light, so it was shining ahead.

They bounced across the waves slowly coming to a stop in front of the battered red Esky, struggling to stay afloat against the waves.

"Sir" Kate called over the radio "it's just a cooler box. Like I said" she continued.

"Copy that "Mike's voice crackled back "Let's get it out of the water. Whatever is inside can be reported to the Feds and we can stay low for a few hours see what happens"

Reaching over the side of the RHIB to grab the handle proved difficult as the current was causing the battered box to bob all over the place. Grabbing the handle Kate managed drag the cooler through the water. Lifting it over the side it was heavier than she was expecting. Lifting the lid she gasped at what she saw inside

"Sir" she said over the radio "i need you to meet us when we get back. Your not going to believe what's in the cooler" ….

so hope you like my new fic. this one has been floating in my mind for a while. i will try and update it soon but have been really buisy with work and am shattered but its almost the end of the school year so i should be able to write a bit more then.
