Chapter One

Something was wrong.

She could feel it in the very air, the chill was normal for an autumn night but it seemed to carry with it something that cut into her core. Sighing, she turned from the top of the large stairs that lead to Higurashi shrine, her broom clenched in her hands.

Her body was on autopilot, her hair rustling with the breeze. Tucking a lock behind her ear she sighed again and cast her bright blue eyes back towards the stairs as if expecting someone to crest them. When no one did she shook her head at her nervousness and decided to call it a night.

The sun had already begun to set and it would be getting dark quickly. Sighing she moved towards the main house, leaning the broom against the wall as she unlocked the door and entered shutting it quietly behind her.

There was no one there to greet her, there hadn't been for years. Her mother had passed when she was young, her grandparents had been gone long before she was born. All she had was her father and due to his line of work he could not be here.

No he was far too busy for that, that wasn't to say he didn't care about her because he did. He made sure she was taken care of, and he made damn sure that no one would ever be able to link them together. To do so would be to thrust her into the lion's den.

If anyone found out that All For One not only had a daughter, but one that he doted on and cared about, it would be his downfall.

And she would be damned if she let herself be a tool to harm him. While he was not a good man, he was still her father.

He loved her and she loved him.

End of story.

So as she felt a pulse of power echo across her home she could only narrow her eyes as a familiar head of dark blue hair stepped out of it.

"Tomura." Her voice did not betray her shock nor the worry that flooded her very being. She had met the slightly unhinged man only twice before so to see him appear in her home made alarms go off in her head.

"It's your father." His voice was cracked, as if he had been yelling and screaming for hours before coming to her. His gaze met hers through the fingers of the hand that was almost always on his face.

Her heart beat sped up.

"I need you to come with me." He angled his head to gaze down at her, taking in the way that she licked her lips. Her shoulders tense as she gulped thickly. She was so tiny...so fragile looking. Hard to believe she was his master's daughter, yet he knew first hand she was. His Master had not been happy when he had asked about her, his tone had set the older man off and he still bore the scar from the only time he had stuck him.

It was an unspoken rule, Kagome was off limits. She was to be protected at all costs yet never drug into their world.

Well, things had changed. Plans were now fucked and they were scrambling to pick up the pieces.

The king had fallen and now they needed a queen.

He was nowhere near ready to take the reigns, much to his ire. It was his fault that the king had fallen in the first place and until he could prove himself worthy he would not be taking the mantel he had been primed for since he was a child.

No, he would do everything in his power to protect his master's only treasure, it was his duty and he would be damned if he failed him again. When the time was right he would take his place as king, until then he would be her knight and help guide her on her new path.

Kagome could only nod, her hands twisting in the sleeves of her miko robes. "O-okay. Just let me grab a bag." She didn't know what was going on just that her gut was telling her that it would be a long time before she was able to return home and if her father had taught her anything it was to always listen to your gut.

Kagome glanced again at Tomura and knew that she should hurry, from how he was acting something was definitely up. She quickly made her way inside the house and to her room, grabbing her yellow bookbag. She emptied it out of her normal belongings and started to put some clothes in there, but she mainly put personal items. Things that she knew she wouldn't want to leave behind, pictures, trinkets...gifts from her father.

In her gut, she had a feeling she wouldn't be back in a long time, and her things may not be here by then. She made sure to pack all the things she couldn't do without. She went to some of the other rooms and got items until the bag was almost full. Sighing Kagome quickly changed out of her Miko garb, putting on jeans and a simple tshirt before stuffing the miko garb on the top of the bag and closing it.

Taking one last look around Kagome left the house and walked to where Tomura was standing still. Kagome could almost feel the anxiety coming off the man.

"I'm ready." She whispered as she stopped right in front of him, a weary smile on her face.

Tomura nodded, scratching his neck as he gave a soft call into the darkness, "Kurogiri...take us to master." Then the two were engulfed in a dark portal and Kagome could only take a deep breath as she was transported away from the only home she had only known.
