Behind Blue Eyes
Chapter I
Naruto was sitting in his usual seat in the Konoha Ninja Academy wearing his new gear. In the academy he wore an orange jumpsuit which was good for a student and taught him how to hide even when wearing something so eye-catching. But now he was a full fledged shinobi so with that he got new gear. A two piece bodysuit, burnt orange jacket sleeves pushed up and his hitai-ate tied around his left arm, black closed toed martial arts shoes, and a golden claw on his right fore-arm.
Naruto sighed as he felt two chakra signatures coming fast he already knew who they were Yamanaka Ino and Haruno Sakura, two of his classes kunoichi with a delusional obsession that they are the soul mate of one Uchiha Sasuke. Now Naruto didn't hate Sasuke quite the opposite really, the two were close friends, they understood one another but seriously Sasuke was already secretly dating someone.
Now Naruto was smart he knew exactly who Sasuke was dating but he pretended to be the oblivious false crush of Sasuke's girlfriend Hinata. Hinata was shy and timid in public, but when alone she was fierce and very strong willed. In fact it was Hinata who suggested that she pretend to have a crush on Naruto. Was it right to make others think they had a chance at Sasuke's heat? Maybe not. Was it hilarious as all hell? You better believe it.
Naruto was the king of pranks and to him this was just one big prank on the whole female population of his class. Now there was another girl not blindly infatuated with Sasuke and that was a girl named Tenten but she had a crush on another boy in their class one Hyuga Neji. Neji was quiet, calculated, and hid his emotions well but that didn't stop those who weren't infatuated with Sasuke to have a crush on him.
"I Win!" came the shout of both Ino and Sakura as they both tried to squeeze through the door.
"As if forehead, my foot was through the door first." Ino protested.
"Please my toe was at least a half centimeter in front of yours." Sakura challenged.
"Here we go again." Naruto muttered under his breath.
"Move it Naruto, I'm sitting next to Sasuke." Sakura demanded.
"No way forehead I'm sitting next to Sasuke." Ino challenged.
XxX In the Hokage's OfficeXxX
"So that's Naruto?" asked one Sarutobi Asuma.
"Yes he's a clanless orphan, he was the one Minato sealed the Kyubi in. No one knows who his family is." Hiruzen replied. "The only thing we know about him is that Jiraiya adopted him."
Jiraiya was one of Konoha's most prestigious shinobi having the title of Sannin alongside Orochimaru and Tsunade.
"He looks familiar, it's hard to place from where though." Kurenai said.
"Now that you mention it he does look rather familiar. That hair reminds me of Minato." Gai said loudly.
"Minato never produced a child he was killed during the Kyubi attack along with his wife and infant son." Hiruzen said.
It was a lie of course. Naruto was Minato's son but no one knew that as it was believed Minato's son died the night of the Kyubi attack.
"Now let's go over your teams…" Hiruzen said changing the subject.
XxXClass 1-AXxX
"Team Seven will be Uchiha Sasuke, Haruno Sakura, and Inuzuka Kiba. Your Jonin Squad Leader is Hatake Kakashi. Team Eight is Hyuga Hinata, Rock Lee, and Tenten. Your Jonin Squad Leader is Maito Gai. Team Nine is Hyuga Neji, Himura Azrael, and Naruto. Your Jonin Squad leader is Sarutobi Asuma. Lastly, Team Ten is Nara Shikamaru, Yamanaka Ino, and Akimichi Choji. Your Jonin Squad Leader is Yuhi Kurenai." Umimo Iruka called out finishing the team rosters.
Naruto was glad for his team as he had Neji who was strong in the Hyuga arts as well as the other ninja arts of Konoha, Azrael who was unrivaled in their class when it came to kenjutsu, and then there was himself who used in'yoton and combat seals. Yes team eight would be a force to be reckoned with when properly trained.
"You are all dismissed until one o'clock when you will return back here to meet you Jonin Squad Leaders." Iruka said and left the classroom.
Naruto rose from his seat and left the academy all together. He had roughly two hours before he had to be back at the academy, so he may as well make the most of it. Naruto went to the market and bought a fish, some rice, and spring vegetables before going home to make himself some lunch.
While Naruto wasn't the most popular person because of the Kyubi sealed inside of him it was known to everyone that he was Jiraiya's adopted son, and no one dared incur the wrath of a sannin. Naruto lived alone in a rather average apartment in the heart of the village as Jiraiya was rarely in the village but he still had ways of knowing when Naruto was in trouble.
Naruto arrived at his apartment only to smell something cooking in the kitchen.
"Tou-san, is that you?" Naruto asked loudly.
"You betcha Naruto." came Jiraiya's voice from the kitchen. "Figured I should at least be here for one of your biggest days as a young shinobi."
"It's good to see you Tou-san." Naruto said to Jiraiya.
"So who's all on your team?" Jiraiya asked.
"Hyuga Neji and Himura Azrael." Naruto replied.
"Sounds like you got a good fit. All three of you are close quarters combatants. Who is your Squad Leader?" Jiraiya questioned.
"Sarutobi Asuma." Naruto answered.
"Be sure you live up to being the Son of a Sannin Naruto. I know you'd rather earn your own fame but still people know you're my son so they will expect you to be top tier." Jiraiya said.
"I know Tou-san. Don't worry I'll live up to the title." Naruto said with a bright smile.
"Now eat up." Jiraiya ordered as he set a plate of food before Naruto.
A/N: Hey all Azrael here with a new story. This is a story I had in mind for a while. Yes there is an OC in it but my OC wont steal the spotlight this is still a Naruto fanfic with Naruto as the main character. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the story.
