Otis

'What do you think I should have done?' Mum asks, breaking the silence that had consumed the room since Jakob and Ola had walked out. I pause for a minute.

'Honestly Mum, I don't know' I reply. 'It's not for me to say. You could have told them though. That's all I'll say. Now you've gotta figure out how to navigate your relationship with Jakob and how it'll impact Joy.'

'Yes, that I do' Mum replies. As if on cue, Jakob skulks awkwardly into the room.

'I'll be outside' I say. I see them nod at each other as I leave, and they start talking. Oh, to be a fly on the wall for that conversation. I come out into the reception area expecting to see Ola but she's not there.

With nothing else to do, I decide to finally finish updating Maeve on what's been going on. I text her a summary of everything finishing up with the message 'Everything seems to be settling now, how was your flight?' I go to put my phone away, but I get a message from Eric. It reads 'With Adam, have a good feeling this time, hope everything's okay.' I give him the all clear and tell him to enjoy his time with the former bully. It occurs to me that during all of the commotion, I appear to have lost Dad. I look up and quickly notice him chatting to a male nurse by the desk. I come up behind him. '… and that's how you can give better oral sex to your partner.' I hear him say.

'Dad' I say, a disapproving scowl on my face. He turns around and smiles cheekily.

'What?' he says. 'I'm literally doing my job.'

'Could you not do it here? We're in a hospital' I say starting to laugh.

'I'll try' he says laughing too. 'How's your mother and Jakob and everything?'

'It's being sorted' I say. 'I'm confident they'll reach a compromise and agreement.'

'That's the main thing' he replies. 'What a family we've made for ourselves eh? Never a dull day.'

'You can say that again' I say. 'It really never is a dull day. I just wish Maeve was here.'

'She will be soon' he says. 'You'll be here to welcome her back when she returns.'

As I envisage welcoming Maeve back to Moordale, everything seems that little bit better. Maybe things will actually work out for everyone after all.

Maeve

My worry is soon alleviated by the final message that Otis sent. I tell him that I've landed safely and that I'll text him when I'm out of the airport. I navigate through JFK with the help of Charlie and make it out and head to the coach that will take us to where we're staying. While we wait, I introduce and familiarise myself with some of my peers on the course. They don't all seem like dicks so that's a plus. Eventually the coach is filled, and we head off venturing into New York. As we drive, I see the skyscrapers of Manhattan in the distance. As I take pictures and send them to Otis and Aimee, it hits me just how far away from home I really am. But I deserve to be here. I'm ready to prove myself, as I have all my life. I'm just getting started.

A/N: It's finally finished, just in time for season 4 to come out. I appreciate everyone who's taken the time to read this story. As season 4 comes to a natural end, I won't be writing another Sex Education story, I'll be moving onto other projects and reviving old discontinued ones.

Thank you all,

Mikey
