A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 3 Chapter 2
The small victory achieved by getting Uncle Vernon to agree to sign the permission slip for Hogsmeade visits is short-lived.
Bailey would rather face the Basilisk and Tom Riddle again in the Chamber of Secrets than live with the despicable Aunt Marge and her abhorrent bulldog Ripper for a long and miserable week.
Bailey is envious of Hedwig at this point. Hedwig had departed that morning with Errol and the Hogwarts owl as soon as he was told the news. She'd have to make herself scarce for the entire week, spending it with either Ron or Hermione. Hedwig does so reluctantly, not wanting to leave him for too long. At least Hedwig has an escape with flight, but Bailey finds she's inadequate for this as she is missing the crucial wings in order to take to the air good and proper.
Afterward Aunt Petunia had called him down wanting to do some hasty last minute cleaning for their guest.
As if keeping the house immaculate for Aunt Marge's visit isn't challenging enough in this trial. Bailey suspects that Ripper will be messing up the place anyhow so it's a waste of time in Bailey's opinion. But it's best not to give Aunt Marge an excuse to start to nitpick and criticize him immediately when she comes in through the front door.
Harry is giving Bailey's fur one last brushing when there was a crunch of gravel outside as Uncle Vernon's car pulled back into the driveway with the hated passengers.
Upon Aunt Petunia's urging Harry opens the door with a great gloom in his stomach while Bailey is lying hers on the staircase. She doesn't want to be in the range of Ripper's disagreeable behavior just yet. This way it'll be harder for him to get to her on those stubby legs.
Stomping inside, brandishing her suitcase and umbrella with Ripper at her feet, Aunt Marge roared "Where's my Dudders? Where's my neffy-poo?"
Harry almost has the wind knocked out of him when Aunt Marge thrusts the suitcase and umbrella into his stomach, knees buckling slightly under the weight.
Dudley doesn't really pay Aunt Marge any mind not averting his eyes from the television screen as she places a large kiss on his cheek.
Ripper went over to Aunt Petunia jumping on her legs and snarling. Aunt Petunia giggles nervously with a smile that doesn't reach her eyes. Aunt Petunia hated animals and only really tolerated Bailey for as long as she had because she was fearful about the impression it would leave on the neighbors and what they would think about it.
Smiling jovially as he shut the door, Uncle Vernon said "Tea, Marge? And what will Ripper take?"
"Ripper can have some tea out of my saucer," said Aunt Marge.
Harry is left alone in the hallway with the suitcase as the abominable family of four congregate in the kitchen.
Neither Harry nor Bailey is complaining about this. Bailey blocks the top of the staircase, guarding Harry as he brings the suitcase into the guest room.
By the time the duo returned to the kitchen Aunt Marge was helping herself to plenty of tea and fruitcake and Ripper was lapping tea noisily in the corner.
Ripper spots them first and growls, announcing their arrival.
Bailey returns the growl with a low one of her own.
Scornfully, Aunt Marge said "So! Still here, are you?"
"Yes," said Harry.
"Don't say 'yes in that ungrateful tone," sneered Aunt Marge. "It's damn good of Vernon and Petunia to keep you. Wouldn't have done it myself. You'd have gone straight to an orphanage if you'd been dumped on my doorstep."
Something tells Bailey that Harry might've been treated better at an orphanage than anywhere with these people.
With the trip to Hogsmeade on his mind Harry wisely holds his tongue on the matter, but Bailey has no such inhibitions. She woofs, rolls her eyes, and curls around his feet placing her head over them.
Clenching her jaw, Aunt Marge said "I see you, also, still that dratted retriever. Trash compared to my blue-blooded bulldogs."
"Couldn't agree more, Marge," said Uncle Vernon, raising his teacup in a small toast to that.
Bailey doesn't even dignify that with a response. No more than a contemptuous sniff.
Pointing at the smirk on Harry's face, Aunt Marge said "Don't you smirk at me. I can see you haven't improved since I last saw you. I hoped the school would knock some manners into you. Where is that you send him, again, Vernon?"
Promptly, Uncle Vernon said "St. Brutus's. It's a first-rate institution for hopeless cases."
Bailey takes offense to that on her boy's behalf.
"I see," said Aunt Marge, approvingly. "Do they use the cane at St. Brutus's, boy?"
"Uh..," said Harry, glancing at Uncle Vernon uncertainly.
Uncle Vernon nods curtly behind Aunt Marge's back.
Nodding earnestly, Harry said "Yes. All the time."
"Excellent," said Aunt Marge. "I won't have this nonsense about not hitting people who deserve it. A good thrashing is what's needed in 99 cases out of 100. Have you been beaten often?"
Over Bailey's dead body.
Fighting a grin, not very convincing, Harry said "Oh, yeah, loads of times."
Narrowing her eyes, Aunt Marge said "I don't like your tone, boy. If you can speak of your beatings in that casual way, they clearly aren't hitting you hard enough. Petunia, I'd write if I were you. Make it clear that you approve the use of extreme force in this boy's case."
Barely in the house half an hour and already Bailey wished she'd turn around and go back home.
Better yet step in front of a bus.
Bailey glares hatefully at Aunt Marge, lip ticking over her teeth in agitation.
Uncle Vernon changes the subject, drawing the conversation away from Harry.
Harry patiently waits for a gap in the conversation where he can slip away with Bailey, maybe for a small walk around the block, but Aunt Marge seems determined to keep him in view so she can belittle him as much as humanly possible. Harry attempts to take his mind away somewhere else by imagining what visiting Hogsmeade is going to be like with his classmates. Bailey does the same, but her thoughts are with her offspring and mate.
Aunt Marge simply can't help herself. Unable to resist crossing lines she should very well leave alone.
Motioning toward Harry with her fork, Aunt Marge said "You mustn't blame yourself for the way the boy's turned out, Vernon. If there's something rotten on the inside, there's nothing anyone can do about it. It's one of the basic rules of breeding. I see it all the time with dogs. If there's something wrong with the bitch, there'll be something wrong with the pup."
Bailey's not tolerating that.
Leaping to her feet Bailey barks harshly at Aunt Marge. The suddenness of this causes Aunt Marge to spill her tea.
"Marge," squealed Aunt Petunia. "Marge, are you all right?"
"Not to worry," grunted Aunt Marge, whipping her hands off with a napkin.
A hand on her harness, pressing his face against her head as he rubbed her neck soothingly, Harry murmured "Bailey, calm down."
Bailey complies, slowly lowering back onto her stomach on the opposite side of Aunt Marge.
Ripper would've retaliated except he was preoccupied with his food. With this one his stomach rules more.
"This is exactly what I mean. It's obvious the boy hasn't trained this dog properly. It's a miracle the school he goes to even allows him to bring the mutt," said Aunt Marge.
Uncle Vernon dismisses them before anything else can happen.
Over the next 7 days the depressing weather outside seems to reflect somehow the gloomy mood Harry and Bailey now find themselves entrapped in. It's been raining with cloudy skies on and off since Aunt Marge came here.
Harry and Bailey are walking on eggshells. Avoiding Aunt Marge and staying out of trouble as much as possible after such a close call.
Ripper especially was problematic for Bailey. The bulldog would try to follow her around and bark incessantly which gives her plenty of headaches. He tested her patience plenty of times. The only consolation about him not coming with them outside is that Aunt Marge babies him so much and doesn't want anything to happen to her prized Ripper.
Finally, the last day of the visit came, and Harry and Bailey could feel their stress leave them as Aunt Marge's departure counted down to the clock.
And then disaster strikes.
During dinner Aunt Marge jumps into badmouthing Harry and his parent's bloodline after Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia wouldn't let him vacate the room. She then makes a passing comment about how when pups are born that generally don't have good genetic properties, she has them drowned. That makes Bailey furious because that's close to what would've happened to her children last year if they hadn't been rescued and brought to the Burrow. Bailey's protective maternal nature bubbles to the surface, but before she can make the mistake of giving Aunt Marge some well-deserved payback it's Harry who snaps. Aunt Marge calls his father a lazy and unemployed wastrel and that's where Harry can't hold back anymore.
Harry's infuriated rage is so potent that he loses control over his magic. Instead of making objects around them explode Aunt Marge turns out to be the recipient as the focus.
In the middle of her hate-filled rant Aunt Marge suddenly stopped speaking. She seemed to be swelling with inexpressible anger, but the swelling didn't stop. Her great bloated red face started to expand, her tiny eyes bulged, and her mouth stretched too tightly for speech. Several buttons burst from her tweed jacket and pinged off the walls. She was inflating like a monstrous balloon, her stomach bursting free of her tweed waistband. All of her fingers are blowing up bigger than a salami. Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and Dudley all shove away from the table as Aunt Marge's body rises off her chair toward the ceiling her body shaping like a balloon one would see at a carnival.
Uncle Vernon seizes one of Aunt Marge's feet, struggling to pull her down again, acting as an anchor. He nearly got lifted from the ground himself. A second later, Ripper leaped forward and sank his teeth into Uncle Vernon's leg.
No way Harry and Bailey are foolishly sticking around after this.
Harry and Bailey tore from the dining room, sprinting for the cupboard under the stairs. Without either one having to touch it the cupboard door magically sprang open. Bailey heaves the trunk backward to the front door while he runs upstairs to gather the remainder of his belongings that are hidden underneath the bed and Hedwig's cage. The moment he dashes back downstairs Uncle Vernon comes out of the dining room.
"Come back in here," he bellowed. "Come back and put her to right!"
Kicking the trunk door open, pulling out his wand, and pointing it in warning at Uncle Vernon, Harry said "She deserved it! She deserved what she got. You keep away from me."
Bailey turns the latch on the door with her teeth and nudges it open after she turns the knob.
"I'm going," said Harry, eyes blazing with barely suppressed fury. "I've had enough."
That makes two of them.
Not once looking back Harry and Bailey depart into the night.

For those of you on fanfiction I'm sure you've been facing the many unwanted ads when you're reading a story. Well, yesterday, I finally had enough, and I got an adblocker app. It worked! No more ads on any level! The one I got is Adblock Pro: Safari Ad Blocker. It really works. Just follow the instruction video that it attached to it.
Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early a couple of months ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.
When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in some way. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.
Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.
Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads if it is sent to you. But when it does you should definitely pressing the report abuse button and send it to the email that leads to the support staff that is available.
Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.
I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D
For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.
Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.
So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.
I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
