Bridgette sighed softly and tiredly as she was finally left alone to rest.
Resting was not easy for her, not often.
She had always been restless yet sleepy since she could remember. She just hid it very well. Most nights she slept perhaps a good four or five hours of fitful sleep and perhaps a couple minutes here and there of somewhat restful sleep. It had never made sense to Bridgette how some people could so easily complain about lacking sleep when they got only perhaps an hour short of 10 or more hours of sleep one night. She craved sleep a lot at this point in her life, but for some reason times that Felix has tired her out physically not withstanding she can't sleep well for more than an average total of an hour throughout intervals during the night.
"Bridgette?" A male voice whispered to her from the bed next to her.
Bridgette turned her head to see a drowsy Felix smiling at her.
"Yeah, Felix?" She responded just as quietly.
"Come over here." He said patting the space he had opened up next to him.
The effect Felix had on her was unexpected, but just sleeping beside him was enough for her to sleep a bit better than she usually did. So Bridgette smiled happily and nodded carefully getting up from the reclining chair she was allowed to use to spend the night in the hospital with him and then she headed to lay down next to him carefully. When she was done he hugged her from behind carefully and she started feeling drowsy.
"I love you, Bridge." Felix said drowsily.
Bridgette smiled, "I love you too, Felix."
| Three Months Later |
Felix shifted his weight anxiously as he stood outside the door to Bridgette's bedroom.
Their second year of high school was going to end in just one month, and they have been in a real relationship for three months now. Fake dating for months before his kidnapping and their confessions. A good two weeks in the hospital had been enough for them to recover enough to go home and the rest of the last three months have been the best three months of his life. Hopefully the best of hers too. Now he was ready to ask something he had never once thought he would ever do.
He was going to give her a ring.
Don't get ahead of yourselves! You nasties... He was going to offer her a promise ring.
Engagement ring could wait until they were older and ready for such a thing. The reason he decided on a promise ring now was that they were already closer than they had either expected and their feelings had only been growing since they met. He could feel they were right for each other, and that was enough for him. He hoped that was enough for her to accept the money he put into this, despite her always rejecting his interest in buying her and spending a lot of money on expensive things or gestures.
He was especially proud of what he planned for today and had even gotten permission from Gabriel Agreste, Sabine Cheng, Tom Dupain, Adrien Agreste, and even Marinette Dupain-Cheng to do this.
So he knocked.
It took a minute or two but the door opened to reveal Bridgette looking more beautiful than he had ever seen her.
"Felix?" Bridgette said in slight surprise, shifting her shorter strands out of her face before letting him in, "What are you doing here?"
Felix smiled and gently grabbed her hand tugging her away from her bedroom gently.
She smiled in slight confusion, "Felix?"
He smiled at her, "I came to get you for a surprise date, is that bad?"
Bridgette smiled happily as she broke away from him briefly to grab a soft grey open sweater, "It's a good thing, I've just never been very good with surprises."
Felix laughed lightly as he once again more calmly held her hand into his own.
As they walked in peaceful silence out of the home, people bustling through the city streets were awed and touched at the sweetness of the young couple. The boy was very handsome wearing a simple but sophisticated sweater (sleeves rolled up), a vest, and a pair of jeans matched with black sneakers. Bridgette was wearing a simple open grey sweater and a tank top, with the sleeves mostly covering her hands. On the bottom she wore leggings that were high-waisted and reached down to mid thigh, on her feet were cute boots. Her shirt covered her breasts completely and was loose-fitting, reaching down her thighs.
Both of their smiles almost intoxicating.
"So you borrowed those shoes from Adrien then?" Bridgette asked amusedly.
Felix laughed in response, "Yeah... I need to buy different kinds of shoes for more casual occasions."
An elderly couple on a bench smiled pleasantly.
"Such a lovely couple don't you think dear?" The woman asked to her husband amusedly.
The husband chuckled fondly, "They remind me so much of us when we were that age."
[Picture on Wattpad only, story should be up now, sorry have been having a hard time copying and pasting everything and organizing the photos of the characters and such details]
The two teens laughed whole-heartedly as they stopped near the Trocadero.
"Why are we stopping?" Bridgette asked in slight confusion just as he quickly moved behind her and blindfolded her, "Also, why am I being blindfolded?"
In the nearby hiding spot designated to them, Adrien and Marinette beamed excitedly at Felix and signaled him they were ready.
"Because it's a surprise and if you see it before you're supposed to it won't be a surprise."
Bridgette sighed but laughed and shrugged in understanding anyway.
"Fair enough, I guess."
Felix laughed lightly and assured her before gently leading her carefully to the spot for his surprise. He signaled everyone and they all got into start position. Marinette took her designated spot with Luka and Kitty Section in front of the microphone, Andre nearby started serving ice cream to the couples and dates present. Nathaniel and Chloe stood readily by their respective pull cord for their covered back drops, Kim was trying to grumble as Alix shoved him into holding the pull cord for the crates of air-filled balloons to open, and then proceeded to hold open her smile after reminding Kim of the reason he was being forced to happily do this. Max and Sabrina were awkwardly ready with the cake in Max's hands and answer-sign in Sabrina's hands. By the table of food were Tom, Sabine, Arthur, Gabriel, and Nathalie and behind Marinette but in front of Kitty Section were Cassidy, Wendy, and Jessica.
Felix smiled awkwardly as he turned to her.
"Okay, are you ready?" Felix asked.
Bridgette's smile was bright yet amused as she answered, "As I'll ever be. What's with all the mystery?"
Marc was happily amused as he wrote down the entirety of the events from the moment they entered the area Felix had reserved and prepared for this surprise.
As soon as the blindfold was removed. Bridgette was rendered speechless as she turned to look around them in amazed shock before turning to him, making him smile awkwardly.
"W-What is all this? H-How did you... What?" She managed to squeeze out as she once again took in the sights before her.
"Before you say anything, Bridgette... I just want you to listen to me and to something special." Felix asked of her awkwardly but happily.
Bridgette looked hesitant but relented pleasantly and let him guide her to get an ice cream from Andre for them.
Their ice cream was beautiful.
"Blueberry for her...Mint for him... and chocolate chip for their distinct personalities. Enjoy!" Andre declared.
Bridgette smiled kindly along with Felix, "Thank you, Andre."
Andre nodded and the two teens headed back to their spot.
"Bridgette, there's something I haven't really shared with anyone before, not even you..." Felix began awkwardly, "A long time ago, when I was perhaps nine or ten Adrien, our mothers, and myself all went to a park. There we met two identical girls around our age and we all played together. I was incredibly rude and mean to the more mature of the two, but looking back on my feelings of her, I liked her quite a bit. I was conflicted for some time about it all. Because after that day for about a month, Adrien and I would have playdates with those little girls but one day the playdates suddenly stopped, no words of explanation, nothing... It was hard for me, because despite my mean disposition to them, I did care for them. I just was never very good at understanding my own feelings or dealing with them very well. I closed off even more than ever before after that. The last words she ever said to me weighed heavily in my mind for years. So imagine my surprise when I met you. You had her eyes, and then you said those words to me. I never made the connection until recently, but once I did I realized something incredibly important." Felix said awkwardly.
Everyone watching was amazed at the story and Marinette looked pensive along with Adrien as they tried to think back.
Bridgette?
Bridgette was already looking closely into his eyes pensively as he had been speaking and now was gazing at him with wide eyes.
"I... I can't believe this... when did you...?" Bridgette managed to answer.
Felix smiled at her, "You said her words again. You asked me if I trusted you. It was the same way and the same look at the time recently as all of those years ago."
Bridgette smiled in pleasant surprise as she connected the dots at last.
"Of course, I once told you before that if you kept scowling you would scare yourself... Your eyes haven't changed at all and neither had your prickly attitude, how did I ever miss it?" Bridgette said in fond disbelief.
Felix laughed lightly, "We're both kind of idiots. Nowhere near as bad as Adrien and Marinette or Alix and Kim..." Felix said.
"HEY!" Exclaimed the briefly affronted cousins.
Bridgette and Felix laughed lightly before Felix continued, "But still kind of idiots nonetheless."
Bridgette's smiled brightened as he continued on.
"Honestly, when I realized how long I had known you, I was so conflicted. I couldn't believe it at first, but with your actions and your words, soon enough there was no doubt in my mind, Bree. So today I wanted to tell you that and I wanted to tell and show you how much you mean to me..." Felix explained.
Bridgette was slightly confused until music started playing, and she recognized the song almost immediately.
"This song..." Bridgette said fondly as she gazed at her best friends in knowing.
They simply smiled as Marinette began singing the lyrics pretty well.
Bridgette was happy as she listened attentively. Felix smiled at her reaction.
"I always loved this song. I never understood why. I would act like I hated it whenever others were around, but my mother knew. She would purposefully play it whenever she was blasting music around the house from TFA." Felix revealed fondly.
Bridgette was amazed, "I don't even remember why I wrote it or when. But it was the very first song I had ever written and when the girls and I made The Fallen Angels, I felt drawn to it when selecting the songs to make for our first album."
Felix smiled as he turned her attention to him completely and got pulled out a small box.
As he held it out to her, Bridgette was surprised when he opened it to reveal a ring.
"Before you freak out, Bree, this is not an engagement ring, not unless you wanted it to be which I doubt. It's a promise ring." Felix explained.
Bridgette looked at him with slight confusion and he explained with a smile once the song ended.
"Bridgette, I first met you so long ago and then I lost you for some time. When you suddenly disappeared it hit me hard. Until I realized you had come back into my life I believed that caring for anyone would only ever make them leave so I never tried to care. When I met you for the second time I suddenly found myself doing things I hadn't done in years. One of which was actually showing I care. It wasn't easy for me to do, but whenever you showed me that smile of yours I would lose so much time and I would find my heart racing or skipping a beat... It was something completely unexpected but pleasant. Very pleasant, actually." Felix continued.
Bridgette was slightly blushing at this as everyone watched them in awe and amazement.
"Then, I was kidnapped..." Felix said his smile saddening only the slightest bit, "When I suddenly found myself in a cage in some abandoned place, I realized that I was alone. For the first time since my mother had been killed, I felt trapped and completely alone. It was awful, but it made me realize that without you or my uncle or Adrien... I am alone. Then I realized... Bridgette also doesn't have her parents in her life, and for some years she lived over in America away from the people that most cared about her, was this what she felt like? Of course, immediately I connected that maybe you did until you befriended Jessica, Cassidy, and Wendy." Felix explained.
Bridgette nodded with a bittersweet smile.
"Then I thought to myself about our time together. You had been with me since the moment we met. Both of the times we met, too. Which led me to think about what I would be like without your influence. It was sobering to think about that, but I needed it. Because the truth is, I would have been much different than I am today if it hadn't have been for your influence in my life. I could never live without your influence in my life anymore. Without you, well... I don't ever want to even think about that kind of torture. So I wanted to ask you for something today." Felix continued.
Bridgette gasped as he held her free hand in his free hand and led her closer to the signs being held by their classmates.
She then read what was written on the card by Alix at his instruction.
"This says... 'Bridgette Dubost-Cheng, will you make a promise with me for us to eventually get married?' Felix..." Bridgette said before he turned her attention to the answers sign that Sabrina was holding.
Yes or No.
Bridgette turned to him in surprise and she was silent for a few moments before nodding ever so slightly with a smile. Felix was pleasantly shocked. Bridgette smiled brightly.
"Yes, Felix. I promise." Bridgette answered.
Alix, who had put down her sign, offered Bridgette the marker to heck the box on Sabrina's sign and Bridgette gracefully and happily checked the box labeled for yes.
Felix beamed as he put the ring on her and promptly pulled her into a loving hug.
Even Kim was touched by the scene as he pulled his cord on cue. Like this a special celebration began for the rest of the morning. With Felix unveiling two beautiful requested items, Kitty Section and TFA singing a couple songs, and Gabriel and Nathalie revealing they had managed to finally recover every single bit of her fortune for her.
In all truth, as the night ended with Adrien and Marinette also becoming a couple (at last!), Felix and Bridgette could not have ever wished for a better day.
