"I Don't Even Know You"

(Part 3)

After informing Dr. Melvin about Cam's whereabouts and his actual relationship with Trina, Spencer, Joss, and TJ waited to hear how they should proceed.

"I would advise talking with her about what she does remember, in a non-intimidating way. This will at least get her to start using her memory muscles, which will hopefully help with reversing the amnesia. Try paying attention to what stands out most for her. And Mr. Cassadine, I know that this next part might be difficult for you to hear, but I really think that it's necessary for Miss Robinson's progress," Dr. Melvin stated.

Spencer's brow furrowed, as he readied himself for whatever emotional blow the doctor was about to deliver.

"You should play a background role in all of this. Let those who she, Trina 2020-if you will, knows and trusts be the ones who establish this contact with her."

"Are you telling me to stay away from her?" Spencer asked curtly. "Because if you are, I can't do it. It took us far too long to get to where we are now, and I can't just let it all go. No, I can't. I won't!" Spencer's tone grew increasingly louder and more forceful.

TJ stepped in. "Spencer, it won't be forever. It will just be for a short time while Trina has time to reacquaint herself with life post-2020."

Dr. Melvin continued. "For today, I am recommending that Miss Robinson not have any more visitors, that includes her mother, who I'm going to contact personally. As colleagues, I owe her that. So, Miss Jacks, you can go in and say good-bye, and then Dr. Ashford and I will wrap up with her for the day."

"I'll be right out, Spencer," Joss said as she went back inside Trina's room. A crestfallen Spencer could only stand back and watch as the door closed.

"Joss, can you tell me what's going on?" Trina asked when Joss came in her room.

"The doctor is going to come back in and talk to you. I came in to say good-bye for today, but I'll be back bright and early tomorrow. Ok?" Joss replied.

"Ok. I guess I am getting a little tired. Maybe rest will do me some good. But tomorrow I want to see Cam and hear all about your new friend," Trina responded as she settled herself in her bed.

When Joss exited, TJ and Dr. Melvin entered Trina's room. Joss walked over to a solemn-looking Spencer and sat there beside him.

"Joss, she's got to come back to me. I can't lose her. Trina's the best thing that's ever happened to me and there's no way that I'm losing her," a determined Spencer responded.

"Of course, she will," Joss replied.

She noticed that a combination smile and grimace came on Spencer's face. "What's that look?" she asked.

"I was just realizing how happy Dr. Robinson will be to know that Trina remembers nothing about me. She'll think that Christmas has arrived a few months early," Spencer replied, as he let out a half-hearted laugh.

"Spencer, when the doctors feel that it's ok to bring you up in the conversation, please know that I am going to be reminding Trina and helping her to remember the strong bond that you two share," Joss replied, as she gave Spencer a hug.

"Thanks, Joss. I'm going to need someone on my side," Spencer replied as tears filled his eyes.

When Spencer got home that night, he spent time with Ace, but Esme could see that he was not acting much like himself. Ace always brought out the light-hearted and playful side of Spencer. While Ace was enjoying his time with his brother, Esme knew that something was different. As they got Ace ready for bed, Spencer was unusually extra quiet. When Ace was finally down, Esme asked, "Is something wrong? You seem off tonight."

"Off, that's one way to put it," Spencer said brusquely.

"Is there anything that I can do?" Esme asked innocently.

"No. There's nothing you or anyone else can do. Good night," Spencer said as he made his way to his room.

"For him to be that upset, this must have something to do with Trina. I just wonder what it could be," Esme thought to herself as she went to her room with just a slight gleam in her eye.

As Spencer laid on his bed, all of his thoughts were of Trina. He could picture all of their special times together and he hoped that maybe, soon, Trina would be able to, as well. That's when it hit him. He bolted straight up and started on his idea.

The next morning, Spencer came down the stairs in an apparent hurry, carrying what looked like a notebook or scrapbook. He was just about to leave when he heard Ace. When he went to check on him, Esme was struggling to settle him down.

"Give him to me, Esme. Has he eaten?" Spencer asked.

"Not yet. I was just about to..." Esme started.

"Go. I'll stay here with Ace," Spencer said, as Esme left. "It's not as if Trina's waiting to see me," he thought.

As Esme came out to start Ace's breakfast, she noticed the notebook on the table. Before looking at it, she made sure that Spencer was not on his way out. She went over and started looking through it, frowning with every page turn. When she got to the end, she was incensed-until she had an idea. But, she had to act quickly.

Just as she was finishing up, Spencer shouted out asking what was taking so long.

"I'm on my way right now," Esme replied happily as she headed toward her room while looking back at the notebook, with a slight smile on her face.
