Some Quick info before i do this oneshot.
Because i'm a anime watcher who has limited details on the novel, this oneshot takes place during the one year timeskip after arc 4.

The scene starts out as two pairs of feet walk on a dirt path.
It shows up to our two character we all know.
Emilia, The Half-Elf. And Subaru, The Knight of Emilia.
As of right now, they are walking down the path together, Emilia is caring a basket while Subaru holds another one.
A more closer glance can easily tell they are going for a outing or a date. And which.. Knowing Subaru, for some reason thought the knight uniform he had would be a very appealing wear for the Candidate.
"It's right around here." Subaru uttered as he stops, he points over to the woods where a small path can be seen. He knows it as he marked it.
"I hope this surprise of a date is truly inspiring." Emilia holds her hand onto her mouth and does a short giggle.
"Ahhh! EMT! Even such a small giggle from you is enough to make my heart flutter!" Subaru gets on one knee as he raises his arm up to the sky, his palm open and facing the sky.
"Subaru... you are so silly..." Emilia responds with. She begins to walk along with the path which causes Subaru to quickly get up and brush the dirt off his knees before tagging along.

After a few short minutes, They arrive at the spot Subaru wanted to go at.
To Emilia, this was a beautiful sight of the Roswaal Mansion and the surrounding forest. But... for Subaru, It's a time where he learned a Truth and paid the price in a different timeline.
Subaru gets a bit uncomfortable with the thoughts but rather he cheers up... His lady is here after all!
"Subaru... This view is amazing!" Emilia said, sightly jumping and clapping her hands like a child. As always, Emilia was truly pure hearted. Such a girl can repeatly heal the wounded mental heart that he has.
Subaru comes over to the edge before setting the basket down, and which, the White-haired Elf does her basket as well.
They start to bring out everything you would expect for a picnic. Just a bit more fancy, but it also had some outdoor stuff to it.
It reminds Subaru of the time he was back on Earth. Remembering how he would camp out with his father and mother.
Subaru chuckled to himself about a good memory he had of when his father went and dived into a river to catch a fish barehanded.
he misses them... but he is able to share his love with Emilia too.
He remembers something he wanted to do, which was doing a word carving thing into a tree. It's something he saw in movies and thought 'Hey? Why not?'
"Hold on Emilia, I wanna do-" Subaru was getting up, but he got up too fast and slipped, which. About to fail to his death, he catches the hand of Emilia.
"Subaru!" Emilia has enough strength to keep him by the hand, but it won't last long. His hand is already slipping.
"Emilia! Just hang in there! Ill be fine! Don't worry! I'm your knight aft-" Subaru's hand slipped, as he fails, he tries to catch onto something but his fingers simply slip off any rocks.
And so, he falls down the cliff. Emilia tried to use ice magic to resist the fall even by a bit but it didn't work, by the time she did it. He already hit impact.
Upon Impact, his bones broke in several different places. His limbs became dislocated and his skull and brain suffered massive bleeding. And to add the cherry on top, he was bleeding internally.
"SUBARU!" The White-hair elf's Voice cried out as she slowly uses ice to slow his fall.
Beatrice in the mansion felt immediately that Subaru just suffered a fatal injury due to their contract. And which, Beatrice spun into action by quickly barging the door opening and running as fast as she can.
Other Staff and Camp Members see this and their first thought is the boy.
Otto, Beatrice, Garf, Frederica, Ram and Petra. Hell, even Roswaal rushed over over, barging the door open as Beatrice leads the way to the location.
Back at the sight, Emilia is hugging the now slowly bleeding out Subaru.
"DONT LEAVE! PLEASE! NOT NOW!" Emilia yells as she cries, Even with such seriousness. Her pure heart is still healing over what happened in the Sanctuary. Now this? Why her?
Subaru has the strength to open his eyes and which Emilia catches notice. Using her fingers to swipe away the hair that was covering his eyes.
"L-Love... Y-You..." Subaru gave a weak smile to Emilia as slowly his life faded.
Beatrice catches wind of his very own consciousness fading... She HAS to get there.
But... by the time they get there, its already too late. Everyone with healing magic starts to heal Subaru. Other's who don't have healing magic, are praying, to whoever they would pray to in this moment.
"YOUR NOT LEAVING THIS WORLD, NATSUKI SUBARU!" Beatrice yelled out, tears were all over her eyes. Not even saying "I suppose" anymore. Not even saying "Contractor." This... was serious... too serious.. and.. to scary for her.
4... Long... Minutes...
He was dead, for 4 minutes... but..
Beatrice realizes he is coming back to life...? How? There was no heart beating or any sign of consciousness during those 4 long minutes that felt like hours, days, weeks, YEARS.
Subaru woke up, to the Emilia camp. Crying, tears for him.
Did I... Am I still alive? How am I alive? I just saw myself crossing the river... How am I alive?
That question would go Unanswered as the feeling of hugs from all around his body were overbearing. Beatrice, Emilia, Petra... Even Ram and Garf.
"I'm... Alive...?" Subaru said as his eyes opened, the first thing he saw was a crying Emilia looking back at him. Her tears, falling on his face.
"Don't.. leave.. you're not allowed to... stupid... don't... ever do that.. again." She had a hard time forming words after that, she was still sobbing.
Subaru sat up and only minor pain had crossed over his body. "Seems to be I'm fine."
Why was he... so calm?
However, They rather cried. They just almost lost Subaru... In such a way that could of easily be prevented...
Prevented... They could of prevented this.
They all shared a thought for a moment. all in different words but was really another sentence for this thought.
'If we can prevent it, then it wont happen ever again... That means, Subaru must not die. At ALL COSTS.'
Subaru's head slid back as his eyes closed. Going unconscious..
Waking up in his room in the Roswaal mansion.
The first thought in his mind was: "Dammit! My Dumbass slipped and traumatized Emilia after trying to do another date with her!"
Subaru was pretty pissed more about having his date failed then the fact he somehow escaped from the loving hands of death.
Sitting up, There is no one in the room as of right now.
"Could've at least one of you watch me?"
"I... did." The soft voice spoke.
Looking down the side, Subaru didn't realize the lovely child maid, Petra, was there.
"Ah... Sorry Petra. Say, what are the others doing right now?" Subaru wanted to see how everyone was doing. More like a conversation starter.
Petra paused for a second, as if she was deciding on what to do.
After a few seconds, Petra finally spoke.
"They are all doing very important things like cleaning or doing paperwork." Petra said.
Subaru had a thought it was a lie but he had a soft spot for children and was pretty weak to them. So he had no thought of it.
"Well then, Are you able to fetch me something to snack on? I guess having your body torn to shreds does make you hungry ehh?"
Petra remembers back to the nightmare of a scene of Subaru being brutally disfigured. Subaru didn't realize it, but his own limbs were bent back and forth. Which... was not a good scene to joke around... nor it was to help the poor child's memory.
"Y-Yeah... I guess so, Ill go get you something Subaru." Petra bowed before leaving the room.
Scene change to Petra as she walked down the spiral staircase into the kitchen.
The first to notice in Frederica. "Petra?"
"He's awake, He was also asking for a snack. I didn't really know what to do." Petra said as she tried to get the thought away of Subaru being in the painful state.
"I Understand, I'll cut up something and you can give it to him. Make sure to tell him to chew more before swallowing."
"Yah, We don't want Cap'n in such a... state. We also don't want him dying on us. But don't worry! You're big bro Garf will be here to help out around here." Garfeld tries to act all cool, having his thumb up his chest while saying such things.
Petra smiles as she waits for Natsuki Subaru's Food to finish.
Which, after a few minutes. It's done. It's meat soup with small chunks of meat that are tiny enough for a baby to eat without much problems.
Petra takes the Soup and comes back upstairs to Subaru rather quickly. This was due to his room being changed to a much easier spot for everyone to get to him as quick as possible. Which was planned while he was sleeping.
"Here you go Subaru." Subaru is given the tray with the bowl of meat soup. He question on the small bits, but before he goes to eat, Petra says something.
"Make sure to chew more before you swallow! You could choke." Petra says.
"Are you my mom? Geez Petra. I'm fine, don't worry." Subaru pats and rubs the head of Petra with a relaxed smile.
"Don't worry Petra. I'm okay. See? The super cool Hero is all better now."
Petra had a hard time believe this. Not too long ago, he was brutally dismembered and mutilated is such gory ways.
But, she decides to believe him... He's her hero after all.
But... Is that really the truth?
