This is set after the events of the 3rd game and contains spoilers to all the games and books.
It's the first winter for Ciri as a Witcher joining Geralt on the path, they decided to camp out at Kaer Morhen for the winter, Yennefer also decided to join them for part of the winter.
Geralt stood outside of Kaer Morhen trying to get his thoughts straight, It was already night. He could see all the stars as the first of winter's snow had already touched down. It felt weird the man who was a father figure to him, Vesimer was dead, his mentor, greeting him whenever Geralt came back from the path every winter for decades now gone.
"I miss him too sometimes think about him" Ciri's voice had said to him from his right
"Come on I have the fire started inside." She held onto Geralt's arm.
"He would have wanted us to move on." Geralt said depressingly.
The two head inside joining Yennefer still wearing all black clothes sitting at the bench waiting for them. Covering herself in a winter cloak made up of bear fur. Geralt sat to her left and across the table from her was Ciri.
"There's some food here, not a whole lot, but a lot of alcohol." she explained
"Witchers." She thought to herself.
"We will get some tomorrow morning." Geralt had said with his head looking down at the edge of the table, still thinking of Vesemir.
Geralt had got up and went into the pantry and grabbed three bottles of beer and walked back, giving both Ciri and Yennefer a beer and sitting back where he originally sat.
"Do you think Eskel and Lambert will join us?" Ciri asked.
"Doubt it. Lambert seems happy that Kiera and, Eskel went down south." Geralt explained. He looked right at Yennefer's violet eyes.
"Speaking of which, have you heard anything of Kiera and Lambert?" Geralt had asked.
"Not much other than their bond has gotten stronger." Yen answered.
"Good for them." Geralt added, "I guess this is a reunion of sorts... So how was it after I left you two on the isle of Avalon? "Ciri, a bit embarrassed and depressed, asked
"We want to hear from you first. I'm dying to hear what has happened to you" Yennefer added leaning right over to her.
"Ok, right after I left you two on the isle of Avalon I decided to bathe in a pond, I caught a man looking at me. It scared me at first but he was a nice person, I had told him what had happened. I left with him to this place called Camelot. I was interested in him at first but he had to keep his Chastity or something like that. By around that time I had decided I don't want to have anyone after me have this dreaded curse of elder blood so I ended things with him."
Ciri had looked as if salt was thrown into a fresh wound. Geralt wasn't sure if she had interest in him or not, she drunk part of her beer to get rid of the pain and continued.
"By that point the Wild Hunt started to come after me. It was very stressful that my hair had turned pure white as I didn't know where I was going and always being on the run. Not knowing anything." She stopped and took a breath and continued.
"While I was hopping through dimensions I ran into Avallac'h he helped me control some of my powers. Eventually we went to a world the wild hunt couldn't find us at. I already told Geralt what that world was."
"Yeah that world where you said people had metal in their heads and everyone had their own flying ship." Geralt added.
"Yup we had no idea where we were but what we heard was going on. Some man killed his father just to run a family business, it was called something like Arasaka and some person named V doing whatever in a place called Night City." Ciri added.
"I'm quite interested in this dimension." Yennefer had grinned looking right into Ciris eyes. Engaged at the idea of this mysterious world.
"It was too much and I thought the wild hunt had given up so we returned and you know the rest."
Ciri then asked. "So Yen what has happened to you?"
"You stopped calling me Mother?" Yennefer completely in shock.
"I thought it was too childish to continue using."
"Well you're still my daughter right?" Yennefer asked
"Yes." Ciri answered
"Then you can continue calling me mother." Yen added. Ciri looked satisfied with that answer.
"But I also want to hear what has happened to Geralt; he probably had the longest adventure to find us." Yennefer looked right at him, grinning. Geralt took a long chug finishing his beer.
"Alright but it's going to be long so I'm going to grab some more beer. Do you two need any more?" He asked.
"I do." Ciri answered
"You haven't finished yours." Yennefer proclaimed, Ciri then chugged it until there was nothing left.
"Now I have." Ciri grinned looking at Yennefer.
"Like father, like daughter." Yennefer burying her face in her hand.
Geralt can't help but chuckle a bit.
"Yen?"
"No, I'm good." Yen disappointingly answered waving him off.
As soon as Geralt left to go to the pantry Yen looked right at Ciri with some anger.
"Cirilla." Her jaw locked together.
"Mother." Ciri answered, calling Yennefer, mother felt natural to her, The alcohol was starting to get to her
"Last one got it." Yen vigorously replied.
"Fine." Ciri disappointed.
Geralt returned with two beers and gave one to Ciri.
"So what has happened to me?" Geralt looking right at Ciri then at Yennefer.
"After you dropped us off at the isle of Avalon. I woke up and asked Yen where you were. She told me you had left for another and are happy. Yen and I lost track of the time we spent in Avalon, all the injuries I had suffered were completely gone including my knee and back pains that had been with me forever. One day the wild hunt appeared, kidnapping Yen. I saw them burn down the island and our house to the ground. Once they had left I jumped through their portal not knowing where I was other than I was on the continent."
"What did the hunt wanted with Mother?" Ciri asked.
"To bait you out is my guess." Geralt drank from his beer, He continued.
"I had returned to life as a Witcher. I followed the hunt's trail, the hunt had kidnapped anyone between the ages of 10 to 20 about 23 of them to be exact, I don't know why. I ran into Letho a Witcher from the school of the viper with two other viper school witchers wanting to rebuild the school of the viper."
"You met Letho, he helped us at the battle of Kear Mohen."
"Explain him to me." Ciri asked.
"He's bald with scars on his head and is built like a bear without its fur."
"Now I remember him not really the talkative type."
"For good reason." Geralt added.
"Anyways the four of us ran into the hunt Yen in tow at Hanged man's tree and the other 23 people they have kidnapped. We killed a lot of the hunt's soldiers. Eventually I struck a deal with Eriden, My soul for Yennefer's freedom. He agreed, a twisted elf he is. As he wiped Yen and I's memory completely, I rode with Imlorith for a bit until I found myself in Kear Mohen not knowing anything. Even Triss couldn't do anything to help, couldn't help to regain my memory." Geralt looked with regret to tell Ciri he was with the hunt for a bit of time.
"Shall I continue?" He asked.
"I want to hear more." Ciri answered
"You know that hole in the wall outside." Geralt continued.
"Yeah?" Ciri said.
"That was from the Arzard Assassins led by a mage called the professor they went in killed an apprentice Vesemir had brought in named Leo an orphan of the war, and took the mutations we had for the trial of the grasses. The four of us, Eskel, Lambert, Vesemir, and myself went to the 4 corners of the world to find the mutations. I went to Visima when it was part of Temeria because I helped King Foltest with curing his daughter. The only reason I knew that was because Vesemir told me." Geralt took a drink from his beer depressed
"long story short I found myself in a political nightmare not too similar to what is happening in Novigrad right now but with a civil war going on. I found the professor and killed him. It turned out he wasn't the mastermind behind the attack, it was Arzard who was eventually killed."
"Then you got the mutations back right?" Ciri had asked
"Nope, the leader of the flaming rose had his hands on them, using them to create these disgusting things to kill non-humans. Foltest told me to go kill him and I did, the wild hunt appeared, taking him with them."
"Then what"
"I still haven't regained my memories yet but they slowly started to come back. I was on Foltest's council, it was not fun. Triss roped me into it, during one siege to get his children back, a blind monk had assassinated Foltest, the monk turned out to be Letho. I got blamed for killing Foltest, while I was in jail, I started to remember both of you, with Triss telling me details."
"I bet she left certain details out." Yennefer said,
"She did and admitted to manipulating me for some time without my memory."
"That bitch." Yen mumbled.
Geralt continued "I found Letho and put a stop to his killing spree of killing kings, by that point all my memory had returned he told me what he did with you and that you had also regained your memory, so I went out looking for six months following any trail I could find. I ran into Vesemir and he helped me, we got to White Orchard, and a nilfgaardian general who was stationed there told me he would tell me where Yen was if I killed a Griffin that had been harassing the village nearby, Vesemir and I slew it, the general told us Yen was a days ride away before we left we found, Yen with a nilfgaardian export, we went to Visima now controlled by nilfgaard and started our search for you, Ciri."
A feeling of sadness filled the room with silence. "That was quite the adventure." Yen added.
"Damn straight." Geralt finishing his beer.
"So Mother your side of the story." Ciri said drinking from her glass.
"Right after Geralt traded his soul for mine Letho took to Visima I had regained my memory quicker the Geralts, I kept getting into trouble in Visima and Letho had to bail me out, the emperor wanted to see me so I went and he locked me into a room, told me you were back on the continent."
"That bastard." Ciri interrupted crushing her teeth together angered at why the emperor threw someone she held dear locked in a room.
"Then I told the emperor I want to find Geralt and he let me, I thought it would be nice to bait him to me. I found him, I told him what leads I have found and started our search."
The room had gone quiet with sadness in the air. With shame and regret
"So Geralt" Ciri said to get Geralt's attention
"So why did you grow your beard out? I thought you always hated having a beard?" Ciri puzzled
"When I was looking for you and Yen I didn't have time to shave my beard. when I ran into Yen on Skellige she mentioned she liked it so I'm keeping it." Geralt explained stroking it.
"I like it too."
"Thank you."
Some time passed of the three of them talking. But there was still sadness in the air with a mix of regret and remorse. The only light source was the fire in the chimney of Kaer Morhen and the mood creeping through one of the windows.
"It's getting late I think it's time all of us go to bed" Yennefer yawned
"Agree." Geralt added.
As the three of them walked towards the stairs The keep felt dead without the presence of Vesemir quiet other than their footsteps hitting the floor as they walked and the wind howling outside. The three of them hugged each other and said their good nights to each other, Ciri walked to her room while Geralt and Yennefer walked to theirs.
The two of them got ready for bed, with Geralt stripping down to his underwear and Yennefer in a all black nightgown, Geralt laid in the side of the bed closest to the door and Yennefer right beside him with the covers over both of them lying on there backs, before he could close his eyes and sleep he can hear sniffing outside of his door, he knew it was Ciri.
"Ciri, what is it?" He called towards her.
Both he and Yennefer sat up in bed. Ciri cracked the door, only exposing part of herself. Geralt can see a part of her. Her hair was down, she had wiped off all the makeup she had on and was wearing nothing but a shirt and her underwear hugging herself..
"What's wrong?" Geralt asked.
Ciri ran right into Geralt's chest hugging him. It took him and Yennefer by surprise. Whatever emotions she had bottled up for the last 5 years of being on the run had exploded open. Geralt could smell the alcohol as she was a bit drunk, but he knew what she said was right from the heart
"The last five years without both of you were the hardest years of my life, please don't leave me! Please don't die again! I beg you!"
The dark day of Rivia flashed in her head seeing Geralt in a pool of his own blood and Yennefer begging him to get up trying whatever she can to save his life. She started sobbing, hard burying her face into Geralt's chest.
"There, there it's alright." Geralt trying to comfort her.
Ciri had her hands around Geralt's ribs, he was hugging her back with his right hand rubbing Ciris back. His other hand around Yen's hips. Yen was shoulder to shoulder with Geralt, leaning her head on top of his shoulder. Her left hand was hand combing Ciri's hair.
"There's something I would like to add," Geralt said.
"Before I met both of you too my life felt incomplete, I felt as if I was having an identity crisis, not knowing if the life of a Witcher was my calling."
He took a break and there was still silence, Ciri with tears running down her face and Yennefer trying to keep it together, they both looked at him and Geralt had started to choke.
"That was until both of you entered my life, I felt complete knowing now that I am someone. I will go to hell and back for both of you."
Geralt then started to shed a tear, something he thought was impossible to him now happened, him crying. Yennefer decided to explain her side
"I had always wanted to get pregnant and start a family of my own as a goal of my own, I have now realized that goal is no longer my goal. As now I have a beautiful family of my own." Yennefer now had started to cry
Geralt slid down the cover Ciri was on top of and threw it over her only exposing her head. The three of them finally together in the same room after 5 years not doing anything related to war or politics which felt like an eternity going through whatever life has sent their way, from almost dying in Rivia, forgetting everything besides their own name, to stopping the wild hunt and ending the white frost, To now a family reunited at last. Hoping for a better future for all three of them, doing whatever to their heart's content.
Ciri had cried herself to sleep on top of Geralt's chest. And Yennefer holding Geralt's arm hugging it facing right at him. She also fell asleep, Geralt moved until he was completely laying down. "Night you two, love you both." Geralt whispers with tears running down his face, not out of sadness but in happiness knowing he feels complete, two of the most important women in his life, Yennefer the woman he had a rocky relationship with for the last 30 years now at peace and Ciri, his child of surprise who had saved him and Yennefer from death once and gone through hardship to hardship, now all grown up but her love for her parents still remained. Ciri had started to talk in her sleep "My Family"
