Headmaster Hemlock neatly stacked the pile of blank files on his desk and looked out the window at the campus of Academy Park. The leaves on the trees were starting to brown and the Fletchling flew swiftly upon the crisp autumn air.

"Bun!" A Bunnelby dug up from The Circle, a patch of greenery in between the paved pathways to various buildings of the campus. The Bunnelby rushed to meet others of its kind before they all disappeared down the same hole.

"Headmaster?" one of the professors knocked on the door to his office. That dark afro that preceded the man who entered clued Headmaster Hemlock into who it was before he saw the professor's face. "Ah, Professor Spruce! Sorry for the delay, just basking in the last morning of quiet. The students arrive later this evening after all."

"That's actually what I wanted to talk to you about, Headmaster." Professor Spruce explained. "Maple, Hornbeam, Fir, Dogwood, and I have all been talking and…well don't you think we should hold off on opening for just a little bit? You must have seen the news."

Headmaster Hemlock frowned. "I have." He replied quite seriously. "It's a terrible shame, but I'd much rather open and give our students somewhere safe to return to than to stay closed and drive them somewhere unsafe."

"I guess we're just worried it might be seen as invitation to target our school. We aren't more than a day's drive away from Unova, so…"

"Professor Spruce, have some faith in your own skills. I would not have hired faculty who couldn't protect the students if it came to that." Hemlock stood up. "And if all else fails, I still have my own team from back in the day."

"Very well then." Professor Spruce sighed. "And you have the introductory speech prepared for orientation?"

"Of course." Headmaster Hemlock smiled. "The standard welcome to the world of pokemon generics, a little bit about the history of the Roqoi Region, how our Pokemon League is different from the others, and of course, the major rules of the academy. They'll hear it in full when I give the speech to them in the auditorium."

"Then I guess there's nothing left for the two of us to go over except the applications." Professor Spruce made himself comfortable in a separate chair. "Split the stack in half and we'll get it done faster. Then we can do the rounds in the forest and marsh and make sure no one's tried to sneak onto campus."

"A sound plan, I'd say." Headmaster Hemlock nodded. He cut the application stack in half, him taking the top, and Professor Spruce taking the bottom. "Oh, yes, this one would be a good fit."

"Oh dear…this one…" Professor Spruce frowned. "Why even apply to this school? We've made it clear that we're a pokemon-focused institution in our commercials, haven't we?"

"Of course, we have." Headmaster Hemlock rose a brow. "I looked over Professor Fir's finished product myself. Some people just don't listen it seems."

"Or read." Professor Spruce noted. "How can they expect us to accept them if they don't even fill out the form correctly?"

"Just keep looking through them." Headmaster Hemlock recommended. "The sooner you find a good one the sooner you'll feel better."

The two continued to work on applications throughout the morning, and by the time the afternoon rolled around, they had it, Academy Park's very first class of 20 students.

Meanwhile, in a misty cave somewhere in the Roqoi region…

"Heh." A grunt removed their chainmail helmet. "And no one spotted us."

"Good." A separate grunt removed a black cowl. "We can start operations almost immediately."

"We can, but first I need to make sure that this isn't about world domination like it was with you last time."

"Yeah, yeah, I get it. But it also better not be about classism under a veneer of liberation like it was with you last time."

"Of course not! We're both in agreement here. This is about washing everything away and starting over from scratch. We even got one of those native groups on our side. It's how I was able to get us in here so easily."

"Then let's do it. This third time incarnating Team Plasma will be the charm!"

As we at Academy Park assign students their partner pokemon, we will take your preferences into account, aiming to get you a preferred partner, only moving into neutral territory if your preferred partner list is exhausted. If there are only pokemon you refuse to have as a partner left to hand out, you have our condolences, but know that we tried, and perhaps you can give this pokemon a chance. You may find you like it!

The Roqoi Region is home to many pokemon that our students at Academy Park may choose from as their first partners. Keep in mind that each admitted class only has one of each pokemon to hand out, and while the class caps out at 20 students, we do not have the ability to issue repeats by Roqoi Law. Please put an 'O' next to any preferred partner pokemon, and an 'X' next to any pokemon you flat out refuse to take as a partner.

While this list is extensive, it is by no means all the evolutionary lines present in the Roqoi Region. If you do not have preferred pokemon but do have preferred types, feel free to put an 'A' next to any preferred types to start with and an 'X' next to any types you refuse to begin your journey with.
