U.S.S. Serenity NCC-1687

Buffy stepped out of the restroom in her quarters wearing a black sports bra and training pants after having one of the most needed sonic showers in a while. She took a few hits at the training bag that hung in her quarters when her personal comm chimed. She walked over to the wall and hit a control on the panel causing the screen to come to like and a shocked looking Christopher Pike was staring at her. "Captain Pike," she said flatly, "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"I'm sorry, if you weren't dressed you could have gone audio only."

Buffy shrugged, "Workout clothes. All the necessary bits covered. What can I do for you?"

Pike noted the scars that littered her torso including a nasty looking stab wound on her abdomen, "I'm sorry. We're in the Pinarth system; two members of my crew have gone missing. Normally we wouldn't have called you, but your… grandmother? Told us to call you after the ones that took them said something about a slayer."

Buffy's spine stiffened, "Pinarth system?" Pike nodded. "We're on our way, stick to surface scans until we get there. If you spot them beam them up immediately. No more visits to the surface until we arrive."

"Understood," Pike said, "Enterprise out."

Pike's face vanished and Buffy immediately called the bridge, "Summers to bridge, Send the escorts to the citadel and set course for the Pinarth system maximum warp."

"Aye sir," Lieutenant Zh'Rhitrith replied.

Buffy quickly changed into a new uniform and left her quarters heading for the bridge. As she was nearing the turbolift she saw her sister storming down the corridor at her, "What the hell Buff? I was in the middle of an experiment when my lab partner was called back to the rapture for an immediate departure." Buffy sighed, no matter how old her sister got she never seemed to lose the hint of obstinacy that was just part of her makeup. "Pike called. The Enterprise had two crew members kidnapped by people for something to do with the slayer."

"Oh shit," Dawn said, "No time to lose then." The sisters stepped into the turbolift and headed to the bridge. Once the doors closed and the lift started moving, "Did Pelia tell you she was on the Enterprise?" Buffy asked. Dawn shook her head, "Why would she be there? Last we talked she was teaching and running the Spacedock inspection team." Buffy shrugged, "I guess she got bored. The Enterprise seems to be anything but boring." In a matter of moments the lift sopped and the doors slid open with their customary "Whoosh," allowing the pair to step onto the bridge of the Serenity. "I love the new ship," Buffy said as she took her chair, "But sometimes I miss the Sunnydale."

Dawn looked at her sister, "You just miss complaining that you wanted a real ship."

Pike sat in his chair with steepled fingers while he waited. The ship's scans couldn't seem to locate his officers and he was stuck waiting until Captain Summers arrived. Ortegas and Una were not thrilled to be waiting for backup and Ortegas had made sure to voice her displeasure along with an offer to do an atmospheric sweep in a shuttle which of course Pike vetoed immediately.

"Captain," Una said looking at the scanners, "There's a ship coming in at high warp. It's the Serenity." It was at that moment a wave emanated from the planet and shook the ship causing systems to start blowing out. "Why does everything fry whenever they're around?" Una asked.

Pike righted himself in his chair, "Because they deal with things we don't. Hail the serenity."

After a moment Captain Summers appeared on the Enterprise viewscreen, "Captain," Pike said forgoing a greeting, "There's been a development."

Buffy looked less that pleased, "Yes the displacement wave," Buffy said as she checked her readouts. "We've suffered no damage. Looks like we were too far away." Buffy noted the looks on the faces of the Enterprise bridge crew. She couldn't just push them off to the side. "Look captain," She began, "I'm not going to lock you out captain. I invite you and a small team to beam over and assist."

Pike nodded as the communication closed. "Pike to sickbay, Nurse Chapel report to transporter room 2. Once he made that call, "Pelia, you're with me. She's your granddaughter so I assume you're already in the know."

Pelia nodded and started putting her tools back into her tool belt as Pike stood up, "Number One, you have the bridge."

Una stood to protest, but pike looked at her with his best placating gesture, "I need you here Number One. Get everything whipped into shape. I have a feeling we'll be running for our lives before this is over. I'll bring back Spock and La'an." Una didn't look happy but nodded and sat in the captain's chair as Pike and Pelia made their way to the turbolift.

Pike, Chapel, and Pelia materialized on the transporter pad of the Serenity to see Captain Summers, her sister, and a member of the captain's Slayer Squad if he remembered correctly waiting for them. "Welcome aboard the Serenity Captain," Buffy said as she reached out a hand to Pike. He took the offered hand and gave it a firm shake. "Thank you Captain Summers for not leaving us sidelined." Dawn stepped up to Pelia and wrapped her arms around the woman, "Hello Grandmother. It seems there are some things you forgot to tell us?" Pelia looked a little sheepish, "Well ye see dearie, I got bored." Buffy chuckled as she reached in and gave Pelia her own hug, "You bored? Never." Chapel did a double take, "Grandmother?" she asked Pelia who raised her eyebrow and nodded. "Yes, you see I'm very old, and I wasn't a nun ye know."

Buffy straightened, "You all remember my first officer, Commander Britany Evans. Pike nodded, "How could I forget? There's still a dent in the wall of the transporter room where she punched it after that beam out. She was quite upset until we told here you had been beamed straight to sickbay." Commander Evans nodded fiercly, "I'm not a fan of not knowing where my captain is."

"Brit," Buffy said, "Take the bridge, Dawn take the nurse and Grandmother to sickbay. I'm sure they'll be interested in the O.R.U. Captain Pike, you're with me."
