Getting a hold of the Black Panthers wasn't hard as they had a contact form to fill out which will lead in one of its members returning the message with a call. So while Goren was all thumbs, Eames grabbed the phone and filled out all the empty boxes with their contact info. Then, she returned the phone to its rightful owner. Apparently, they operated by appointment only.

"Now we wait." The wait was only about 20 minutes but time was short as it was.

"We got a meeting," Goren announced, cheeky with his phone raised in the air.

"But they are not about to let a bunch of cops in there so what's the plan?" Eames asked getting into the driver's side.

"We tell them outright we are cops."

"Bobby, that seems counterintuitive to our goal, you know getting inside."

"Exactly but that's why it will work. Curiosity. If we are not there to arrest them, then why."

Eames drove them to the headquarters which looked like any other office building except with signage designating the building belonging to the black panther party.

Immediately in the first set of doors were two armed guards which Goren approached tentatively as they had their guns in their wristbands and didn't want to appear confrontational. He knew that politics were heated at the moment so he didn't want anything escalating quickly. Eames followed his lead.

"You guys are cops. No entry."

"But we have a meeting," Goren flashed his phone.

"What do you want? We don't need anyone harassing the party. Especially right now with George Floyd. Your kind can't be trusted "

"Look, we just want to talk. You know I never understood the animosity against the party. You were agitators alright but with good purpose but they misunderstood your mission."

"Don't blow smoke, pig."

"N-no I'm n-not. I mean it. Look, I-I get that some members of the party may have been angry at cops but the main mission was to improve conditions for your community. I understand that now."

"That's what we wanted alright and we proved our conditions would not improve through your system."

"Our system is flawed. You were angry…hell, I am angry. You know… that righteous anger. You wouldn't keep out a fellow sympathizer."

"If you are true about your motives, you go in there without badges and guns. Feel like one of us stripped of power in your system. And then, you'll get your conversation."

Goren immediately took out his gun slowly dropping it to the ground but Eames did not follow."

"No if you're armed. We are too."

"Eames, he pleaded, "if this is the way…"

Goren bent his head slightly in the direction of the inside.

"What's to keep you from being trigger happy for some cops?"

"Giving you this opportunity is bad for us but if you are genuine about your motives then you should have no worry."

She glanced at Goren and huffed, "fine but tell your boys to play nice in there."

They were led into a room with an office and private owned posters promoting their deeds to improve the life of the Black American. Eames looked around feeling a little uncomfortable with her sudden small lack of privilege. Goren began pointing out the photos of activists and his smile beamed instead of the thin line Eames' was showcasing.

The Panthers they met with wouldn't appear at first glance to be anything more than ordinary. They appeared like the neighbor down the street or a fellow educator, dressed down in jeans and polo shirt, jacket enclosing their bodies. Nothing special. Nothing spectacular like the uniforms, berets that framed their image. Unified. Now, they appeared older in age, dressed comfortably like any other New Yorker despite the office in which they occupied would suggest. The party was less armed but more than capable to pick up a weapon and firing, Eames thought to herself.

Goren started the conversation similarly to before. He began pointing out the good deeds of the party and purposely ignoring any rough around the edges. First things first, Eames was always a cop and they got the loyalty first.

"You guys have done a lot of good work, the posters…programs that I'm sure would be invaluable to your community."

"Well, we try but you guys don't always make it easy on us. We have been wire-tapped, harassed, defamed in the media but we still believe in our mission that some things are better to be handled by ourselves."

"The problem is you take away from that mission when you begin targeting places like schools and New York."

"What are you talking about Lady, we aren't planning anything against schools and NYC

Goren opens his mouth like he wants to correct him but remembers titles wouldn't help him here so he closes his mouth withdrawing his objection. Eames continues on with the interrogation.

"But you have in the past"

"We targeted racial integration because believe that we are better served by our community than our white oppressors."

"And now, no ax to grind?"

"All we are interested in is creating programs and homeschooling our youth to be empowered black men and women. We help out organizations like blm to fund their battles with corruption inside your house and inside your jails.

"Yeah? So what's this about a letter between you and Gregory falter?"

"Gregory, I know him. Yes, I am helping him with books and information on homeschooling his son. He seemed pretty taken by our ideology."

"So you admit to being in communication with him, what are you planning in Times Square?"

"Planning, are you even listening of course you aren't. There is no plan. Matter of fact there is no letter. All our interactions have been on phone or in person."

"Well we haven't actually seen the letter," Goren posits.

"You don't even know if there is actually a letter. How are your people telling you to look into something based on no evidence. Sure sounds like a frame job to me. Not that I'm surprised. You guys have been planting evidence on us since the beginning. Instead of hassling us, maybe look into your own house"

"Well whether in house or with you guys the truth will come out in a matter of time and you want to be on the right side of this,"Goren continues.

"That letter implicates you guys then you better watch your backs," a visibly passed off Eames snaps back.

"Is that a threat from NYPD?"

"No that's a promise of what will come down if that attack goes through."

"If that's the case you should watch your backs before you, too, are the problem."

"And here I thought we already were."

"If you are the good guys, and that's a big if cause I don't trust any of you as far as I can throw you, the pigs cover up corruption and if you don't want to stand by it. It's only a matter of time until you are buried under it. I think we have been hospitable enough, it is time for you to leave."

"Thanks for the warning. Eye opening."

They both exited the building retrieving their badges and guns. "I take it these weren't tampered with. Cause you know that's a felony in your case," Eames supplies as Goren chuckles then raises an eyebrow towards the Panthers outside. Once they were out of earshot, Eames turned to Goren with a question. "Okay what are you seeing that I'm not? We are still no closer to finding Gregory or figuring out the plan."

"If there is one."

"You believe them?"

"I believe their affect."

"So back to square one?"

"To do what we should have done in the first place. We didn't see the letter but surely our captain has in order for him to be on board with it.

"You would think."

"Or else why would he go along with it," Goren continued.

"Maybe they have something on him that is guaranteeing his being on board. How many blackmail cases have we seen over the years? I am a little tired of this wild goose chase."

"Me too. I'm tired of chasing our tails especially when there may or may not be a threat out there."

"Well let's go find out, for ourselves." With that Eames clicked the key into the ignition and set back to One Police Plaza.
