Hello everyone. Sorry that this is not a new chapter. I'm writing this notice to let all of you know that, after considering the contents and chapters I should include to this fanfic, I decide to stop adding chapters for a while so I can rewrite it from a ground up.

I can guess you feel disappointed to hear it from my mouth that A Painting's Shadow will go on hiatus so I can restart it from scratch, which I can sympathize since this is the second time I put my story on hiatus and decide on the direction I must take for my stories. But there are reasons why I decide to rewrite the story to the one I feel satisfied and have a sense of flow that isn't too fast, but isn't too slow either.

One, I think Shadow and Mary's relationship, which is the core facet of the fanfic, has advanced too fast that it feels like Mary mostly got out of her mental instability and Shadow was too lax in keeping an eye on her state of mind so she wouldn't lash out suddenly. I believe I should have taken it slow and let their relationship develop naturally across the chapters so their eventual bond and friendship don't feel abrupt and hasty. While I did gave their personalities a lot of care and justice and feel proud of how they act against each other, it's their hasty relationship growth that I have a problem with.

And second, I'm planning to have this story contain less chapters than my other fanfic, Living Things, targeting less than half the overall chapters of it. From the start, I don't want to give A Painting's Shadow a lot of chapters and once I realize the story will contain many chapters than I thought it needed, I stop writing and polishing the eighth chapter to consider my options on how to proceed with the story and my current feelings to the completed chapters. Eventually, I decide to put it on hiatus and rewrite it entirely

I know this sounds like a bad news and you feel disappointed I put a halt to it for a time, but please do not worry. I'm intending to publish at least two chapters of the new version of A Painting's Shadow in the last week of September. If I'm unable to because I have Living Things to write a new chapter for, then the first week of October. I'm sorry for declaring this to all of you since you're looking forward to a new chapter revolving Shadow and Mary's growing relationship and their struggle to break away from the Fabricated World's grip on them. In fact, I'm thinking on scrapping or changing that part of the story since it feels like it's making it more complex than I thought I needs to be. It's undecided for now.

Until the new version of A Painting's Shadow is out, I will not delete this story because I believe some of you may like certain parts of it and I don't want to anger all of you when I delete it. For as much as I come to dislike this version though, that doesn't mean I'm not proud of what I written.

Well, I think it's time to end this announcement. Thank you for reading this and understanding it and I hope you will come again to read the new version releasing in the last week of September or the first week of October. Goodbye everyone! Please stay safe and have a good day/night!
