He should've been the one to remember.
For years now, Jack's rage festered. Every day, every hour he had to spend rotting inside a mechanical, restricted body, the boy allowed his spite to emerge. All those people who knew that he and his friends were inside those animatronics, yet never did anything to free them or to help them. They were cold, cruel monsters, every single one of them. Jack remembered every time he tried to break the confines of his voice box to speak to a giddy child or an intrigued adult passing by the pirate cove. His soul screamed and begged for help as the animatronic's mouth opened, coming so close to letting out those desperate sounds again and again. But in the end, all those on the other side heard was
"Yarr, shiver me timbers, fresh meat on my ship!"
There was so much that they tried to break free. Even tearing each other's animatronic bodies apart, their programming prevented them from damaging themselves. They could push each other like Liam did to him in the old pizzeria, but no more. All they could do was to wait and yearn for their upcoming out of vengeance.
He just wished he could remember.
He remembered the disgust elicited by the man that killed him, remembered his fear, every fiber of his body shaking, and remembered his gross, psychotic giggle. But he could not remember his face and scent; the memories were too clouded, and every time he tried to recount them, Jack felt the agony and terror poisoning every fiber of his non-existent body. He couldn't envision it, no matter how hard he tried. Others never saw his face, but Jack should've remembered…Should've directed them towards him so this nightmare could end. And now, it was simply one desperate attempt after another, attempts that will continue until their mechanical bodies become rust.
And now the man that caged them, the one who served the monster that ran this company, forcing the same cycle of torment upon them again and again, was here. Getting ready for his first night, and this time, Jack wasn't the only one whose patience was extinguished.
"He's here…" Liam's faint voice echoed in Jack's mind.
"I know." The boy echoed snappily, sending the message to Liam. "And I am not letting this one get away…You understand?"
"You…Aren't you still angry with me, are you?" Liam pleaded. "I ended up right…It was my dad!"
"I know, I know," Jack reassured him. "I hope you're right this time, too…I hope it's him. I want to kill him…I want to make him scream and pay for what he did to us. I want him to suffer…"
"He took my dad…"
"Will you help me this time?" Jack asked with rising hope in his voice.
"Yes…I promise."
…
And so, the time has come for his 'first night' of work for Fazbear Inc. William couldn't help but chuckle at the sheer irony.
Well, it wasn't a lie in its entirety. It was his first night working in the new restaurant and its office. A cramp, dirty, filthy office…He was used to monitors and cameras, though William never took the seat of the night hard itself. It was just him surrounded by a few posters and utter silence…The fan's echo was the only saving grace from having William feeling like he was amidst complete oblivion. He had a feeling that the animatronics would not stay in their spots. Was this how Henry felt when he returned for the night? It must have been. It was ironic how similar their situations were, down to a recorder that someone left him.
"Hello? Hello, hello? Uhh, I wanted to record a message for you... to help you get settled in on your first night. Um, I actually worked in that office before you. I'm... finishing up my last week now, as a matter of fact, so... I know it can be a bit overwhelming, but I'm here to tell you: there's nothing to worry about. Uh, you'll do fine! So... let's just focus on getting you through your first week. Okay?
Uh, let's see. First, there's an introductory greeting from the company that I'm supposed to read. Eh, it's kind of a legal thing, you know. Um, 'Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza: a magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come to life. Fazbear Inc. is not responsible for damage to property or persons. Upon discovery of damage or if death has occurred, a missing person's report will be filed within ninety days or as soon as property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached and the carpets have been replaced.' Blah, blah, blah...
Now, that might sound bad, I know. But there's really nothing to worry about.
Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No! If I were forced to sing... those same stupid songs for years, and I never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night, too. So remember: these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children, and you need to show them a little respect. Right? Okay.
So, just be aware: the characters do tend to wander a bit. Uhh, they're left in some kind of "free-roaming mode" at night. Uhh... something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for too long. Uhh... they used to be allowed to walk around during the day, too, but then there was the Bite of '87. Yeah... Even for an adult, going out like this would be gnarly, but for a kid? God help his soul…
Now, concerning your safety: the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact that these characters, uhh, if they happen to see you after hours, probably won't recognize you as a person. Th-They'll most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume on. Now, since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, they'll probably try to... forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit. Um, now that wouldn't be so bad if the suits themselves weren't filled with crossbeams, wires, and animatronic devices, especially around the facial area. So you can imagine how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those could cause a bit of discomfort... and death. Uh, the only parts of you that would likely see the light of day again would be your eyeballs and teeth when they pop out the front of the mask, heh. ...Y-Yeah, they don't tell you these things when you sign up...
But hey! The first day should be a breeze; I'll chat with you tomorrow. Uhh, check those cameras, and remember to close the doors only if absolutely necessary. Gotta conserve power."
William chuckled…At least the closing part was true. He had to watch for how long he kept those large metal doors shut. He was impressed; those were strange to see in a pizzeria, but they would easily hold the animatronics off for a time. As for everything else…
Lies.
William knew the protocol well; whoever left this message had the same protocol that Will received in the old pizzeria when he was supposed to guide Henry. He expected it…All except an off-handed mention of his dead son. No doubt an attempt to pretend like they care for the tragedy that occurred with him and regrets their part in it…Another lie. At least they tried to come up with an excuse as to why animatronics were moving at night; there was some progress. Will would start his research tomorrow, and now he had those monsters to deal with.
As he looked up at the cameras, his first priority was the stage. He kept Foxy in the back of his mind all the time, knowing that he was ravenous out of all animatronics, even somehow resisting his own programming and bypassing the illusion Henry's mask created. However, it always began with one of the animatronics leaving the stage.
Will's suspicions were confirmed the moment he saw that there were only two animatronics still left on the stage. Bonnie was gone, and William could feel his approach. The metallic echoes of the animatronic's steps echoed in the hall to William's left, immediately making the night guard look at the camera that depicted the hall. It was pitch black, with only a single bulb occasionally shimmering and breaking up the darkness. He was there, slowly moving towards Will's door. Robotic steps, one after another, as if he fought his own programming to reach the door and look into William's eyes again. The echo grew closer with each passing moment, making William think of the day he allowed 'Bonnie' to talk. He was Henry's son, the one whom his father promised to free while William stood beside them and nodded in agreement. He had a feeling that Alison would not fulfill the terms he laid out to Henry, and now Liam must have realized it, too. In his eyes, William was responsible. He wasn't exactly wrong, either…
When William pressed the white button before his door to turn the light on, he saw Bonnie's silhouette emerging from the shadows, walking towards him.
Moments later, Will pressed the red button and witnessed the metal door descend to the floor with speed and precision, immediately cutting off Bonnie from him. The steps stopped at this very moment, making William breathe heavily and feel his heartbeat increase with every second.
He was still there, biding his time and waiting for William to open the door. Did he know about William having to conserve power? Was he trying to drain it out?
Stay calm…He had to stay calm.
The moment William tried to catch his breath, he heard the echoing sound of cutlery falling to the floor. It must have come from the kitchen. The night guard tried to access the camera but was met with a pitch-black screen.
"Oh for fuck's…" William uttered under his breath. This camera was offline as if he didn't have enough problems on his hands. They could barely keep this new restaurant operational, and Will was the one to have to deal with it.
He checked the stage and realized that Chica left, too. She must have been the one in the kitchen, slowly making her way towards Will. They were surrounding him, and compared to how it was with Henry, this time, the animatronics worked in a much more united and effective manner, as if all of this was pre-planned.
What if it was?
What if, this time, they were eager to hunt him down together for all the lies and all the pain he bestowed upon them? Perhaps they even thought he was the killer. William knew that at least Foxy did. When Chica emerged in the right hall, slowly taking her steps towards Will's office, the night guard had to resist his temptation to close the door immediately. First, he checked Bonnie's presence to his right, and the light showed that the bunny's shadow was gone. William took his chances and opened the door, finally getting confirmation that Bonnie was gone. Without checking the opposite side, Will closed the door and blocked Chica's way. When he checked the lights, she was already outside, ready and eager…
Will chuckled at the stinging irony. He still remembered working on those machines in his office at Fazbear Inc., creating one mechanical body after another, imbuing those animatronics with voice so they could entertain children and bring joy to their hearts. Now, those same creations hunted him down for the sake of their desire for vengeance. Only time will tell who will win in this battle.
William was about to check the lights again, but a sharp sound interrupted him. More steps from the left hall…But those were much lighter than Bonnie's and incredibly swift, accelerating with each moment just like William's beating heart. He checked the camera and witnessed the mortifying picture himself.
It was Foxy. He rushed through the left hall, crossing the expanse and charging towards Will's open door. It was only a slight moment that William was able to peer into the animatronic's eyes, but there was something that he spied in them. Something that made him recoil in horror, forcing himself back into his chair before finally locking the door and forcing Foxy to bump into the door without passing any further. He saw hate in his eyes, saw genuine bloodthirsty desire for slaughter. Mechanical eyes should not have been able to convey it even with a soul inside…And yet, this feeling was unmistakable.
And then William heard Foxy's raging scream, a mixture of a pirate voice he imbued him with and something far more primal and desperate, a cry of the inner soul breaking free from his confines. He will come back; William knew that much.
All he had to do now was to survive the night…And stay calm.
…
New Harmony…
It seemed like the rumors were true. For a while now, every time Chris overhead people talking about Fazbear Inc. as he watched from the sewers or roofs, everyone talked about a re-opening. It's not a grand one, quite the opposite. Apparently, the company transferred what remained of their resources to a smaller town of New Harmony, and that was where a new Fazbear establishment was open, along with the four animatronics that were transferred there.
Chris made sure to search around the town and make sure there was a basis for those rumors, and he was pleasantly surprised. "Fredbear's Family Diner," "Circus Baby's Pizza World," and "Freddy Fazbear's Pizza" all three restaurants were closed and abandoned, entirely void of the happy, welcoming atmosphere that once permeated it along with children's laughter and jolly songs of the animatronics. But that didn't mean they were entirely 'dead.' Fazbear employees still walked around, taking out all they could from those restaurants. Furniture, souvenirs, toys, spare animatronic parts, even the golden Spring Bonnie suit, loading all of them into trucks that took all of those elements…Somewhere. It must have been their new restaurant in New Harmony.
If his father was alive, he was there now.
It wasn't difficult to lurk past the busy guards while the truck was still open. To hide amidst the metal parts of the torture devices and bury himself in them. It felt comforting, almost as if Chris was among his own…His 'friends' were just like the plushies he played with before he died. The guards did not care to double-check. They just wanted to get on with their job. They revved up the engine, preparing for a long journey with Chris following their trail, finally able to relax for a few hours.
He would not let his father slip away.
