The apartment is quiet when it's just him. It's a quiet that he is long used to really, but a quiet he no less likes. Izuku sets his laptop up to work on another school assignment, he plays music through the speakers instead of his headphones to fill the void. To his surprise he gets a text from Hitoshi. He finds himself grinning as he reads the message.

Apparently Hitoshi is exhausted from training, and wants to know how Izuku manages. *

(I got very good at running quickly)

[...bullies?]

(Yea, bullies- want to switch to a phone I have some thoughts about your quirk and want to share, it's too much to type)

[So you really aren't mad?]

(While i understand why you are hesitant to trust me, I promise I really don't give a shit about you quirk Hito- you aren't a villain)

[Fine, yea we can voice chat, maybe you can use your big brain to help me with this homework] (sure, i'm working on school stuff too)

Izuku sets his phone on the coffee table, Hitoshi said he was going to grab some snacks before calling so Izuku takes it upon himself to do the same. He spies the clock while he's in the kitchen grabbing the container of leftover spam masubi from the fridge. It's no where close to late. His dad's absolutely ancient ass cat comes out of hiding deciding to grace him with her presence for once. He sets his plate on the coffee table and grabs his phone, the cat settles across his lap which is entirely inconvenient for homework.

"You're lucky you're an old lady." Izuku playful teases the pitiful beast. The cat doesn't even look up or give any sign she cares.

His phone rings, Izuku answers it quickly putting in on speaker since apparently he now has to deal with this dumb cat.

Aizawa knocks on the Midoriya's apartment door, he can hear Inko rushing around inside before the door swings open. She's in her scrubs already. She looks completely rushed as she gestures him in.

"Everything alright?" He doesn't bother to slip off his shoes already getting the feeling he won't be staying long. Inko shakes her head while throwing her hair up quickly.

"I got called in early, another nurse is sick.. I'm sorry Shouta." She turns her back to him to go and grab something else in her mad rush to get to work.

"That's fine, If you have time I can just tell you what I'm thinking while you get ready?" he suggests, knowing that they can't delay this conversation any further. Inko nods, gesturing for him to come in. Aizawa shuts the door behind him.

"Okay, yes that's fine, I still need to put some makeup on."

Inko sets up at the kitchen counter with a small mirror and her makeup bag. Aizawa gives her a moment to get settled into the task before he speaks.

"There is a spot open in the gen-ed program at UA that I want to nominate Izuku for. If he were accepted based on test scores and an evaluation run by Nedzu he could start immediately. UA will pay for any fees with his current high school and provide new uniforms and books."

"Shouta... UA is expensive, and besides.." Inko trails off, he hums.

"Tuition would be covered since he'd be enrolling under a sponsorship. But if he enrolls it does me he can't move to America with you." A move that he knows neither of them think will really make a difference but he understands trying something for the off chance that it might. Inko finishes applying her mascara before turning to question.

"Where would he live?" She caps the mascara and sets it blindly in the bag.

"With me. He's there enough and has a room so it wouldn't change too much." He answers immediately. Having Izuku live with him full time wouldn't be a problem for him. Aizawa admittedly has grown very used to having his son at his apartment on the regular. These days it seemed like the teen spent more time with him than anyone else.

"I... It feels wrong to leave him behind." Inko hesitates, and truthfully he understands that sentiment. He knew that feeling too well.

Leaving his son behind, it was an awful feeling, one that was because of necessity in order for Izuku to be safe.

"Inko, may I be blunt?" At this she snorts. "Bluntness is what I expect from you Shouta."

"Izuku does not want to move to America, he won't thrive there. However, I do think it will be better for you to be closer to your husband. I know that you want Izuku to continue his education before he starts working, whatever that may look like for him, and letting him stay where he is comfortable will be better for him." He tells her. Inko bites her lip, she looks away.

"I don't want to lose him, Shouta." She admits, a bit misty eyed. Aizawa nods.

"I know you don't, but if you force him to move you will." Because he knows that while Izuku isn't the time to easily resent, this will become a wall between the mother and son.

"I just.. I want him to be safe. Will you make sure he's safe?"

"I promise to do my best." In this life there is no such thing as perfectly safe always, but he will do his best to keep Izuku as safe as he can. Inko finishes with her makeup, closing the entire bag and turning the light off the small mirror.

"Okay, okay.. I agree with you. I still want to see him, and I expect calls and texts from you both." She tells him, firm no arguments allowed. Aizawa grins.

"I agree to those terms. I'll get out of your hair, have a good shift." "You as well."

Aizawa finishes his patrol hours later, he is almost expecting Izuku to still be awake when he makes it back to the apartment. Surprisingly his chronic night owl child is not wide awake in the living room still working on projects. The signs of that are there, the laptop, the crumb filled plate, a half filled notebook of notes. But Izuku himself is not. Aizawa takes off his boots, shoving them next to his son's bright red sneakers.

He does all his normal safety checks before heading down the short hall to his own room taking a glance into his son's room to find Izuku sprawled out on the bed on his stomach and the cat sleeping on his back. He snorts, stepping into the room to drape a blanket over the sleeping teen and to grab the cat. Izuku didn't need that weight on him all night long. Aizawa carries the cat out of the room, she is utterly pathetic the entire time, even when he sets her on the bed so he can change out of his gear.

Before settling in for what is really a nap, Aizawa makes sure to send Nedzu a copy of Izuku's school records and the application for sponsorship into the gen-ed program. It is absolutely not surprising that Nedzu's response is immediate and affirmative 'he can start Monday'. Now all that's left to do is to confirm the plan with Izuku. Which will be a task for tomorrow.

Aizawa goes to sleep.
