A failed attempt at Human Transmutation has dire consequnces for a young alchemist, and the effects leave him changed beyond recognition. He is forced to assume a new identity and become a State Alchemist, working with the State Military. Though this ordeal damages him greatly, it is only the first step on a great journey, one that might change the fate of all Amestris.

Edward has some conflicting thoughts about his 15th birthday (takes place during the series). Warning for some self-destructive thoughts although they're rather minor. Happy Birthday, Edward!

The lively group immediately silenced as they turned their attention to Edward when a man projecting an ominous aura, wrapped an arm around the former alchemist's shoulders and uttered a menacing threat into the boy's ear.
