Even though the two women known as Kirika Akatsuki-Tsukuyami and Shirabe Akatsuki-Tsukoyami had a lot going for them, including a happy marriage, successful careers, regular excitement, both from battle combating various supernatural threats to the world as agents of the Squad of Nexus Guardians (or S.O.N.G for short) and in the bedroom alongside having healthy social lives, they wanted something more in their lives. Namely a family to call their own, and while the rest of their squad certainly was like family to them, it wasn't what they were seeking. And what they wanted was a child to call their own. Little did they know that their wish would be granted while at the same time fulfilling someone else's wish. The wish for a loving family.
On the day prior to the day when the lives of Shirabe and Kirika changed, S.O.N.G had, for the first time in a long time, uncovered a complete Relic. A practically unknown one, but a complete Relic nonetheless in the countryside a few kilometers from the city of London. Its name was Priscilla. The Scythe of Departure. A pale imitation of the Orcus, the scythe of Thanatos, the Grim Reaper himself. One quarter of a set of four Relics collectively known as the Deathly Hallows, each being pale imitations of the items of Legend belonging to the Grim Reaper created by humans in the ancient past in an attempt to conquer death and achieve true immortality. Not wanting to take any chances, S.O.N.G dispatched Kirika and Shirabe to act as security to oversee the transportation of the Relic through the streets of London, hoping that the two wielders of the Blades of Zababa wouldn't be needed. Unfortunately, they were needed as when the escort reached a very boring looking neighborhood, a massive horde of Alca-Noise, artificial creatures capable of disintegrating anything they touch with the only exceptions being Relics and the weapons formed from fragments of Relics and empowered by singing, Symphogears, appeared and started to rampage around the area.
After a long and tiring battle, only three people remained alive in the immediate area. Shirabe, Kirika and a young girl who appeared to be having some kind of resonance with the Relic that the agents of S.O.N.G were transporting. While Kirika had been able to save the young girl's life from an Alca-Noise, the wielder of the Igalima-Symphogear had to reluctantly amputate the girl's right leg at the knee to save her life, causing the girl a lot of pain all the way to the point where she passed out from it. Stating that the wielder of the Shul Shagana-Symphogear and her wife were frustrated by their failure to prevent the loss of life at the metaphorical hands of the Alca-Noise was quite the understatement, even if they were grateful for being able to keep their quarry safe and were able save the life of at least one person from the Alca-Noise. Seeing as they wouldn't be going anywhere for some time, the two Symphogear wielders decided to make the most of their situation. Kirika entered one of the empty houses in search of a first aid kit in order to do something about the young girl's bleeding stump that was left of her right leg while her wife kept close to the case that the Priscilla was stored in while trying to start one of the provided cars.
After a few attempts at starting one of the provided cars, including a couple tries with one of Kirika's favorite methods of 'fixing' malfunctioning/misbehaving tech, 'percussive maintenance' as she called it, Shirabe eventually managed to get a car to start just as her wife showed up with the young girl in her arms, the stump of the young girl's right leg all bandaged up and the girl herself passed/knocked out. The drive to the rendezvous point was a rather quiet one, not because of any issues or real tensions between the married couple but because of the fact that they didn't want to disturb or the young girl who was lying in Kirika's lap fast asleep/passed out across the backseats. The fact that the girl was definitely an orphan due to the agents of S.O.N.G's failure was not missed by the aforementioned agents, though Kirika did however find herself under the slight impression that the girl in her lap was technically already an orphan, even before the people she probably lived with got 'Alca-Noised'.
Taking a quick photo of the unconscious girl in her lap and sending it to HQ along with a request for the personnel to run the picture through facial recognition in order to identify the young girl and figure out how to proceed while also mentioning the girl's potential compatibility and apparent resonance with the Relic they were transporting, Kirika got her answer from HQ after about half an hour. The girl's name was apparently Halfeti Potter. The daughter of James and Lily Potter. Husband and wife. Both deceased. Current (more likely former) guardians: her aunt, Petunia Dursley, and her husband, Vernon Dursley, both probably deceased at the metaphorical hands of the Alca-Noise along with their son, Dudley Dursley. Which meant that Halfeti was the only 'survivor' of the Alca-Noise's attack. Kirika was brought back to reality from her train of thought by her wife practically shouting at her from the driver's seat.
"Kirika! Can you hear me back there?" Asked Shirabe worriedly.
"Yeah. I can hear you, but I wasn't listening earlier, sorry. What did you say again?" Replied Kirika apologetically, sounding more than a little embarrassed at not listening to her wife.
"I said that we're about a couple of hours away from the rendezvous point and asked how our… extra passenger is doing."
"Good to know, and she's still out cold but seems to be relatively okay all things considered."
"I see. Got her name from HQ?"
"Yup. Her name is Halfeti Potter and she's an orphan."
"Before or after the Alca-Noise?"
"Yes."
"… what?"
"Technically an orphan living with still alive relatives who got Alca-Noised during the attack earlier today."
"Ah. That makes sense."
"I thought the same. What happens with her is something that will be decided once she wakes up and our current mission is complete."
"I see. That might take more than a little more time than expected, Kirika."
"Why?"
"Traffic jam. I anticipate that we'll be stuck in it for a few hours at minimum."
"Damn. Had I known this would happen I would have brought either a magazine or a book with me… death."
"Let's see what's on the radio. Might as well listen to something while we're stuck in traffic." Replied Shirabe as she started to flip through the various channels of the British airwaves.
