Ezra walked towards the cockpit of the Ghost, the ship which would be his new home for the foreseeable future. When he reached it, the first to greet him was the green-skinned Twi-lek pilot named Hera.
"Welcome aboard my ship Ezra Bridger."
"Let me guess? It was your idea to recruit me."
"Guilty as charged."
"All of us agreed to her proposal, including Zeb," Sabine explained.
"Seriously," Ezra asked in surprise, turning towards the Lasat.
"Annoying and bratty behavior like yours is useful when fighting the Empire. Plus, it's always good to have someone to watching your back, whether your fighting for freedom or just scavenging to survive," Zeb said in response.
"Can't argue with that," Ezra responded.
"Having a new face on this ship will take some getting used to, and trusting a new member will definitely take time," Sabine interjected.
"But I'm up for the challenge. The question is are you up to it Ezra?"
"I've been alone and on my own for a long time. Being apart of a team who supports you is refreshing. Doing the same thing over and over gets old and dull. I'm sure being on this ship will be an exciting experience."
Hera nodded in agreement before turning back to the ship window. Ezra's face then got serious and he said, "If I'm going to join you guys, I want your guarantee that you won't baby me or pity me. Like I said, I've lived on the streets alone for a very long time. I've seen my fair share of trouble and danger. I've also gotten hurt more than a few times. I persevered, and I"ll keep doing so. You all don't have to go into Mama Bear mode over me."
"It's not me, Kanan , or Sabine that you have to worry about doing that kid," the purple Lasat whispered in his ear, motioning to Hera with his eyes.
"I can feel your eyes on me Zeb," Hera said in an irritated tone. He quickly sat back down. Once the Ghost had left the atmosphere, Hera said, "Kanan come takeover for me. I'm going to give our newest crew member a medical evaluation."
She put her ship on autopilot and stood up and stared at the Bridger boy.
"I figured you would say that. That's why I'm going to show you my scars, so you won't be shocked when I have to remove my clothes for the exam."
Ezra took his backpack first, then pulled his jacket and shirt off just as Kanan arrived. Hera audibly gasped, while Zeb said "Whoa!", and Sabine followed with "There are so many!"
"As good as I am, I didn't always escape tight spots unscathed," Ezra explained.
"I can see that very clearly," Kanan in a sympathetic tone
"There are more on my legs, but I don't want to have put my pants and shoes back on."
The rest of the Ghost rebels got closer to Ezra to examine his scars. Two of them, both on his stomach, immediately stood out as surgical. Foreseeing their question/demand, Ezra asked, "Have you guys ever sold body parts?"
Their looks of shock increased, and Sabine responded by asking him if that's what he did.
"I sold my gallbladder and spleen and got a truck load of credits. Organic matter is way more lucrative than weapons or tech. You should try doing it."
"We'll pass, thanks," Kanan quickly stated without any disagreement from his comrades.
"What kind of lothworms would let a child sell his organs?!" Sabine asked, her voice serene yet incensed. Her facial expression was murderous, promising a world of pain for the dealers who exploited Ezra.
"Someone who doesn't give a flying f**k about kids," Kanan answered Sabine's question in an equally apoplectic tone.
"Do you remember what these guys or gals look like kid? I'd like to pay them a visit!" Zeb asked, pounding his fist into his palm. Unlike when he first encountered the Lasat, Ezra was now fearful of the enraged Garazeb Orelios.
It was then that Hera interjected, to stop both herself and her crew/family from doing something rash.
"Is there anything else you'd like to tell or show us, Ezra?"
"When I was seriously wounded, I would stitch up or cauterize my injuries, sometimes with painkillers sometimes with out them," the Bridger orphan responded, causes all present to visibly flinch.
"Didn't that hurt like Hell?" Sabine asked
"Not to mention it's dangerous, moving around can worsen the injury or spread the infection if there is one," Zeb added.
The ghost captain grabbed Ezra's cheeks and brought her face close to his. Bridger involuntarily blushed.
"Sweetheart, as you've said your not living by yourself on the streets anymore, so please don't do either of those things again. If you need help with anything at all, don't hesitate to ask, okay?"
"Aye Aye Captain," Ezra responded and gave a mock salute, to which Hera giggled. She then picked up his shirt and led him out of the cockpit to her ship's medbay.
"That kid's something else."
"Yeah Zeb, he is."
"There's a fine line between tough and crazy Sabine, and the boy's flirting with it."
Kanan took the pilot seat, typed in some calculations/coordinates, and made the jump to hyperspace, the stars becoming white lines as he did.

Hera returned to the Ghost's cockpit ten minutes later.
"How was he?" Sabine asked her team leader anxiously.
"He was fine. No infections, or unnoticed injuries, or illnesses," Hera reassured her mandalorian companion. Sabine sighed in relief, then whispered in the Twi-leks ear, "Did you check his…you know?"
"I offered to let our medical 48 droid do that, and to exam the rest of his body if he didn't like to be touched, but he acquiesced. His face was lighting up like a red flame the whole time. If you ever get tired of his flirting, flirt back Sabine. He'll be flustered into silence or even run away, like he did when I mussed his hair and kissed his forehead."
"Thanks for the advice," the girl from Clan Wren replied with a smirk.
