Delicate snowflakes twirled and danced upon the late night sky of Vale, draping the city with a glistering white cloth. Beautiful illuminations and various decorations were adorned on every street. Vale merrily shone with laughter and joy as people gathered with their loved ones celebrating the new year.

As the countdown began, two women stood down the arch of an elegantly decorated aisle, with greenery and white roses going up the runner and along the arch. One of the women was wearing an off shoulder white mermaid dress, perfectly hugging her curves, with snowflakes embroidery adorning the veil. The other was wearing a red suit with roses embroidered on it with a white thread. Both women were wearing chokers with a white rose on the side.

"10!"

"Ruby Rose, do you take Weiss Schnee, to be your wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you apart?"

Ruby grinned happily at Weiss.

"5!"

"I do."

"4!"

"Weiss Schnee-"

"I do."

"3!"

Ruby chuckled at Weiss's hurried response, she wanted them to be officially married right as the countdown finished.

"2!"

"... Alright then, the brides may now kiss."

"1!"

Cheers roared and fireworks exploded in a palette of colors as Ruby and Weiss locked their lips in a deep kiss. They broke apart with a sigh, their smiles were so wide it threatened to split their faces in half. They were the picture perfect of a happy couple.

Ruby rested her forehead on Weiss's. "I can't believe we actually got married."

"Do you regret it?"

"Are you kidding! This is the happiest I've ever been. I just... can't find the words to express how happy I am."

Weiss giggled. "Oh but I can think of one... poggers!"

Ruby rolled her eyes. "You're never gonna let me live it down, are you?"

Weiss wrapped her arms around Ruby's neck. She had that look again, where everything ceased to exist and all that remained were bright smiles and mesmerizing silver eyes casting her glow on her.

"Never…"

Ruby smiled joyfully then picked Weiss up and twirled her around as they exploded in a fit of laughter. If someone came to her a few months ago and told her she would meet the love of her life on a dating show and then marry them, she would've taken that person to the asylum herself. She will be forever grateful to her sister for having forced her into this.

Ruby woke up with a jolt, her phone was ringing somewhere under the piles of schematics and blueprints on her desk. She had spent another night in her office. She groaned at her stiffness as everything cracked in her body.

She finally found her phone and answered with a raspy voice. "...Hello?"

"Heya Rubyroo! Good morning!"

Ruby winced at the loud voice of her sister. "Morning Yang..."

"Yikes Rubes, you pulled another all nighter at your office, didn't you."

"...you can't prove that."

"I'm at your apartment and it's empty."

Ruby pursed her lips. "Okay yeah, but I had to."

She could hear Yang sigh. "Ruby you just got back from overseas after supervising that solar panels project or something like that."

"Concentrated solar power. Yeah and it's fully operational but there's still some needed adjustments."

The truth is there wasn't much work to do but she needed an escape from the emptiness of her apartment. She wasn't particularly sad per se. She was rather successful, being head engineer at Polendina Technologies and supervising numerous projects. She had fun at her job and working with her best friend was a bonus. Her social life wasn't lacking either, her circle of friends; which included Yang of course; always made sure to meet up regularly, they were like an extended family to her. Still, there were always moments of loneliness that lured in the corner of her life.

"... You know what you need? a break like a month or so."

"Yang-"

"Annd a girlfriend too, someone to maintain your rose bush which is in desperate need of attention."

Ruby choked on her own saliva and stuttered with a severe blush. "Y-Yang!"

"Annnd that is why I signed you up on a dating show!"

"You did what!?"

Winter held her phone away from her ear as Weiss shrieked through it. This reaction was predictable, but Weiss's high pitched voice could still damage her ear-drum.

"Lower your tone Weiss, this is unbecoming."

She heard Weiss huff. "Oh? as unbecoming as participating on a dating show?! Winter I have a company to run, a name to salvage! And you want me to parade my love life on TV?! Think about the public opinion!"

Winter rolled her eyes. "Dear sister, it's been two years since you dramatically pulled that coup d'état and threw our father into prison. Since then everybody witnessed the drastic changes Schnee Energy underwent. You fired the entire board, changed the company's policies about labor and human rights and adjusted the salaries, and you took actual measures against the environment crisis…Plus, seeing the soft side of the notorious ice queen would be highly beneficial for the company's public image."

"I refuse."

"I've already told your assistant to clear your schedule for the next month and all your responsibilities have been delegated to Whitley. I also put a notice for everyone saying that you will be taking some well deserved vacation."

"...I hate you, and you've been hanging out with Robyn too much, she's rubbing off on you."

Winter smirked. "I love you too, I'll be coming shortly to explain further details."

Ruby grabbed Yang by her collar and shook her furiously. "What were you thinking!? A dating show?! This is better be one of your stupid prank!"

After hearing the news. Ruby had immediately sprinted to her apartment only to find Yang spread out on her couch, looking entirely too pleased with herself.

"Hey hey relax." The blonde grasped her hands. "What's the big deal? This could be a real opportunity for you to meet someone special!"

Ruby let her go then ran her hands through her hair. "Yang. If you're that worried about my love life, sign me on a blind date! Introduce me to new people! I don't know!"

Yang waved her hand. "Psshh nah that's too boring. Anyways you don't really have a choice now since I kinda forged your signature on the contract." She grinned as Ruby gaped at her.

"Dating is tough, and finding the right person is equally difficult. So what if we told you that we already found your match? What if we gave you the chance to meet the one?" Lisa Lavender stood in front of a modern apartment building as she presented the show. "Welcome to Beacon of Love, here we will follow 5 couples who will live together for a month. They will get to know each other, go on dates, flirt, banter. And at the end, they will decide to either continue or split up."

"Today's episode will focus on a particularly adorable pair. Stay tuned."

Weiss was pacing around the apartment. It was fairly spacious and well decorated. The living room gave a cozy feeling with an L shaped sofa in front of a large flat screen TV, the immense windows gave a stunning view of the city. The kitchen was adjacent, only separated by a marble countertop. She checked the rooms which contained all of her belongings along with what she assumed to be her partner's.

The white haired girl huffed as she checked the time. She had agreed only to one date. Living with a stranger for a month didn't really appeal to her, no matter how much of a catch they could be.

The sound of the unlocking door interrupted her thoughts. She braced herself as she heard footsteps coming closer. 'Let's get this over with' she thought.

Her breath hitched as a familiar red tint mop of messy hair came into view. Silver eyes came into contact with baby blue ones as everything seemed to slow down. Weiss and Ruby just stood there in the middle of the living room dumbly staring at each other. The blue eyed girl was the first one to snap out of her daze, she blinked before clearing her throat.

"...Ruby… it's… been a while. I certainly wasn't expecting you here."

Ruby was still looking at her with wide eyes and was completely dumbfounded. She couldn't believe her eyes, of all people it had to be Weiss Schnee, her former college roommate, project partner and one of her closest friends. And she was still as beautiful as the first day she met her at the dorms when crashed on her. She blushed at that last thought.

"Ruby?"

She blinked at the sound of her name. "Poggers !"

"..."

A deafening silence settled as Ruby was having an internal crisis about her less than stellar eloquent skills. She just short circuited and blabbered the first word that came to her mind.

A sudden fit of giggles brought her back to reality. Weiss was laughing heartily.

"Goodness after all this time you're still such a dolt."

Ruby gave her a goofy grin. "Heh you're still calling me dolt."

Weiss rolled her eyes then her lips quirked into a small smile. "Hi Ruby."

"Hey Weiss."

"Ugh! Poggers! The first time I saw Weiss in ages and I said poggers!" Ruby had her hands shoved in her face as she cried out in embarrassment.

The interviewer chuckled. "How do you feel about seeing her again?"

"I…missed her. We were really close in college and we had tons of fun really. After graduation… Well life happened and we kinda drifted apart."

"And now you got reunited here on Beacon of Love, it almost feels like destiny."

Ruby blushed slightly and rubbed the back of her neck. "Heh when you put it that way… I really want to believe it."

The interviewer raised his eyebrow. "Do you now?"

"I…" Ruby's shoulder slumped as she sighed. "Might as well be open about it now. I kinda had a small crush on Weiss back then…"

"Really?"

"Well maybe not so small?... Yeah okay I had it bad but I didn't want to ruin what we had. Weiss… she…she was troubled and in a bad place, going to Vale was an opportunity for her to really discover herself, to know more about life and just be free... I didn't want to bother her with my silly feelings."

"Well it didn't seem that way on that dinner date."

Ruby blushed as she remembered the date. Everything she said was true, and after all this time she thought she had just moved on. But there was a reason why she never felt the same way for anyone else, a reason why no matter how many times she went on dates it never felt right. And that reason became all so apparent the moment she saw Weiss again in that apartment. A spark that ignited itself ablaze at the contact of piercing blue eyes. So she told herself why not?

After the first contact in the apartment, Ruby and Weiss set off to their dinner date. It was meant to break the ice, so to speak, and get to know each other over a tasty meal. But in their case it was a nice opportunity to catch up. Weiss was relieved that she didn't have to go through the awkwardness of a first date with a stranger, maybe taking part in this dating show wasn't such a bad idea after all…She blushed and shook her head before her thoughts could go any further.

As their cab stopped at their destination, Ruby immediately hopped off the car to open Weiss's door. She extended her hand while slightly bowing her head. "M'lady."

Weiss's cheeks pinked slightly and took her hand, offering the red haired girl a small smile, as they made it to their seats, Ruby made another chivalrous gesture and pulled Weiss's chair.

The white haired giggled. "Oh my Ruby, such a gentlewoman."

Ruby grinned. "I try."

"You don't have to do that, I know they probably told you to… play the part in front of the cameras but you really don't need to indulge them"

Ruby frowned, she was about to speak when a waiter came to give them their menu. As Weiss was browsing it, Ruby just stared at her.

"I wasn't playing the part."

Weiss perked up. "What ?"

Ruby just smiled. "I wasn't playing the part. Now let's see what we have here."

Weiss' widened in realization as she quickly lifted the menu in front of her face to hide her furious blush. This wasn't what she expected.

She quickly recovered busying herself with the variety of food choices before her. As they finally settled and waited for their food, they took the chance to catch up. Weiss was pleased to see that Ruby had kept up with her company. Soon after, their meals arrived and they continued chatting over it about nothing and everything.

As Ruby was eating and blabbering at the same, Weiss spotted some barbecue sauce on the corner of your mouth. She leaned over the table, grabbed her by the chin and wiped the sauce with a napkin.

"You dolt, don't talk with your mouth full." She raised a brow at Ruby's reddened face then smirked. She liked the fact that she was making her blush.

After finishing their food, they just sat in a comfortable silence, sipping their drinks. Ruby contemplated Weiss for a few moments then spoke up.

"Hey Weiss, do you wanna do something fun?"

"...define fun."

Ruby just smiled. "Do you trust me?"

For a second she lost herself in Ruby's eyes as they glimmered with excitement. She had almost forgotten how her eyes could be so enticing. "Of course."

Ruby's smile turned into a grin. "Take your mic off…. Come on Weiss~"

Weiss rolled her eyes but did what she was told anyways. Then Ruby abruptly stood up, left some Lien on the table then grabbed her hand.

"Let's go!" With that Ruby ran out of the restaurant dragging Weiss and leaving confused cameramen.

"Ruby! Slow down, I'm wearing heels!"

Ruby stopped dead on her tracks, she turned to Weiss rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly. "S-sorry! I… didn't think about that."

Weiss huffed. "What is it even about?"

Ruby put her hands in her pockets as she began rocking back and forth on the ball of her feet. "Well...I really had fun at the restaurant but…I noticed you were a bit tensed up? I mean I thought the cameras bothered you…in the beginning I kinda forgot about them but then I saw you weren't fully relaxed so I thought why not have a little escape and go have ice cream or something just the two of us … alone."

Weiss stared blankly at her then grabbed her hand. "Let's go get ice cream."

Ruby's sweet gesture touched her and the fact that she could still read her so well warmed her heart. It made so light and giddy she didn't know how to react. Needless to say she greatly enjoyed their little adventure at the ice cream parlor, watching Ruby balance an enormous horn ice cream with God knows how many flavors, and watching her devour it instantly was an entertainment on its own. When she finished her face was a total mess, she looked ridiculous. Weiss couldn't suppress her laugh. It was really incredible how Ruby just made her feel at ease… and just happy.

After their little nightly 'getaway', they headed back to the apartment. Thankfully the crew weren't mad at them and just brushed it off.

"Soo… today was fun." Ruby was standing in front of Weiss's room, she insisted on seeing her off there.

Weiss smiled happily at her. "Indeed."

Ruby blushed then cleared her throat. "So I just wanted to clarify one thing. What I said earlier in the restaurant… I'm not playing or showing off to the cameras, I really want to give this a shot today was great awesome even and mmph-"

Ruby was interrupted by Weiss yanking her by the collar and kissing her. Ruby froze at first then melted into the kiss wrapping her arms around the petite girl.

Weiss broke the kiss then slid off her arms. "Goodnight Ruby." She closed the door leaving a completely dazed Ruby.

The few weeks following the date had been heavenly if you asked the candy caned duo. They took part in a plethora of activities, from going to the amusement park or the arcades to even an adventure park. Weiss was against it initially but one look at those silver puppy dog eyes and she was sold. She certainly didn't like how Ruby effortlessly picked her up and carried her through a series of obstacles when she had been stalling.

"Hehe, you're just so light and fun sized." Ruby giggled.

"S-shut up you dolt." She half-heartedly hit Ruby's shoulder.

Sometimes they would just stay home lazing around playing games or just watching movies. Weiss had been particularly emotional after watching the Lion King which led her to fall asleep on Ruby's bed as they cuddled. After that, Weiss could hardly be seen sleeping in her own room, when the interviewer commented on that she just huffed, cheeks turning rosy, and said that the nights were getting cold and Ruby was like a space heater.

"I realized that I never apologized to you…" Weiss said as she interlaced her fingers with Ruby's. They were taking an evening stroll at the park near the apartment building.

Ruby tilted her head and looked down at her in confusion. "For what?"

Weiss stopped then faced Ruby. "For not keeping in touch. I… you were my first real friend, the first person who saw me as just me, Weiss and nothing else. If it weren't for you I wouldn't be where I am today because you believed in me like no one else did before…"

Ruby beamed brightly then grasped both of Weiss's hands to place a delicate kiss on her knuckles. "I will always believe in you."

Weiss gave her a timid smile. "I know… after graduation, Jacques harshly reminded me that playtime was over and I needed to be a Schnee… he wanted his puppet back. So I gritted my teeth and played by his rules while carefully preparing my coup, he never saw it coming and… well you know the rest but… I…"

"Hey, look at me." Weiss looked up into dazzling silver eyes. "You have absolutely nothing to apologize for. You did what you had to do and I'm proud of you. What matters is that we're here together and I-I…" 'I love you' Ruby didn't know if she could say those three words. Was it too forward? Too soon? Maybe she had fallen for Weiss in college and her feelings were just dormant all this time.

She was sure of one thing though, she hadn't felt so wholesome in a long time. As to not blabber out a vomit of feelings, she dived down to kiss Weiss who happily reciprocated and sighed into it.

They didn't get to enjoy it much longer as a drizzle fell on them and then rapidly transformed into a heavy downpour. Ruby raised her hand to the sky and giggled.

"Weiss, let's dance!" She began twirling and jumping on puddles of water.

"Ruby! We're getting all drenched!"

Weiss's protests fell on deaf ears as Ruby grabbed by the waist and began waltzing.

"I'm singing in the rain~ I'm singing in the rain~~ come on Weiss!"

Weiss couldn't keep her frown much longer. She laughed as Ruby spinned her. "God! Ruby you're off tune!"

Ruby continued singing, Weiss soon joining her. They danced, sang and giggled under the rain, enjoying their own little world.

They eventually went home and were now laying in bed, fresh out of shower and having enjoyed a good dose of hot cocoa. They simply basked into each other's presence.

"Y'know my mom used to tell me this to comfort me when I had a nightmare." Weiss murmured. "She told me to imagine a secret door, inside it would be my safe haven, a place where nothing could harm me." She reached out to cup Ruby's cheek. "Before I got to run the company… when things were too much I used to imagine us behind that door, in our dorm room studying… or just be."

Ruby took Weiss's other hand and placed it on her chest. "You're my safe haven too."

"Are you nervous about tomorrow?" The interviewer asked Weiss. A month had already passed and tomorrow they would decide whether to pursue their relationship or put an end to it.

Weiss huffed. "Of course I am."

"According to what we've seen, the past month has been pretty agreeable for both of you."

"But what if it had been just that? Just a fleeting agreeable infatuation that lasted only for a month." Weiss began playing with her hands.

"Well you still have one more night to think about it."

Weiss sighed. "I just hope we'll be on the same wavelength."

Ruby and Weiss were at the TV studio of Beacon of Love. They sat facing each other as the make up artist tended to them, nervousness clearly apparent on their faces. They took a deep breath as all was set and it was their cue to begin.

Weiss spoke first. "Ruby...the past month has been wonderful. It was like breath of fresh air, as if I was in apnea this whole time only ever getting small glimpses at the surface and… what I'm trying to say is that meeting you was the best thing that had happened to me, you put colors into my life, you bring me so much warmth and comfort, your smiles give me joy and when I look into your eyes I feel like home so...I would very much like to keep dating you."

Weiss braced herself as Ruby looked at her dead in the eyes. "Weiss. I don't think we should be dating."

Her heart sank.

"In fact." Ruby stood up then stepped in front of Weiss, a velvet box in hand. "I think we should get married." She bent in one knee and opened the box displaying a golden ring with a red ruby and roses crafted around it.

Weiss gasped and looked at the ring with wide eyes hardly believing what was happening. Ruby took it as a bad sign and began shifting in place.

"W-was it too soon? I-I mean I'm okay with dating too if that's wha-"

Weiss leaped into Ruby hugging her tightly. "Yes! Of course! Absolutely!"

Ruby sighed in relief into Weiss's shoulder. "I'm glad...I.. I love you."

Weiss cupped her cheeks and kissed her. "I love you too my dolt."
