"Whew!" Patrick said upon seeing Ed's arrow in front of him and SpongeBob. "In the wrong hands, this thing could be dangerous."
"Yep." SpongeBob agreed as they walked past the arrow and into the Bowditch parking lot.
"Wow!" they exclaimed, marveling at the school.
"Who knew Bowditch would be this...wide!" said Patrick.
"Yeah, it's so different compared to Foster City School." agreed SpongeBob. "Come on, let's take a closer look."
He and Patrick hurried through the lot.
As he followed SpongeBob past the office, Patrick tripped.
Inside, Brit and Tiff heard the thud. They turned but saw no one out there.
Patrick caught up with SpongeBob, asking him. "You think anyone saw us?"
SpongeBob looked around, then replied. "Nah, we're good."
But as they went on, they bumped into something.
"Hey, wha..." Patrick began, cutting himself short when he saw Roscoe and DeSoto in front of them, bearing their teeth.
"Run?" asked Patrick.
"Run!" answered SpongeBob.
They took off, screaming in panic, with the barking Roscoe and DeSoto not far behind.
I was about to take my shot at one of the targets when I heard them.
"SpongeBob? Patrick?"
Odette and Daniel got out of the way just before SpongeBob and Patrick went through the bleachers, getting themselves stuck.
"What are you guys doing here?" I asked. "What's going on?"
"THERE ARE TWO MAD DOGS ON THE LOOSE!" hollered Patrick.
"What?" I said, looking behind the bleachers to see Roscoe and DeSoto getting closer.
I stood in front of them, holding up my bow and arrow, saying. "Get back! I may be new at this, but I'm not afraid to use..."
Roscoe swatted the bow and arrow away, and charged after me, SpongeBob and Patrick, along with DeSoto, as my class watched in fear.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" SpongeBob and Patrick cried.
Just as Roscoe and DeSoto were an inch closer, they were piled on...by Snoopy and Woodstock.
Roscoe and DeSoto nipped at Snoopy, who caught ahold of Woodstock's tail as the little yellow bird flew themselves away from the Dobermans' bite.
"FLY, BIRDIE! FLY!" Ed called, flapping his arms.
Woodstock tried as he could to carry Snoopy, but the extra weight was causing him to go down.
Roscoe and DeSoto made the lunge, but at the last second, Snoopy lifted his legs, causing the two Dobermans to end up in the street, where they saw a car coming towards them.
We all looked away as the car went over Roscoe and DeSoto.
"Eeew!" Snoopy and Woodstock exclaimed when they saw the condition the Dobermans were in.
Charlie Brown caught Snoopy as they went down.
"What you did was dangerously crazy, ol' pal." he said. "But at the same time, that was heroically brave."
"Rolf could not agree more." said Rolf. "In fact, how would your pets like to be part of the Urban Rangers?"
Before Charlie Brown could answer, Lucy got between them, saying. "Out of the question! Animals are not allowed to do anything."
Rolf frowned at her, saying. "Your so-called rules do not apply to us, She-Who-Also-Gives-Migranes."
After shooing Lucy away, Rolf placed the bandanas over Snoopy and Woodstock, proclaiming. "Welcome to the Urban Rangers. And here are your first badges, the 'Rescuer' badge."
"Ooooh!" Snoopy and Woodstock exclaimed, marveling at their badges.
"You also have our thanks for the save." added SpongeBob.
"Yeah, thanks." repeated Patrick.
"You'll thank us too once we get you out." Mowgli said as he and Shanti tried pulling by their legs.
"And you must be Odette." SpongeBob said upon seeing Odette, to whom he tipped his hall monitor cap. "We heard a lot about you from Nathan."
"How're ya doin'?" greeted Patrick.
Odette chuckled. "Well, it's very nice to meet you too."
"Whoa!" SpongeBob and Patrick exclaimed, for Mowgli and Shanti finally pulled them out of the bleachers.
"You guys OK?" I asked.
"Whew, we are if you are." SpongeBob replied as he brushed himself off.
"So, you know these two clowns?" Eddy asked me.
"Clowns?!" Patrick said angrily.
"Ah, ah, ah, at ease, deputy." SpongeBob said, holding him back, then turned back to Eddy. "For your information, we are not clowns...WE'RE HALL MONITORS!"
"At least one of you is."
At the sound of Amelia's voice, we all turned to see her walk towards us.
"Oh, tartar sauce." groaned SpongeBob.
"Hello, kitty!" Eddy said, gazing at Amelia's catlike appearance, before Double D slapped him in the back again.
"Ow!" groaned Eddy.
"I turn my back for one millisecond," Amelia said to SpongeBob. "And what do you do? You..."
"...thought we'd do you a favor of checking on Nathan for you." SpongeBob blurted out. "Right, Patrick?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah. Definitely." agreed Patrick.
Amelia shook her head with a sigh. "Look, Mr. Squarepants, I know you want to see Nathan at his new school, but…"
Stopping herself when Daniel took a closer look, she asked. "Do I know you?"
"No." replied Daniel. "But I know who you are…you're Amelia Smollett, one of the first students here at Bowditch!"
The rest of the class were awestruck with what they were hearing.
"Good heavens! An alumni, here?" Double D panicked, pulling out his row of ties. "What do you think? Plaid? Stripes. Perhaps more conservative, yes?"
Amelia chuckled. "Don't worry yourself, young man. You're fine as you are, tie or no tie."
She, then, eyed the bows, arrows, and targets.
"Oh, I see you're trying to bring archery back into PE." she said to Daniel, who replied. "Well, from what I've seen in the first yearbook, you were quite the skilled archer. In fact, you were my inspiration to be equally skillful."
"Looks like you've got some competition, eh, Rolf?" asked Eddy.
"Poppycock!" Rolf scoffed, then said to Amelia. "If you are as skillful as he says you are, let's see you hit one of these targets."
"Yeah, let's see it!" agreed Jonny.
Soon, everyone asked the same thing to Amelia, who said. "Oh, no, no, no, no. It's been a long while since I've done this."
"I'll bet it hasn't been that long." Daniel replied, handing her a bow and arrow. "Just show us you still got it."
"Oh, I couldn't possibly, but..." Amelia said, then shot her arrow at the water fountain, where it ricocheted towards the target, to our astonishment.
"Wow!" exclaimed Patrick.
"Yeah, wow!" agreed SpongeBob.
"This is amazing!" exclaimed Dexter.
The rest of the class clapped, cheered and whistled at Amelia, who took a bow.
"So, riddle me this." Eddy said as he made his way through. "What Nathan was saying about those big bad Alphas and Omegas taking over Foster City School, are they true?"
"Pfft, are they true?" repeated Patrick.
"Well, now that is worth telling." said SpongeBob.
"But, that's going to have to wait for another time." interrupted Amelia. "Because it's time for us to go."
The class groaned at what they were hearing.
SpongeBob cleared his throat, then, said to me. "We'll see you back at home, Nathan."
"Nosy catwoman." muttered Patrick as he walked away with SpongeBob.
"I can hear you, Mr. Star!" Amelia called out.
"Sorry." said Patrick.
"Although it was a short visit, Amelia." said Daniel. "You just made our day."
"Yes, I…suppose I did." admitted Amelia. "Even if it was unexpected."
She placed the bow in my hands, giving me a nod, then said to the class. "Keep practicing, all!"
The class waved and called goodbye as Amelia caught up with SpongeBob and Patrick.
Daniel clapped his hands together. "OK, guys. Let's pick it up. You too, Lucy! There's still a few minutes of PE left."
"Well, that was exhilarating, meeting the very first Bowditch alumni." Double D said as the class went back to their target practicing.
"Yeah, especially when she's so fetching." added Eddy, whom Double D slapped again.
"Will you stop doing that?" he asked, feeling annoyed.
Odette, meanwhile, noticed me sitting on the bleachers, where she sat beside me, asking. "You alright?"
"Those stories about the Alphas and Omegas taking over Foster City School are true." I said. "Everyone seems to believe them...except for Eddy."
Odette placed her hand on my shoulder, saying with a little smile. "I believe them."
I smiled back a bit while placing my hand on top of her own.
"And I wouldn't mind going inside there myself." Odette added.
My eyes widened with surprise when she said that.
"You wanted to go into Foster City School?" I asked.
"Of course." replied Odette. "It meant a lot to you all these years. So, it would make sense to see where you used to go."
I looked past her to see that Amelia, SpongeBob and Patrick were already gone.
"I'll talk it over with the Imaginaries." I said to Odette. "But we have to do this when everyone is completely out of there."
"Will Wednesday work?"
At the sound of Daniel's voice, Odette and I turned to see him by the bleachers, saying. "They'll probably be out by then."
On hearing the conversation, Lucy quietly slipped away from the class.
Inside the office, where Roscoe and DeSoto lay whimpering after their collision with the car, Kevin told his report to the Crust Cousins.
"He asked her on a DATE?!" Tiff asked angrily.
"Well, he didn't say the actual word, though, but something like that." replied Kevin.
"Oooh, this has gone too far! I'm gonna..." Tiff said, only to be held back by Brit, who said. "Tiff, heel! Let them have their little date."
"Have you lost your mind, girl?" asked Tiff.
"Quite the opposite, actually." Brit said as she placed a paper shredder on the desk, then held out the letters.
Seeing what Brit was doing, Tiff smiled wickedly.
"What are those?" asked Kevin.
"Responses from the invitees that are coming to Thursday's ball." explained Brit, who placed the letters on the shredder, which she turned on. "But by the time they get here, we will be the ones having the ball!"
Brit and Tiff laughed as the letters went through the shredder, destroyed.
