AN: This didn't take a while.
Jade was suddenly very glad she had decided to stick around the Academy for the day to see Naruto show off Minato's kunai.
Him drawing it out had earned the expected awestruck looks, the shouts of it being 'so cool', and the kids were already clamoring to hold it until the teacher, a Shinobi by the name of Iruka Umino, brought the classroom back to order. Jade had already decided seeing that alone was worth sticking around, how quickly the rambunctious kids found their seats again and Naruto got back to describing more about Minato's famous teleportation technique.
He didn't know much about how it actually worked but he made up for it with enthusiasm and plenty of sound effects. She had been close to outright laughing from her spot in the back more than once with how over the top he was.
"POW!"
"SWOOSH!"
"FWOOSH!"
"SLICE!"
"And when Dad really wants to he can BZZT and ZOOM!"
Of course, the real main event had been when Naruto had thrown the kunai.
And Minato had caught it.
The Hokage showing up for a glorified show-and-tell had caused quite the stir at the Academy.
The fact he had started showing off his hard-won skills to not only one classroom but the entire Academy? It was worth its weight in gold to see firsthand.
The fact that Naruto's smile had only gotten bigger the moment his dad showed up? Priceless.
She was sure Iruka still hadn't picked his jaw up off the floor yet, none of the teachers really. Most of the kids had run out to their parents all but screaming about how cool Minato was, how awesome the Hokage was.
"That was great kid! Definitely worth sticking around." Jade couldn't help but smile as she headed out the Academy with Naruto on her back. The blonde was still talking a mile a minute about how cool it was for his Dad to show up, how it made his the best presentation today.
He had no problem talking all the way home, Jade sending him off to get changed and get started on his homework before they could head out and play. She could only shake her head at just how energetic Naruto still was even after all the excitement of today. He was all but bouncing off the walls.
"Did I have that much energy as a kid?" She couldn't help her smile as she thought back. "Yeah. I was probably worse."
As much as she helped Uncle Jackie out on his crazy adventures and too many to count "bad days", she could also admit she had been the one giving him headache after headache with her antics as a kid. She had still given Captain Black his fair share of headaches with her antics by the time of her last mission with Section 13.
She was pretty sure the two met at least once a week to talk about all their 'Jadeaches'.
"At least I could never walk on walls like Naruto." She sent a Shadowkhan off to let Minato know she was back with Naruto.
She didn't expect to get a scroll back from the Hokage.
"Huh." It wasn't exactly new but this was the first time in a while that Minato had sent something back to her. "Wonder what he couldn't tell me when he was busy showing off to the kids." She broke open the scroll with one sharp nail, red eyes looking over the message inside.
By the end of it, she just rose a dark eyebrow. She sent the scroll back with her answer, a frown gradually working its way over her face.
'Weird but sounds easy.'
She put the strange message out of her mind, put a smile on her face as she walked through the door. Naruto was at least actually doing his homework, the kid hyperactive but he could focus when he needed to. He just always complained that the homework the Academy assigned was boring, had to wrangled into doing it by either Minato or Jade when he first started.
Kushina was a bit too ready to tell him to ignore his homework and have fun with his friends to be part of that.
"So, what do you have tonight." Jade dropped into the chair a Shadowkhan moved next to Naruto, made a show of leaning over his shoulder to see the paper in front of him.
"Shinobi History!" Naruto already seemed set to throw in the towel, groaned as he waved towards the three books he had laid out on the table. "We don't even learn anything cool that happened! It's all just a bunch of dates. 'When did the Second Hokage establish the Academy?' or 'How many clans joined the Senju and Uchiha?'. It's always so boring!"
"Oof. I feel sorry for you kid." Jade laughed, leaned back in her seat. She actually couldn't even help him here. She knew just over the bare minimum about this world's history, had picked up a fair handful of it when Kushina was still in school but she had forgotten pretty much all of it by now.
"Class was really fun today but now I've got to do all this boring stuff!" Naruto dropped his head onto the table, bright blue eyes glancing at Jade. "Did you have to do boring stuff like this Jade-chan?"
"Oh yeah. All the time when I was your age." Jade dragged a book over using a tendril of Shadow Magic from her raised finger, settled in for a long homework session. "My stuff was all different than yours but I had to do all the same tests and essays you have to." She could only shake her head. "History's a lot more useful than you think."
'At least Uncle Jackie would say so.'
"Really?" He didn't seem to believe her by the way he squinted at her, the near frown on his face. She didn't blame him. If she heard herself saw something like that at his age she would think the same.
"Really." She needed a minute to find what chapter he was on. "Now, let's knock this out so we can go goof off."
"Alright." Naruto didn't sound happy about having to do his homework but he seemed willing to keep at it as long as she was there suffering with him.
AN: May become consistent still.
Review/PM if you want.
