Harry had enjoyed his summer immensely. He had finally met his older sister and couldn't have been happier. At first, he had been afraid that his parents would push him aside for Mia, but then he had realized that these were silly fears and that Mia was the best sister in the world. Despite Mia and her friends having a busy social schedule as public figures in the Muggle world, Mia always found time to talk to Harry, she promised him that he could write to her anytime he wanted.
And that summer, they celebrated Mia's birthday together for the first time. Well, technically, they had been invited by Mia to her birthday party, which had a Greek mythology theme. His sister was dressed as Helen of Troy, and her friends Jace and Theo were dressed as Paris and Hector. During the party, Jace had said in his speech, "A thousand battles were fought for Helen of Troy, and no doubt a thousand and one more would be fought for you, princess."
Harry couldn't agree more. His sister was not only kind but also very beautiful.
As the summer days slipped away, they finally had to say their goodbyes. Harry and Draco were headed to Hogwarts, while Mia, Theo, and Jace were going to Durmstrang. Harry was a little sad that he wouldn't be able to see his sister every day, but Mia had promised him that they would see each other on Yule.
On the day of their departure, Harry and Draco were on the Hogwarts Express, looking for an empty compartment when they heard Ron's voice calling out to them. In the compartment, they found Pansy, Ron ,Blaise and Neville. Harry's face lit up with joy at the sight of his friends.
"Harry!" Ron exclaimed, giving him a hearty hug. "We missed you, mate."
Harry grinned as he embraced his friends. "I missed you guys too. It's good to be back."
Pansy turned to Harry, her eyes sparkling with intrigue, and asked, "Harry, what was it like to meet your older sister for the first time?"
Harry's face lit up, and he couldn't contain his excitement as he launched into his tale. "Oh, Pans, meeting Mia was incredible! She's the best sister anyone could ask for." He then proceeded to regale Pansy with all the adventures and bonding moments he had shared with Mia over the summer. "Theo and Jace, they're amazing too. They treat me like a little brother. We played Quidditch together with Mia, and they helped me practice so much. It was great."
However, at the mention of Jace's name, Draco couldn't help but snort derisively. He crossed his arms, clearly harboring some reservations.
Blaise noticed Draco's reaction and leaned closer to him. "What's wrong with you, Draco?"
Harry, amused by Draco's irritation, chimed in. "Well, you see, Blaise, Draco and Mia's friends don't get along."
Draco huffed, his frustration evident as he exclaimed, "Jace, that fucker! He makes me call him His Royal Highness every time I want to talk to him."
Ron and Blaise exchanged amused glances, trying to stifle their laughter. Pointing at Draco, they burst into giggles, and Draco's face grew redder with embarrassment.
Neville, still trying to wrap his head around the situation, asked, "Why on earth is Mia's best friend forcing you to call him His Royal Highness?"
Harry leaned back in his seat, ready to explain. "Well, you see, both Mia and Jace come from two of the oldest European families in the Muggle world, the Grimaldi and the Borghese. So, at formal events and such, they're supposed to be addressed as Her Royal Highness and His Royal Highness."
Pansy's eyes sparkled with excitement as she leaned forward and asked Harry, "Harry, wait, is Mia a princess?"
Harry nodded, a proud smile on his face. "Yes, she is. She goes to many important parties and charity galas."
Pansy's imagination ran wild with the idea of Mia being a princess, and she couldn't contain her enthusiasm. "Harry, do you think your sister could take me to an Italian fashion show someday? I've always dreamt of attending one."
Harry considered her request and then replied, "Well, you could try asking Mia yourself, or I could mention it to her when I write to her."
However, Blaise, feeling slightly offended by Pansy's request, interjected, "Pansy, I can take you to an Italian fashion show. I don't need a royal family for that."
Pansy stuck her tongue out at Blaise playfully and retorted, "Blaise, you may not need a royal family, but it would certainly add a touch of glamour to the whole experience."
In James's spacious office at the Ministry, a serious discussion was underway. Seated around a polished wooden table were James, Lily, Isabelle and Enzo. They were engrossed in the matter of how to proceed with Mia.
James leaned forward, directing his question to Isabelle. "Has Mia made a decision about what she wants to do with her name?"
Enzo, who had been updated by Mia on this matter, spoke up. "Yes, Mia mentioned that she'd like to have a compound surname, Borghese-Potter."
Lily, intrigued, inquired further. "And what did she say about her first name?"
Isabelle explained, "Mia has agreed to officially change her name to Hermione, but she still prefers to be called Mia. However, she wants to keep both middle names."
James couldn't help but chuckle at the complexity of the name. "So, officially, it'll be Hermione Lucrezia Cassiopeia Borghese-Potter. That's quite a mouthful."
"What do we do about custody? Going to trial would only hurt Mia, and she's the one who has the most at stake. She might feel like we're trying to take her away from you, Isabelle, and Lorenzo. Plus, the judge will consider Mia's wishes since she's a minor." Lily shifted the conversation
Enzo nodded in agreement, adding, "Mia has public commitments in the Muggle world due to being the only heir of the Borghese. Currently, as a minor, she only attends parties and some events, but when she comes of age, her social agenda will increase."
James, understanding the complexity of the situation, expressed his thoughts. "I would like Mia to live with us for a while, but I also recognize her commitments."
Isabelle shed light on Mia's educational plans. "Mia wishes to complete her education at Durmstrang. However, she's informed us that two years from now the Triwizard Tournament will take place in Hogwarts, and she'll be spending the entire year at Hogwarts."
Lily, looking thoughtful, asked for clarification. "What does that mean for you and Enzo?"
Isabelle clarified their plan. "During the year Mia is at Hogwarts, she can live with you. Enzo and I will move to the Rosier mansion in London to be closer to her. For the time being we can start with school breaks"
James and Lily exchanged glances, contemplating the arrangement. They nodded in agreement, willing to make things work for Mia.
Enzo couldn't help but tease James. "Looks like you'll need two more rooms in the Potter mansion."
James raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Why's that?"
Enzo chuckled. "Theo and Jace aren't going anywhere without Mia."
Isabelle joined in the laughter, providing additional context. "Normally, we spend Christmas in Monaco, New Year's in Vienna, Easter between London and Monaco, and our summer holidays in the USA and Italy or wherever the kids want."
James was curious. "Why the USA?"
Enzo revealed, "Eloise, Jace's mother, is the current President there."
James cleared his throat,"I'd like to give Mia what's rightfully hers, the things she had when she was a little girl."
Isabelle nodded in agreement, her eyes softening with understanding. "Mia mentioned she's been in touch with Harry, and we're planning to host a Yule dinner. You can give her whatever you want then."
Lily, a bit more shyly, chimed in, "Isabelle, do you happen to have any photos of Mia when she was little?"
Isabelle's face brightened, and she nodded. "Yes, I do. Would you like to see them?"
Lily nodded eagerly, and Isabelle promised, "I'll give you a copy at Christmas."
Enzo added to the conversation, his tone serious. "A lot can come out of this conversation, this can change depending on what Mia wants, above all we want her happiness."
Suddenly, James asked a more sensitive question. "Has Mia said anything about returning to her original appearance?"
Isabelle paused for a moment before responding, "No, she hasn't. We haven't discussed it with her. It was already challenging to address the name change, so the topic of appearance is out of the question."
Lily nodded in understanding. "I can imagine. It must be strange for her to take on the appearance of strangers she doesn't know."
Enzo chimed in, providing some insight. "We've dropped hints, but Mia has been ignoring them. Despite how it may seem, she's struggling to adjust to all of this."
Lily looked concerned and asked, "Why?"
Isabelle explained, "It's primarily due to the surname issue. In her first year, Mia had two boys teasing her because my maiden name was Rosier. Having the surname Potter and suddenly becoming the daughter of one of the most famous wizarding families in London feels like exchanging one cage for another."
Lily, surprised by this revelation, glanced at James. "Did you know about this, James?"
James nodded somberly. "Yes, Theo mentioned it to me."
Isabelle added, "As you've probably noticed, Theo and Jace are quite protective."
Lily, with a hint of mischief, joked, "So, is there something going on between Mia and Jace?"
Isabelle, her tone more serious, denied any romantic involvement. "No, there isn't."
Lily raised an eyebrow skeptically. "You're lying to me, Isabelle."
Isabelle sighed softly, her expression softening. "It's not my story to tell. Mia, Jace, and Theo have their secrets. That's just how it's been since they were kids."
Regulus stood at Pandora's doorstep, a hint of apprehension in his eyes. He pressed the doorbell, and Pandora appeared, her face marked with a frown. "What do you want?" she asked, her tone cold.
Regulus cleared his throat, his nerves showing as he replied, "I just wanted to talk to you about something personal." Pandora hesitated but finally allowed him inside.
They sat down at the kitchen table, tension filling the room. Pandora offered, "Tea? Or something to drink?"
Regulus declined her offer, opting to get straight to the point. He looked into Pandora's eyes and asked, "Who killed Evan?"
Pandora's expression remained guarded as she responded, "I don't know."
Regulus persisted, his determination evident. "Who found Evan dead and alerted the Aurors?"
Pandora maintained her stance. "I don't know."
Regulus grew more insistent. "Pandora, I know you know."
Her frustration boiled over as she snapped, "Don't you dare try to read my mind."
Regulus wasn't deterred. "Tell me who found Evan dead."
Pandora couldn't contain her anger any longer. "It was Barty."
Regulus was taken aback. "Barty?"
Pandora's tone was biting. "Why is that so hard to believe? After all, Barty and Evan were best friends."
Regulus ran his hand through his hair in frustration. "How did you find out about Evan's death?"
Pandora's response was laden with bitterness. "Barty showed up one night, covered in blood, saying that Evan was dead."
Regulus pressed further. "Do you know anything else?"
Pandora, her patience wearing thin, retorted, "Why do you suddenly care?"
Regulus reminded her, "Because we're friends."
Pandora corrected him angrily, "We were friends, past tense."
Regulus couldn't hide his confusion. "I don't understand you."
Frustration welled up within Pandora as she explained, "We stopped being friends the moment Sirius spoke to you again."
Regulus raised his voice, exasperated. "He's my big brother, Pandora! You know what he means to me."
Pandora acknowledged that fact but stood her ground. "I do, but that's no reason to forget about Barty, Evan, and me."
Regulus insisted, "I haven't forgotten about you."
Pandora countered with bitterness in her voice, "Yes, you have. The moment Sirius welcomed you back with open arms, you completely forgot about Barty, Evan, and me."
Regulus was growing more frustrated by the minute. He implored, "Do you have any idea how difficult it is for me to have this conversation?"
Pandora, her curiosity getting the better of her, asked Regulus, "Why is this so difficult for you?"
Regulus couldn't hold back his frustration any longer. He exploded, his words laced with anger and pain, "Because Evan kidnapped my goddaughter Hermione eleven years ago. He robbed her of the chance to grow up with her biological parents."
Pandora was taken aback. "I didn't know that."
Regulus, his voice softer now, clarified, "I'm not telling you to change your mind about Evan. I just needed you to know the truth."
Pandora, still puzzled, asked, "Why are you asking me so many questions?"
Regulus, his patience wearing thin, revealed, "The Dark Mark was seen earlier in the summer in Hyde Park."
Pandora looked concerned but still puzzled. "What does that have to do with Evan?"
Regulus explained, his voice grave, "I think Barty is taking revenge for Evan's death. And if we don't find him sooner rather than later, it could trigger a Second Wizarding War."
Pandora, realizing the gravity of the situation, said, "I don't know where Barty lives now."
Regulus implored, "I need your help to find him. If the Aurors find him first, they'll hurt him."
As Regulus prepared to leave, Pandora's voice stopped him. "Be careful, Regulus. There are wolves in sheep's clothing. One last thing, I find it rather curious that your goddaughter has the same name as Helen of Troy's daughter."
Mia, Jace, and Theo had been determined to become Animagi after their Care of Magical Creatures class. They had spent hours in the library, poring over books in search of information on the complex transformation process, but their efforts had yielded little success.
Frustrated yet hopeful, Mia decided to reach out to her godfather, Regulus, for guidance. She penned a letter asking if he had any information on becoming an Animagus. Regulus, always looking out for her, responded by telling her to speak to James.
A week later, Mia received a letter from James, her newfound father, in response to her inquiry.
"Hi Mia,
I am glad to hear from you! How are your classes going? In answer to your question, I do know how to become an Animagus, after all, I am one. I'm glad to know my daughter is following in my footsteps, but don't tell Lily or she'll kill me."
Mia couldn't help but chuckle at James's playful tone. She continued reading.
"The process is quite complicated, but I'm sure that Jace, Theo, and you won't have many problems. The first step is that you have to carry a single Mandrake leaf in your mouth for an entire month – from full moon to full moon to be precise. If you swallow the leaf or remove it from your mouth at any point, you have to start the whole thing again. I've sent you several in case you spit it out."
James went on to describe the various ingredients and steps required for the transformation process in great detail. He explained the need for a crystal phial, dew, and a Death's-head Hawk Moth chrysalis. He emphasized the importance of waiting for an electrical storm to complete the potion, the need for specific incantations, and even offered advice on handling the transformation itself.
Mia was impressed by James's thoroughness and was grateful for his willingness to share this valuable information with her.
Please tell me what Animagus form you take
Love, James.
p.s See you in Yule!"
Mia, Jace, and Theo had spent the entire week in heated discussions about the best way to handle the Mandrake leaf. Theo, the most skilled in Potions among the trio, had been tasked with preparing the potion, which they had carefully concealed in Mia's room. They weren't concerned about anyone interfering with their plans; their reputations for being formidable witches and wizards were well-known, and few dared to challenge them to a duel.
November had arrived, and they were growing impatient. They needed an electrical storm to complete their transformation into Animagi. While it had been raining steadily for a week, there had been no thunderstorms in sight. But one night, as they lay in wait, the sky began to roar, and rain poured down harder than ever.
Jace and Theo burst into Mia's room, startling her from her slumber. She jolted awake to find her friends wearing identical smirked.
"Star, grab a jacket and some spare clothes and come with us." Theo urged her.
Jace added, "There's a thunderstorm coming, princess. Tonight's the night."
Excitement coursed through Mia as she hurried to gather her things, making sure she had the vials containing the potion. Without a moment's hesitation, she followed Jace and Theo out of the room.
The rain was torrential as they entered the forest. Mia distributed the vials to each of her friends.
Theo cautioned them to wait, "We need lighting for this to work out."
Then, as if the storm had been listening to their desires, the sky unleashed a thunderous roar, and lightning streaked across the heavens. In unison, Mia, Jace, and Theo drank the potion. Initially, nothing seemed to happen, and they exchanged concerned glances. However, their worries were short-lived as Theo suddenly screamed in pain and fell to the ground. Before Mia and Jace could react, Jace too collapsed, writhing.
Mia watched in horror as her friends suffered, and she herself felt a searing pain coursing through her veins. She remembered James's words, the instructions not to be afraid and to relax. She repeated them to herself as she wrestled with the agony.
Then the screams ceased. Mia felt a strange sensation, and as she looked down at herself, she realized that her legs were covered in thick, black to Theo and Jace, she saw two direwolves with matching black fur. They appeared to be smiling at her, their gleaming fangs visible. The only distinguishing feature between Theo and Jace were their eyes; Theo's were a striking violet, while Jace's were a vibrant green.
Theo and Jace playfully pounced on Mia, showering her with affectionate licks. With great effort, Mia managed to extricate herself from the enthusiastic display and ventured to the nearby lake to observe her reflection while her friends playfully chased each other.
Gazing at her reflection, she realized that she too had black fur, much like Theo and James. But her eyes, to her surprise, were not blue as she had imagined; they were hazel, a curious match to James's eye color.
