Just how many millennia had passed, hiding in the shadows for so long and now finally after all these years I can finally live in the sunlight again… With a deep sigh, he pondered about how close he was to finally being complete. A solitary vampire cast forward in time, days dragging by and nights progressing even slower.. Only hunting prey that never had a conscious thought in its head, only creatures that couldn't possibly think for themselves. Gods what a miserable existence.
Well that was up until about three weeks ago that is. Astral projection wasn't really his strong suit however, auditory compulsion, now that he was good at. He could charm the britches off of a nun with ease then sully her so deeply that even her 'God' wouldn't be able to scrub her soul clean. Meeting his current target was honestly a complete accident. One damp dreary night three weeks ago, early September if his memory still tracked correctly. Perched up on his usual shadowed rooftop just watching as all the 'cattle' below scurried around with their day to day, well more night to night, activities. Not paying too much attention to any one of them in particular if he was being honest.
Not until the cool evening breeze flittered a positively delectable scent directly into his direction. He could feel his whole body light up, like fire burning through his veins. His throat burned as if though someone had stuck a red hot fire iron down it. His pupils dilated, his fangs extended, he could barely maintain his composure. He felt hot and alive for the first time in hundreds of years. Wherever the scent was coming from, he had to find it. No, he NEEDED to find the source.
Once the scent began to wane, we cast his crimson eyes down to the street and found the origin of that amazing scent. Well, he should say, there SHE was. She was absolutely beautiful, the way her hair moved when she walked, how she glowed in the moonlight, how her hips swayed side to side as she gracefully walked on her way, determined to make whatever schedule she had. She was complete perfection, and she smelled like the finest wine he had ever tasted. He walked along the rooftops heading in the same direction she was. Silently following her, her scent was like a drug to him.
Following her but staying far enough away that she didn't know he was following her. Oh he had a plan, and he was absolutely giddy about it. Follow her home, discover her schedule, play with her subconscious just enough then 'run into her' and arrange a meet up. Oh then he'd have his prize. But he never suspected he'd actually develop such deep feelings for this creature. It happened so fast it almost made his head spin.. She was an amazing human, strong willed and so sure of what she wanted out of life. Unlike him, he was robbed of his life and God's willing he would not put her through that same hellscape. He wanted her to choose to be his on her own, he wanted that more than anything he's ever known. Even more than he wanted to rid himself of his master, that monster that ripped him away from his family all those years ago.
That was ancient history now, and that bastard got what he deserved for all the horrors he made him endure. She would be his of her own accord and he would revel in every moment in her presence. For weeks now He's been sitting outside her bedroom window as she slept, watching her, whispering suggestions to her subconscious, sweet nothings or longing to touch her, to kiss her, to be one with her. A phrase he remembered from long ago, 'Estra tu ta voulenfude" he would whisper every night as she slept. Letting the phrase saturate her sleeping brain, waiting for her to go 'just a little crazy' trying to figure it out. That day came sooner than he thought it would. He was watching her earlier in the day, as he had been for weeks now.
The opportunity seemed too good to pass up, she was perplexed by the phrase and decided to leave the house for a little while to go grocery shopping. He followed her to the store and just out of line of sight with each and every isle she snaked her way up and down until she made her way to the cashier. That's when he decided to plant himself near her and wait for the inevitable, he could hear her heartbeat, her lungs draw in her breath, how her lips moved as she mumbled his phrase to herself thinking nobody else could hear her. Her voice was like a melody to his ears, so whimsical and full of life.
Every passing second was torture for him, she smelled mouthwateringly delicious, she was absolutely beautiful, this was the moment he realized he may have miscalculated. 'shit'.. She spoke the phrase a little louder but sill inaudible to others around her, save for him. "Are you what you want." she tilted her head and looked directly into his eyes. "im sorry?" she asked him, 'shit shit shit shit', he internally panicked for a moment, slightly righted himself and responded to her. Before too much longer SHE had propositioned dinner with him. 'This is almost too easy, it should be criminal' he chuckled to himself internally.
"Eight tonight, it's a date then, ill see you later." was the last words he said to her before she gathered her things and headed back to her place. After waiting for an uncomfortable amount of time waiting for the blasted cashier to finally realize that he hadn't had any items that needed checked he followed her example and left the store. Not too much time passed before he caught up to her nearby vicinity and just like the night he first saw her, placed himself aloft on the rooftops. Like a shadow he followed her, his mind turning to the depraved carnal desires he had for her and just how he would help those desires come to pass.
'shes walking awfully fast…' he watched as her pace changed from a pleasant walk to an almost sprint. What was she scared of? Did she know he was following her? Surely not…. He kept his distance but making sure she stayed in his line of sight so he could keep her safe if any depraved human had even a remote passing interest in harming what was soon to be his, he would not hesitate in ripping out the throat of any creature that dared to harm her. And he'd do it with a smile on full display across his lips.
He watched as she ran home, threw her things inside and slammed the door, he could hear her crying and he wanted nothing more than to hold her and comfort her. She was to be his Mate after all, its expected that the male care for his mates every needs. The fact that he couldn't even enter her house to comfort her when she needed it was driving him to the brink of madness.
Some time passed while he stood just outside her front door listening to her argue with herself. Seems as though she figured out he is indeed a vampire, 'well that will cut out a lot of conversation' he chucked to himself. Slowly he heard her rise to her feet and begin putting her groceries away. Listening to her as he went about her task made him feel warm and flushed for the first time in a very long time. Her sing-song like voice, like a long lost hymn he longed to hear the crescendo of.
"I wonder if he likes the color Red." he heard her chuckle while rummaging through her clothes looking for the best and most appropriate outfit for their date later this evening. "Darling you have no idea how much I love the color Red…" he whispered to himself "My particular favorite shade is crimson" he finished his thought with a devilish smile as turned and started on his way to the diner to await her arrival.
