A/N: I do not own the Naruto anime or manga series
It should be noted with the end of the Naruto manga and Naruto Shippuden series, switching Hinata and Sakura between teams 7 and 8 has another purpose. With Hinata descendant of Hamura Otsutsuki, Hagoromo's twin brother, Naruto being reincarnation of Asura as well as descendant, and Sasuke being reincarnation of Indra and well as descendant; this is as close as I can get reuniting not only the powers of Asura and Indra but Hamaru and Hagoromo (since Asura and Indra inherit their abilities from their father).
And it's not like Sakura won't benefit from this change. Since she was a genjutsu type before training to be a medical ninja, Kurenai who is a Genjutsu specialist can teach her some Genjutsu.
The Oath of Pain
Kakashi manage to hold a kunai to Zabuza's neck after tricking Zabuza into attacking his own water clone.
"Now it's over," Kakashi said.
"Alright!" Naurto cheered.
But Zabuza just chuckled. "Finished? You really don't get it, do you? Your technique is nothing but a crass imitation. You are full of surprises, though. You'd already copied my water clone jutsu before the Hyuga girl user her Byakugan. Very skillfully executed. You had your student use the Byakugan to focus on me so I wouldn't notice your water clone take your place as you hid in the Mist. Nice try--" Zabuza appeared behind Kakashi. "But I'm not that easy to fool."
The water clone Kakashi had turned into water.
"Hey! That one was a clone too!" Naruto responded.
Zabuza swipe his Zampactoat Kakashi. Kakashi ducked, causing Zabuza to dig his sword into the ground. But then Zabuza used his Zampacto as leverage as he kicked Kakashi, sending him flying.
"Now!" Zabuza took his zampacto and ran toward Kakashi before seeing there was spikes on the ground. "Spike-- trying to slow me down. Foolish!" Zabuza disappeared as Kakashi landed in the water.
"Sensei!" Naruto responded.
Kakashi rose from the water noticing something wrong. This isn't normal water. It's dense. Heavy."
Zabuza appeared behidn Kakashi and made a series of hand signs and stopped with his palms facing Kakashi. "Water Prison Jutsu!"
Water surrounded Kakashi into a dense sphere that held him in place.
Escaping through the water--bad mistake. Kakashi noted.
Zabuza held his jutsu with one hand. "That prison is made out of water, but it's stronger than steel. It's hard to fight when you can't move. So much for the great Kakashi. I'll finish you off later. But first your little friends will have to be eliminated." Zabuza made a single hand handsign. "Water Clone Jutsu!"
Water formed into a clone of Zabuza.
"You think wearing a headband makes you a ninja. When you hovered between life and death so many times it doesn't faze you, then you may be called a ninja. When you become so deadly, your profile is entered int my bingo book, then you may have earned the title ninja. But to call upstarts like you ninja is a joke."
THe water clone made a handsign and created a thick mist once more.
"He disappeared again," Naruto thought before Zabuza appeared and kicked him sending Naruto flying. Naruto's headband undone itself and landed on the ground beside the water clone who just step on it.
"You're just b-!" The water clone said.
"Naruto!" Hinata responded.
"Listen! Get the Bridge builder and run! You can't win this fight!" Kakashi ordered. "He's using all his power to keep me in this prison. So he can only fight you with his water clone. But the clone can't go far from his real body. If you get away from him, he can't follow. Now run!"
"Run away? Not an option." Sasuke thought. "That became unthinkable the moment you got caught. No matter how fast we run or how far we go, he'll track us down and wipe us out. Hinata might see him coming with her Byakugan, but it means nothing if we can't defend ourselves against him. In the end, if we;re on our own, we're finished. Our only chance of survival is to rescue you."
"We got to do it," Sasuke said as he charged at the water clone throwing as many shurikens as he can.
But the water clone took his zampacto and used it to block the shurikens. Sasuke jumped in the air and tried for an attack from above. But the water clone just grabbed Sasuke by the throat and threw him across the ground.
"He got Sasuke!" Naruto responded turning to Zabuza in fear. "So this is what a Jonin is. A true elite ninja. I-I got to get away. If I don't--seriously--he'll annihilate me!"
Naruto used his bandaged hand to try and get up only to feel a sharp pain, and reminding him of his oath.
"The day I became a ninja, I swore I would no longer joke around pulling pranks, and work hard in ninja training so that one day I can make my parents proud, and show everyone in the village that I am more than a son of the Fourth Hokage. And now I make another promise to you Tazuna, that I will no longer freeze up. That I will protect you until the mission is over and your bridge is build."
"That's right. I swore I would make my parents proud, that I would live up to their memory. I can't do that being scared. That's why I swore never to freeze up again." Naruto thought as he look at his headband. Then he remember the first lesson Kakashi taught them about abandoning a comrade. "Time to make my dad proud!"
Naruto charged at Zabuza full speed.
"Naruto, no!" Kakashi yelled.
"Naruto!" Hinata responded.
"Fool!" Zabuza kicked Naruto with the foot that was holding down his headband, which Naruto had hope Zabuza would do as he manage to swipe it back.
Naruto struggled back up, holding his headband. "Hey you! Freak with no eyebrows! Put this in your bingo book. The ninja who would be Hokage, is the Son of the Yellow Flash of the Hidden Leaves and Fourth Hokage himself," Naruto said as he tied his headband around his forehead. "And that's me! I'm his son! Naruto Namikaze!"
The water clone started twitching with annoyance.
"Alright, Sasuke. Listen up! You hear me?"
"Yeah I hear you!" Sasuke said.
"I've got a plan!" Naruto responded.
"Now he's got a plan? This guy." Sasuke thought before saying. "So you're finally thinking about teamwork, huh?"
"Yeah. Meantime, Hinata, I need you to watch the bridge builder," Naruto said.
"Okay," Hinata responded.
"Alright then, let's go wild!" Naruto said.
"Big words coming from such a little man. Think just because you're a Hokage's b- with a plan, you can take me down?" Zabuza asked.
"What are you doing? I told you to run! This fight was over the moment I was caught. Now take off! Your mission is not to prove yourselves. It's to save the bridge builder."
"Sorry sensei, but we are going to have to disobey your orders!" Naruto said. "After all, those who abandon their comrades are worse than trash."
"You got a problem with that bridge builder?" Sasuke asked.
"Well since this all happened because of my desire to live, I owe it to you guys," Tazuna said. "If your sensei taught you not to leave a comrade behind, then I say go ahead and do what you have to do to save your sensei."
The water clone just laughed in response. "You really haven't learn anything, have you? Still playing your little game--pretending to be ninja. When I was your age, this hand had already crushed many opponents."
Naruto and Hinata gasped in shock.
"Zabuza, the demon." Kakashi said.
"Oh. So I was in your bingo book, too, huh?" Zabuza asked.
"Long ago, in the Village Hidden in the Mist--also known as Blood Mist Village--before a student could become a ninja, there was one final test." Kakashi explained.
"Do you know about the graduation exam?" Zabuza asked.
"What's the big deal anyways? We had graduation test too?" Naruto asked.
The water clone just laughed. "Did you have to kill the other students to pass?"
That shocked Naruto.
"Imagine young ninja like you--eating together, training together--and then comes the final exam. Only they changed the rules--kill or be killed. You can't stop while your opponent still breathes. He was your friend--shared your dreams. Now it's him or you."
"But if it happened long ago, what change?" Hinata asked.
"Ten years ago in the Village Hidden in the Mist, the graduation exam changed. One year before, a dark evil had filled the school with terror."
"Dark evil?" Hinata asked.
"Without pause or hesitation, a young boy who was not even a ninja approached the class and took down over a hundred other students."
"It--it felt so good," the water clone responded.
Then he attacked Sasuke sending him to the ground before elbowing him and stepping on him.
"You're nothing!" the water clone said.
Naruto made a series of hand signs, "Wind style: Wind Clone Jutsu!"
Naruto summoned several vortexes that formed into clones.
"Wind clones--so the kid can use elemental jutsus too," the water clone thought thought.
"Here we go!" Naruto and his wind clones dog piled onto the Water clone with a Kunais. But the water cut through them with one slash causing a burst of wind from the dispersed clones.
In that wind a giant Shuriken with folded curved blades came at Sasuke. Sasuke instinctively caught it and gasped. "So that's your plan. Not bad naruto!" Sasuke spinned around and unfolded the shuriken to it's four point form "Demon Wind Shuriken: Windmill of Shadows!" Sasuke shouted as he jumped in the air and threw it.
"A shuriken? You won't touch me with that!" the water clone said.
But the shuriken curved around it and came at Zabuza.
"So you pass my clone and came for my body. Smart, but not smart enough," Zabuza said as he caught it with his freed hand.
But then a second demon wind Shuriken was also coming at Zabuza. "A second shuriken in the shadow of the first. The Shadow Shuriken Jutsu!"
The second Shuriken was on target but Zabuza jumped over the shuriken without releasing the water prison.
"I told you a shuriken cannot touch me!" Zabuza said.
But then a puff of smoke surrounded the Shuriken revealing to be Naruto in disguise using the transformation jutsu, and he had a kunai ready.
